@J1006 holy crap that is a lot! I have always needed a lot of stims since I take forever to respond. With both my boys it was 13-17 days. So I'm super nervous. I don't know how to make the decision to pay out of pocket or try with insurance. SG told me today once again keep in mind if I need another round of IVF I will be out of pocket 100 percent with no coverage because my meds will eat the amount I have for IVF up. How can I decide?? I can't tell if I will need more then one IVF it's all a crap shoot!

@ndz2018 I am going to find it and post on here. So it use to be here on the Infertility and Infertility Vets blog - it was the "OoP Meds Donation" monthly post. I donated my left over drugs to pay it forward 5 years ago. Turns out people have been looking for drugs and due to the lack of donations they stopped it. Which is crappy. You know what is also real shitty...my sister in law had two kids on her own then decided bc her company covers IVF to go ahead and do it and choose a boy. Long story short...caused issues with my bro and me bc I didn't want to hear about it considering it wasn't medically necessary. Long story short..I asked if they had left over meds. She trashed them rather then pass them along :) Nice right.

    Married: 5/09 ~ TTC Since: 10/10 ~ PCOS ~ Progesterone from 10/10 - 2/11 ~ HSG on 3/18 - Clear ~ Started Metformin 1000mg & Clomid 50mg 2/11 ~ Metformin upped to 1500mg 4/6 ~ 6/7 Now going to SG and put on Clomid, Ovidrel, Gonal F, Prometrium, Estrace ~ IUI #1 7/2 = BFP!!!!!! March 6th our little man was born.

  • @mcgeeva Why would anyone throw those meds away?!?? If you live in NJ or the tri state area you are more than welcome to them. I have 2 unopened boxes of the Gonal-f pens and An unopened box of pregnayl that I didnt Use I only had to trigger with the Lupron. If not I will Donate them back to the clinic as one of the girls on here who goes to the same clinic, different location, said when she ran out the clinic gave her a Gonal pen Bc she was short a day or two so at least I know it’s going to other women who need it in a jam. im sorry to hear about the issues with your brother. Funny story my bro and SIL also did IVF. She is about 2 months ahead of me and *TW is due with a little girl in Sept :)  END TW * they have struggled for some time with secondary IF so I literally couldn’t be happier for them! They were mostly OOP too so when I told Them about our coverage I got a little stink eye lol but all is well.
  • @ndz2018 They are stupid. There is never a good reason to throw unused drugs away but if your not paying for it or know the struggle you don't get it. I have a very lovely spiteful special SIL. My nurse at SG gave me a vial of drugs before during my last cycle because she knew we were OoP. I also knew here for 10 years going to SG but for other reasons.

I appreciate it! But in good ol VA :) Whole family is there though! That's great you def should. Lol..I can only imagine but I am glad they got pregnant too.

@mcgeeva How could someone throw away these drugs?! Yikes!  I didn’t have any left over but if I did I would donate them to my clinic. They gave me a few doses of Menopur and some Gonal F towards the end of my cycle.

@ndz2018 My PGS biopsies went out on the 18th. Originally my embryologist said a week. Then my RE said Monday or Tuesday. My paperwork says two weeks. Ugh! This is torture. We have five frozen, but I want to know if it’s actually five.

Edit:  just as I finished this my lab called. Not good news. Three came back abnormal and two came back undetermined.  So now we have to take the risk of unthawing them, rebiopsing them, and freezing again. If they survive that hopefully we will get some results. The doctor said there could have just not been enough genetic material in those two for the lab to give a result. They could come back normal but he didn’t sound too convincing.
  • @J1006 SHIT! Did he happen to say they were mosaic the two undetermined ones?
We sent out 12 to be PGS tested and 5 came back normal and 3 came back mosaic(containing normal and abnormal cells) /undetermined and didn’t recommend for transfer BUT they are keeping them frozen so that kinda confused me... if you dont Recommend for Transfer why are you keeping them? So I set Out on Dr Google and found some interesting articles.

