Re: FFFC

  • My FFFC is that I don't like Harry Potter. I don't see the appeal and have never been tempted to read the books or watch any movies.
  • Loading the player...
  • @hezzer78 Totally agree and I'll add to that.....I don't actually like any imaginary stuff like that.  Wizards, witchcraft, lords?  No thanks.
  • @hezzer78 blasphemy!

I have one set of parents in my class who is fucking crazy, and I'm at the point in the year where I just ignore their emails. They emailed three times because she got an 86 on a test. Three times. I didn't answer.

  • I'm also anti Harry potter.  I got regularly flamed about that in my previous BMB haha.

I have to think of one and come back here later.
  • I’ve never watched Game Of Thrones. I don’t understand what all the hype is about.

@hezzer78, also never saw the appeal about Harry Potter!

  • Craziness to all the anti-HPers!! Love me some Harry Potter.

I have a good one so get your popcorn ready. I was a stress smoker and had recently switched to vaping as a way to help me quit. I was doing really well with it until I found out about the baby and had to go off my mood stabilizer and anxiety meds. I’m already a batcase being off my meds and I just want to smoke so bad but know I can’t. Flame away.

I can't with all these HP haters, and Game of Thrones is soooooo good! My sister asked if I could have the baby early so I could go with her to a Harry Potter convention (don't worry, I'm not going and wouldn't go anyways) :)

ETA: Why is it that if you like a name for your child, but it's too trendy or popular then you don't want to use it? If I like a name, I'm going to use it if it's popular or not. I guess it's because I have a popular name, Ashley, for my age group it doesn't bother me at all. Flame away....

  • @juliebird6 we rocked DS to sleep for about a year. He has zero problems sleeping now. In fact, we've changed his bed twice in the last 6 months and I don't even think he's noticed. Haha.
  • @juliebird6 my mom still rocks my daughter to sleep if the kids are over there, but I don’t. I will say though that she knows my mom will do it and expects it when there but knows she can’t get away with it at home.
  • I like HP but can not get into Game of Thrones and agree that I don’t get the obsession with it.

my FFFC: I’m totally going in our hot tub once I’m out of the first trimester. My doctor gave me the okay with my last pregnancy and we keep the temperature lower for the kids anyway.

  • Mine: I have already totally been talking to the baby even though it is a tater tot and won't be able to hear anything for months. I consult it about what it wants me to eat or what it thinks of things going on throughout the day.

  • I don't mind monthly pictures of your kid on FB up until the year...but there's this girl on mine who does WEEKLY pictures so every week we've got the baby beside blocks.  I think we're at like 38 now LOL

Same goes for telling me your kid is 22 months, just say almost 2 or something.
  • @juliebird6 I'm just against it *personally*, I don't judge those who do it at all.  Many of my friends have done it and as they sleep soundly at night while I am getting kicked and clawed in the back sometimes I wonder if I should have done it too  :D:D:D

  • Mine: My coworker's son's birthday party is tomorrow. She came to my son's party but this is about an hour and a half away from home and I have a cold. I'd really rather not give the cold to her baby and family. I have a gift for him, but I do feel bad that I'm not planning to go since she came to my son's. I guess I can see how I feel tomorrow.

DH and I haven't had sex some before the BFP. At first it was because of spotting, now I just don't feel like it.
Yeahhhhhhh...about that...I'm legit terrified of sex right now. I had issues with my pubic bone last pregnancy and it's already flared up and I just really don't want anything near me in any way.
  • I love HP and Game of Thrones but not other popular shows. For example, I’ve never seen Breaking Bad, couldn’t get into Mad Men, never watched Grey’s Anatomy, and pretty much hate reality TV. Meh.

I was against sleep training until it was regularly taking DS 4-6 hours to fall asleep at night. I was losing my effing mind. He also only napped on me for over a year. So, a few nights and days of tears and he’s a good sleeper now. I’m going to do my damnedest not to create a sleep monster with baby 2.

@7425cait no sex for us either. Feeling like puking all the time doesn’t exactly get me in the mood.

When DS was younger, I would use months vs year depending on my audience, lol. If I was talking to a fellow mom, months. Random person, years.
  • @Firemanswife11 yeah, I've been terrified of having sex since we got our BFP. I'm trying to relax about it but I can't.

  • @juliebird6 We rocked to sleep for a VERY long time.  At some point I think it was actually more uncomfortable for him and he would just flop and push trying to get comfy.  Sometimes it would take up to 2 hours to get him rocked to sleep.  We sleep trained...maybe around a year?  It was really easy for him.  He never cried more than 10 minutes and it was not his actual upset cry.  Now I snuggle him, sing him a song, tell him I love him to the moon and back and set him down awake.  He does not cry at all and is usually asleep within 5 min.  He now STTN 12-13hours/night.  I genuinely believe it works better for him.  But to each their own.

I didn't know what sleep training was when I first had him and I resisted it longer than most people in my other BMB.  I'm here if I can help when the time comes to answer any questions about it.
  • I loved sleep training. It was a week of discomfort for an extended time of excellent sleep. Even now when she goes through a regression, she's back on track within a week.
  • @livinthesunnylife DD will be a year on Wednesday.  She's getting to the point where she flops and is trying to get comfy, but I'm not ready to give it up yet.  Once she's sleeping, she usually sleeps through the night about 12 hours, so I'm not in a huge rush to change anything yet.
  • I nursed DD1 to sleep until she weaned at 18 months, and then I rocked her for a month or so, but after that she just wanted me to put her in her crib.  It was a pretty easy transition.  I'm hoping DD2 is easy too because I'm currently still nursing her to sleep.  I've been blessed with good sleepers that I never had to train...I really hope this next one falls in line as well!
  • @mrsbubbles-2 We are!  I won't fight you for the HP Tula, you can have it.  See....friends!

  • @lakesideknitter I totally eat sushi pregnant.  Like even the raw stuff.  Only from reputable places.  But we went on an Alaskan cruise last time I was pregnant.  I was NOT missing out on all the seafood.  DS is fine.  And he likes seafood!
  • @livinthesunnylife we went on an Alaskan cruise in July. It was....phenomenal. I would do it again today.
  • @Firemanswife11 We loved it too!!!  I would recommend it to anyone!  The scenery is just so beautiful.  I'm not a big cruise person, but that's really the only way to see Alaska.  We booked it before I was pregnant, but it worked out ok because I think was like....18w?  Something after you're showing and you look cute, but before they say you can't cruise.
  • @mrsbubbles-2 did you go off the vape completely cold turkey? And what nicotine level were you using if any? I still use the vape every once in awhile when I absolutely need to but try not to. I just want a real cigarette sometimes but know it’s better to just hit the vape once or twice and trudge through. Definitely on the struggle bus but know it’s for the best.

@mrsbubbles-2 and @cthulu can I ask you a vape question? My BIL vapes and he’ll do it in the car and around DS and it makes me really uncomfortable. I know it’s not as bad as smoke but is there still crap in the vapor that gets released that could hurt us/DS? I need to decide if I say something to him or not

  • @hardlyhannah I don't vape but you are the parent.  If it makes you uncomfortable, you have every right to say something and ask him to not do that while your kids are around, especially in an enclosed space like a car.
