What's new with Babe?: Pretty much the same? He’s not quite pushing my ribs as much as he was so I can breathe better but I still can’t wait for him to drop!
What's new with Mama?: SPD for reals—my left hip is completely f*ed at this point, and my left knee is also affected. I’m officially waddling/limping everywhere, my hip is constantly popping, and bending over, putting on pants and a million other things I have always taken for granted bring an excruciating pain. It’s also extremely difficult and painful to pick up DS.
Rants/raves/thoughts: SPD... see above Heartburn has been off the charts bad My House—you know how they say it gets worse before it gets better? We are at that stage of minimizing and purging and I feel like it has been getting worse forever. I hopefully have 6ish weeks before baby is here and no finished nursery, a garage that is halfway organized and put away, Christmas decorations that need to be put away, too many loads of laundry, and more areas to purge and clean. I’m giving myself a deadline of mid-February so I can have a cleaning company come in and do a big spring cleaning—wash the windows, clean the baseboards, power wash the patio and driveway and all the “extras” so that I have a spotless house. In my mind, it will be easy to maintain... le sigh.
Raves: DS has started being really sweet to “baby brudda” in my bump. He talks to him, gives him kisses and pats my belly back when LO is kicking him. He is less helpful when I ask him about names; he repeats whatever names I say just fine, but if I ask him what to name the baby, it’s always a color and a shape, like Pink Square, Black Circle, etc.
Questions: Not really? Unless someone knows something to magically cure SPD? I got my maternity belt in yesterday and I’m hoping to start using it to walk around my neighborhood with MH and DS over these last few weeks.
GTKY: What is your SuperBowl prediction? (If you watch football) I’m going to have to google to even see who is playing... ummm I pick the Vikings to win overall and I hate the Pats so I hope they lose to the Jags. But basically I’m an ABP fan—anyone but the Patriots. oh and I only watch the super bowl for the commercials...
What's new with Babe?:not much as far as I can tell. I am carrying lower this time than with them other 2. They were in my ribs by now.
What's new with Mama?: we leave for Mexico Sunday. I am nervous and excited. I just got done writing directions, healthcare directives, and where things are/what is to be done if something happens to us. My GD numbers have been doing great. I am exhausted after lunch and keep falling asleep. Luckily DD lays down and watches tv.
Rants/raves/thoughts: See above I guess. DD is worried about us leaving and I have never been away from either of the kids this long before. Questions:
GTKY: What is your SuperBowl prediction? (If you watch football) i am there for the food and commercials.
@megpeg I hope you enjoy your trip to Mexico! I’m jealous! I know you will miss the kiddos but it’ll be good for all of you. And woot for good GD numbers!
What's new with Babe?: She is very active, I can tell she's getting super cramped in there. Constantly on the move. She gets jealous when I hold other babies. She also likes to head butt my pelvis. She's going to be quite the spunky little chunk, I just know it!
What's new with Mama?: Ultrasound next Thursday and I really want to see her face! From there I will start getting measured weekly for dilation. My boobs are on a whole other level of HURT. The contractions are pretty crazy and I am just getting anxious to meet my girl. Sometimes I get a scared feeling and worry about how hard it's going to be. I just am someone who hates not knowing and I know raising a baby doesn't come with a manual. I just want to be the best mother I can be for her, because she deserves nothing less.
Rants/raves/thoughts: Still annoyed with the MIL. She can be very stubborn but I am a Ricketts by blood and us Ricketts women are the most stubborn women you'll ever meet in your life. I will out-stubborn her. Like I said, my daughter only deserves the best. If someone can't give that, then bye.
Questions: Any STM+ moms out there try perineal massages? I read about it in the books and curious if it really does help with tearing?
GTKY: What is your SuperBowl prediction? (If you watch football) I'm like @mdfarmchick.... anybody but the Pats... for real.
@crossfitbabybump I discussed it with my doctor the last time and he was in favor of it but honestly everything went so quickly I’m not sure if he had a chance to do more than provide some counterpressure as his head came out. ((Shrugs)). You can read my birth story on the med-free support thread if you want. I didn’t need stitches.
