Re: 3rd Trimester check in week Jan. 22nd.
30 weeks today over here. Have a checkup this week but nothing too exciting going on. I hope everyone is feeling good and has a great week.
QOTW - I have a question for any second time moms in this thread. Or really anyone who wants to chime in. Any recommendations for some must have baby items? I have my registry pretty much complete, but am always interested to hear what products others absolutely loved/hated. I feel like there are so many products out there, it's a bit overwhelming.
I'm at 36w3d and have my weekly apt on Thursday. I got my results back today for the Group B Strep test and they were positive. Since I'm scheduled for a c-section they are not concerned. TMI!!! My DH is very confused though he thinks I have strep throat and when I tried to explain it was like an infection in my who ha he then asked if that's how he has gotten sick lol MEN lol.
@MMD1986 My number one things on my list were pretty basic. I wanted a swing of some kind, a rock n play and swaddle blankets (the cheater kind with the Velcro). When it comes to the swing it's a little difficult. When we had the twins one preferred a vibrating chair and one preferred an infant swing. This time I got the Graco DuetConnect LX Swing and Bouncer. So it's a combo of the 2. I probably wont really need the rock n play but we are in a tri level house now and I figured it would be the best way to have the baby in the same room as me.
You really only need like 2 or 3 sheets not a bunch like registries suggest. I do like to use sheet protectors as well.

I did only register for three sheets. I figure if they go through all three sheets in the amount of time it takes me to wash one then I really need to step up my laundry game. Or hire a maid.
@MMD1986 A great question. I have a related question. I live in a 2-story house and I’m trying to decide where to put the baby to nap downstairs. We have a crib, but that would be placed upstairs in the master bedroom next to our bed. We need a place to put the baby downstairs for daytime and when guests are visiting (Weird to hang out in our bedroom). I don’t know what to get. Bassinet? Rock ‘n play? I know that the crib is the safest but doesn’t quite make sense to buy a second crib and also we need something that’s more portable too. What did you ladies get?

@cashewchicken we got a pack 'n play for downstairs naps. I've heard rock ' plays are great, but 'flat back is best' to prevent SIDS and as a FTM I'm sure I'm on the more paranoid side. We also plan on taking this with us to grandparents homes and other travel.
I also have a baby gear question, what are your thoughts on bumbo/sit me up chairs? Are they really necessary/helpful or just an extra thing? What are you all doing/have you done for other kids?
@thucks I had to chuckle at your husbands question about getting sick. Some of these pregnancy things are so hard to explain!

@kaseycoco I know what you mean about time. I am 36w and only have 3 weeks till our scheduled c-section. There are times when I feel like I'm ready lets do this and then other times I'm like no wait I need to make it to the 1st give me 2 more weeks.
With the twins I used a bumbo seat thing with a play ring that connected to it. This time I was given one of those new sit me up seats. I felt the twins needed it once they were able to sit up on their own just to encourage the posture. Even though they sit up on their own they don't necessarily do it to play they would more than not play while on their tummy so the seat encourages them to sit up.

As a FTM I’m paranoid. So much so that I was seriously contemplating getting the identical crib/mattress combo for upstairs and downstairs. But I do need something portable so I came to my senses. I’m now trying to decide between a pack ‘n play combo (with a bassinet) or a bassinet with more stable base. I will think about it for the next couple of weeks. At least we have a crib now and a car seat so we can bring the baby home and we also have a place for him to sleep!

Had MFM appointment yesterday and they both passed their BPP ultrasound with flying colors, but Baby b is still breech.. I have an OB appointment Friday for another NST test as well.
I would definitely have at least a swing or vibrating bouncer.
The thing about the 2 crib ? I would get the pack n play with the bassinet as it can be used longer that just a bassinet and can travel easily.

My OB appointment went well today as well. Good BP and no protein as well, but my feet are so swollen. I had to order a new pair of shoes today to get me through the rest of my pregnancy.