    @j1006 that’s awful I’m sorry

• @ndz2018. They just said undetermined. That was it. That is strange that they want to keep them frozen if they aren’t recommended for transfer. Our RE won’t transfer an embryo that is undetermined so obviously we are going to try and test them. I’m just concerned about the thaw and refreeze and then thaw again for transfer if they come back normal.
  • @J1006 RIGHT?? I thought It was odd too. What is the survival rate of an embryo that thaw then refreeze and thaw again for transfer? Sorry you didn’t get good news today, this whole process really sucks sometimes. Are they doing this soon?
  • @ndz2018 I’m not sure. That’s one question I’m going to ask the main embryologist when I talk to her tomorrow. DH came home and said he doesn’t even want to retest, he just wants to move right to adoption. I don’t think I can do that. I will always wonder if it was a biopsy error or actually an abnormal result. I have to get pricing on how much it will cost in lab fees. Might not be worth it....if it’s not a huge cost then they will retest ASAP but it took 2 weeks to get the results this time. I’m supposed to start lupron next week. I want to see if we should just delay it until our results come back. Why take lupron if we aren’t going to transfer anything?

I just hate how this whole thing is. Super highs of hope and then it’s just shattered with a phone call. Ugh.
  • J1006 what an awful situation I can’t even imagine.

• @J1006 I’m so sorry you have to go through this right now. I do remember someone saying that their emnryologist said it’s rare to lose an embryo from freeze to thaw... just not sure about the refreezing and rethawing. I really hope it’s not too expensive... if it helped we had paid for 10 embryos to be tested and 12 made it so we had to pay for those 2 extra and it was $250 for the extras to be tested.
  • We are using Genesis and we won’t have to pay them anything since we are covered for 8 tests in 9 months and we only used five. We just have to pay our embryologist to do the biopsy again. Still waiting on pricing.  Unfortunately they cancelled my March FET so I won’t be with you ladies anymore but will definitely be cheering you on. They don’t want to start me on Lupron unless there is an embryo to transfer and we won’t know that for a couple of weeks.
  • @J1006 I am so, so sorry this is happening. I’m really hoping you get the results back soon and that they come back normal and maybe you can still swing a March FET. We’re here if you need to vent!
  • So I decided to start acupuncture tomorrow in preparation for my FET. When I was Researching on Dr Google it said you should start 2-3 cycles prior I’m thinking my FET is probably about 7 weeks away so I’m hoping it will help! Anyone else doing acupunture?
  • Hi everyone, I did a fresh ER 2 weeks ago & had OHSS. My dr postponed my ET until March 14th. So I’m just filling my schedule with lots to do till then since it seems so far away. I did start on BCP this week, so that is something.  I don’t usually post to much but wanted to say hi.
@J1006 that is such disappointing & confusing news, I’m really sorry you are going through this! I know how crushed I was when we first had to postpone stims for my polyp removal surgery and now the transfer. I’m sorry and hope everything will work out for you!

@ndz2018 I did acupuncture my first IVF cycle. I personally didn’t like it, but I find it hard laying still for a message, so I might not be the right person to comment.  I don’t regret doing it because I wanted to do everything I could! I did get my BFP but it was a chemical pregnancy (only lasted 5 weeks) I only did acupuncture for 2 weeks before the fresh transfer. I continued it through to the next months Frozen transfer which was BFN.  My second fresh IVF I didn’t do acupuncture but I did get my now 2 year old daughter.  So you never know! I hope you enjoy acupuncture, so many people swear it got them BFP!!!

Hey @chillvazz thanks for the input.. I like to hear personal opinions on things. Like when I go to a restaurant and ask the waiters/ress what their favorite dish is, because they’ve probably tried it.

AFM, got some bad news . At my initial pre op appointment the one Doctor told me after i heal for Feb we would continue on with our FET when I get AF the end of this month. Friday I went to my post op with my actual doctor(there’s a few at my clinic) and she said since my septum was so large she wants to wait on more cycle for our FET, I’m definitely disappointed and bummed but she made a lot of valid points so we wait. I suppose AF should start around March 26/27ish and will begin my prep at that time. So as bummed as I am I’m looking forward to more time to go start taking care of myself for the next two months
  • Hi everyone, I hope I can join. My husband and I have been married for 2yrs. We just did an IVF cycle in January and they found a polyp so my RE decided to wait in ET and remove the polyp this month.
@J1006, I am sorry....I hope the tests come back good and everything works out.
@chillvazz, I think we might be near each other's time on AF and might be FET cycle buddies. When did they remove your polyp and how big was it? Was it painfully and can I go back to work the next day like they are telling me?
@ndz2018, I want to try acupuncture too, I have been reading dr.google too and some people swear by it. Where are you? And how did you find some one to do it?
As for those people who are throwing meds away...If I need them, can you throw them my way? cause I am completely 100% out of pocket....and aside from the emotional toll this process takes out on you...there's only so much financial stress you can take!
  • @knottie821 I’m in NJ. My Chiropractor has an acupunturist at his group so I went to him. I started on Friday and I love him! He’s fantastic. I’m going back today after work.