Weeks: 30 Expected Due Date: March 30 - so hard to be bringing up the tail end here! Some of you are getting so close to the end! What's new with Babe?: Just had an ultrasound today. Head down, measuring on track, around 3lbs 8oz (as much as you can rely on those estimates..). Looking good! This kid is crazy active. What's new with Mama?: Acid reflux when I lay down, sore pelvis with minimal walking (especially in the morning), thankfully the contractions have stayed minor and sporadic. STILL have a yeast infection. I've had a yeast or bacterial infection for at least two months. Unbelievable. However, it could be much worse. Just happy to still be rolling along with a happy baby in there. Rants/raves/thoughts: Anyone else super paranoid about this flu?? It's crazy this year and I fight the temptation to spray my kids with Lysol when I pick them up from school. It's hard not to feel anxious all the time like surely it's going to get us eventually. Questions: Not that I can think of. GTKY: What is your SuperBowl prediction? (If you watch football) I'm with @megpeg. I predict I will eat food and watch some commercials. And I'll occasionally see some plays. I love going to football games but I have zero team loyalty and watching it on TV is less interesting for me.
What's new with Babe?: had an ultrasound a few days ago and he is head down already measuring a week ahead.
What's new with Mama?: It hasn't been a fun week in my house... we are all just getting over the stomach flu both my husband and DD got it and myself. I ended up in labor and delivery on Tuesday with contractions for being so dehydrated. They gave me an IV to rehydrate me and stop the contractions and monitored the baby. Luckily everything turned out okay and I'm feeling much better but my DD still is sick it seems to be dragging out for her
Rants/raves/thoughts: not much we finally started prepping the nursery we set up my daughters crib and changing table and bought him a dresser and mattress. Since it's my second we opted to not have a baby shower so we also did some shopping for the nursery.
Questions: not really
GTKY: What is your SuperBowl prediction? (If you watch football) I don't watch football
What's new with Babe?: She's doing her thing, wiggling around, making me feel like I'm morphing into an animate washing machine. My fundal height it measuring two weeks behind as of my appointment yesterday. My midwife said this is considered "low side of normal" and isn't concerned, think baby will catch up by next time. I kinda believe her cause my belly is itching like crazy and my skin just feels TIGHT. Still, anything "off" makes me feel a litle paranoid.
What's new with Mama?: I'm so over working. The ED is like a flu bomb (ugh @stephbrim24) and I'm so nervous. Other times, they're like, here's a 400 lb man who spent the night running around naked and harassing people. I just want to stay home and protect my baby!
Other than that I'm good.
Rants/raves/thoughts:
One of my oldest friends is in town with her 3 month old baby, who I can't wait to meet and snuggle!
@mdfarmchick my house is a mess too! my largely unsuccessful organizing tactic has involved migrating a wave of junk from one room to another then out to the garage, LOL. In theory, everything in the guest room is "to be donated" and everything in the garage is "to be tossed," but who knows. My kitchen is also begging to be resorted. Hope I get around to it soon! At least baby's room is clean.
Questions:
@crossfitbabybumb Also hoping to prevent tearing! Though maybe it's even not a huge deal if it happens -- people seem to heal well enough. My childbirth teacher is recommending lots of long squats leading up to labor, "advanced" kegels, warm baths/showers during labor, etc to aid with stretching and control in the canal. The bradley birthing book I'm reading keeps emphasizing that when you feel the "startle effect" of the baby crowning ("ring of fire"), you should actually stop pushing and just breathe for a few minutes to allow for stretching and natural numbing to set in.
GTKY: What is your SuperBowl prediction? (If you watch football) Not a football person. Or a commercial person. But I like nachos and chicken wings!
@orbmaker and @crossfitbabybump I was just reading the same thing about pushing. If they don’t force the head out or pull it should come slowly enough on its own and you don’t need to push. You go down to a 1% chance of tearing.
@crossfitbabybump I really can’t think of a reason it would be “too late!” The idea is literally to make the perineum stretchier (by stretching it!), so that it is less likely to tear. Added bonus of preparing your legs for “birthing position.”
ETA, my book advises partner support in getting down into a squat, so if you’re not a squatter already you may want to have your husband on standby. Then you’ll want to lean forward onto your arms hands to support baby weight. When you’re done, they say lift your butt first and get up slowly (with support if you need it). With your CrossFitting tho, I bet you’ve had practice
I was at the gym this weekend just doing some slow air squats. I love to sit in a deep squat too, it feels so good on my hips! I will keep doing that then, thank you!