Though I’ll be getting AF at the end of March my transfer has been pushed back to mid April. I was really looking forward to a March Transfer after all the waiting we’ve done already. I know It’s for the best and I wouldn’t want to lose an embryo because I wasnt 100% healed or it wasn’t the best possibly environment for our embryo or I’m impatient.. so we wait.
  • @ndz2018 I’m sorry you got pushed back another month but I like your positive mindset about having time to get healthier! I’v Been trying to be more health conscious starting a week ago, now I wish I would’ve sooner but trying to get through the holidays & stimming seemed like a lot at the time.
@knottie821 my polyps looked small from the saline test so my Dr was just going to do some “trimming” to remove it but during the surgery she found there was a lot more and ended up doing the D&C scrapping. The recovery was pretty easy! I didn’t need any hard drugs just the Tylenol worked. And it’s like AF so have some pads.  I had a much worse recovery from the ER. Everyone is different so just take it easy on yourself.
I also had the polyp removal surgery (D&C) done 4 years ago before a Fresh IVF in which I got pregnant with my almost 3yo daughter!!! So it worked! We’ve been TTC a second child for 2 years & I found out in November the polyps grew back... Had the surgery in mid December and the IVF stims & ER in January.
I’m on BCP so my Dr is going to control when my next period starts. I should stop BCP on Feb 20th & ET March 14 or 15.
  • So I went to see my doc this morning hasn't a HSG done...hate those test. I always have pain during it. But the polyp is still there. She scheduled me for surgery next tuesday....no looking forward to that.
I also asked about my FET protocol and she said they did natural. Wait  for AF, then10 days in go in for daily U/S or bloodwork, Wait for ovulation and then 5 days after that ET.
I asked if there were any medications involved and she said not...I find that had to believe....should I at least be getting progesterone after I ovulate to keep the lining up?
Anyone do a natural FET cycle? What was your protocol?

@ndz2018, I am too far from NJ to go for acupuncture there. I am in queens and can do LI or queens...have to find acupuncture here. Anyone on here know any in the LI or queens area?
@chillvazz, my ER was not great...I had pain the 2nd day....so not looking forward to this, but hoping it's like your and that was worst then the polyp removal.
  • @knottie821 Best of luck tomorrow for your surgery!!! Wish I could help with your natural FET protocol. I'll be doing estrace and PIO shots to prepare for mine. Seeing my schedule for meds, I wish I could do a natural one!

  • @kristimh80, thank you so much.
I am so glad I am not doing all those meds, but also worried that they won't have control over timing. I had  to take progesterone shots aftdr my ivf for a couple of days and it was the worst! Hope it all works out and its worth it!

  • Hi Ladies! I'm going to jump on over here from the Feb FET board as my FET this month unfortunately ended in a BFN. We transferred a single embryo and used a medicated protocol (estrace and progesterone). It is suspected that I have endo and the estrace has really, really aggravated whatever is going on in there and I've been pretty sore and tender in the pelvic area all month. It's not been fun! I want to go with more of an endo protocol (down regulation/Femara) but my RE isn't in the office this month to discuss so I'm going with a natural FET (the second most used protocol at my clinic) and then will discuss other available options with her in March if FET #2 fails. Logistically, it's going to be more of a headache but I absolutely cannot stand being a leaky mess and I won't miss how having to stick meds up my vag 3 times a day ruled my life. I'm getting pretty stressed out about the endo thing and the delays it could cause by having to deal with it, but it is what it is, I guess. Hopefully FET #2 will work and I won't have to think about it!

@knottie821 I will be going in for b/w and u/s starting CD 10 but I will be doing OPKs at home just to keep an eye on things myself as sometimes I can O early, especially after my cycle has been manipulated. After O I'll still be on progesterone but that's it.

My girlfriend that did ER right before me has endo and since ER it's caused her so many headaches with meds, etc...so I don't you there! I had my FET consult today and luckily they gave me an option of the vag things or PIO shots. I took the PIO...don't have time for all that messy junk!

Moving over from the February FET board because I forgot that February only has 28 days!  :D

AF showed today so I called the RE and got my FET tentatively scheduled!  It's gonna be on March 2nd!!  My monitoring appointment is scheduled for February 23rd and we will confirm the date then!  We will be transferring one of my 5 day blasts (my fresh transfer was a 3 day)!  Started my estrace today (6 mg a day), I'm glad that's all I have to take until I start my PIO!

@kristimh80 I'm with you on that!  I had progesterone suppositories for my IUIs and as big a pain in the butt (literally  ;)) that PIO is, it is SOOOO much better than the suppositories!

  • Had my polyp removed yesterday....so far, I am ok. Just some cramps and it's like your period. Its better than the ER!
@tosh24, I am sorry it didn't work last time...hope this month brings us both better news.
Since my period is mid-march...I figured I start doing home ook this month and have an idea....my cycles go from 27-31 days and with all the hormones and surgery....it will make me feel a little better knowing I can somewhat have an idea of timing.
    @marfi236 & kristemh80  those shots are pretty bad !
  • @knottie821 Hubs is actually pretty good as giving them paired with the lidocaine I was prescribed I haven’t found the PIO shots to be very bad.  I actually more sore now that I have stopped them for the time being than I was when I was doing them!  On the days I was not able to lidocaine before the shot we iced for a minute or so before and those weren’t terrible either but definitely hurt more than with the lidocaine!

  • CD 2 today so yay for getting the show on the road! I called my clinic and told them I want to do a natural cycle this month. I think my first appointment will be CD 10 which will be Feb 24th and then likely every day from CD 12-14. I usually O on my own anywhere from CD 13 - 15 but who knows after coming off two heavily manipulated cycles (IVF cycle in Dec/Jan, medicated FET in Jan/Feb). I bought some more OPKs to use at home so I can keep track myself. I'm excited to try again but nervous for another failure.

  • @tosh24, waiting is torture....glad you can get the show on the road...hopefully this "natural cycle" dies the trick...keep us posted!
  • @knottie821 I’m glad your polyp removal went well!
@tosh24  I think I’ll be about a week behind you!

I’ll be on BCP for about 4 more days my sonogram is Tuesday, AF should start Thursday. I’m getting excited for everything to get going! It seems so far away right now but I have a lot of dead lines, projects & hosting to keep me super busy. Until the week of transfer and then my whole life will slow down & I plan to get LOTS of R&R!

@marfi236 that is so interesting you got to use lidocaine for PIO. That would have been way better I think. I actually warmed up the PIO so it was more viscous. Numbing would have been really nice!
  • @chillvazz I was super surprised to have it prescribed without my having to ask or anything!  I do the same thing and warm it up, that combined with the numbing makes it way more bearable.  I only wish it helped right now!  It has been a week since I stopped PIO from my fresh transfer and it'll be a week until I start it again but my muscles are still sore from the injections!

  • Hi gals, question for those have had any kind of uterine surgery (specifically polyp removal). I was okay first 4 days after surgedy, only had a couple of drop of bleeding way day, but today I woke up and it's like 1st AF. It's dark and more than last couple of days (sorry for the TMI). Anyone experience this or know why?
  • @smittenkitten_aka_knottie821 the bleeding days later is normal. My RE warned me about it and said it is not AF it’s just late bleeding. Then when I experienced it I knew what it was.   But to be on the safe side and your peace of mind call your IVF nurse or Corrdinator and they can let you know what they think.
  • @chillvazz, it's good to hear that it's normal...and that your Re warned you about it...all my RE told me is that I might bleed, nothing about it starting later...it was just that one day and then stopped again. I am just waiting now and hoping all is okay, I am suppose to go see my RE on Wednesday for follow up.
But thank you for sharing your experience...i appreciate all you guys and am so happy I can ask these things on here.
  • Hello ladies, I am going to jump in here. Just got my third FET scheduled for March 29th. It is going to be my last embryo so I really hope it is the one. We are doing medicated cycle and my RE is adding lovenox to my protocol due to reoccurring pregnancy loss. So I hope it will do the trick!
