I have one set of parents in my class who is fucking crazy, and I'm at the point in the year where I just ignore their emails. They emailed three times because she got an 86 on a test. Three times. I didn't answer.
Me: 28 DH: 29 Married: 6/2016 TTC #1: 12/2016 Benched due to deployment- Off the bench 8/8/17!
Craziness to all the anti-HPers!! Love me some Harry Potter.
I have a good one so get your popcorn ready. I was a stress smoker and had recently switched to vaping as a way to help me quit. I was doing really well with it until I found out about the baby and had to go off my mood stabilizer and anxiety meds. I’m already a batcase being off my meds and I just want to smoke so bad but know I can’t. Flame away.
I can tell my pregnancy-bitch hormones are already kicking in. I bitched out DH’s parents last night, told one of our Cub Scout parents to stop acting like a child, and told DH’s 20yo niece she needs to grow up, get over herself, and get her damned drivers license. And I decided I’m done answering MIL’s phone calls until she and FIL are no longer fighting, because I will really blow up at them and stop dealing with them at all if they keep trying to pull DH & me into the middle of their fight.
Whoa whoa whoa to all these HP haters. You're killing me!
@cthulu Sorry that you are going through that - I can't even imagine how tough that would be. Hang in there.
Mine's about sleep training...people tell you that you shouldn't rock your baby to sleep. You are supposed to put them down awake so they learn how to fall asleep on their own. Well, flame away, because you'll have to pry DD out of my cold, dead arms before I stop rocking her to sleep. That's one of my favorite parts of the day, and I don't care if I'm creating a bad association.
I can't with all these HP haters, and Game of Thrones is soooooo good! My sister asked if I could have the baby early so I could go with her to a Harry Potter convention (don't worry, I'm not going and wouldn't go anyways)
ETA: Why is it that if you like a name for your child, but it's too trendy or popular then you don't want to use it? If I like a name, I'm going to use it if it's popular or not. I guess it's because I have a popular name, Ashley, for my age group it doesn't bother me at all. Flame away....
@juliebird6 we rocked DS to sleep for about a year. He has zero problems sleeping now. In fact, we've changed his bed twice in the last 6 months and I don't even think he's noticed. Haha.
@juliebird6 my mom still rocks my daughter to sleep if the kids are over there, but I don’t. I will say though that she knows my mom will do it and expects it when there but knows she can’t get away with it at home.
@juliebird6 agree. I am personally against STing (watch me change my mind when I have 2 under 2.5 lol) but I understand why people do it. I just don't think I ever could and thankfully DH and I both agree on this.
@cthulu no flaming! I think you're great for having quit and for staying strong despite the cravings! You can do it!
AFM, 1) I can't wait for HDBD 2) When a knottie starts a thread it's equal part popcorn and eye rolling for me! 3) American chocolate is gross. Hersheys? Yuck. GTFO.
@ecwk I'm not necessarily against it, but part of it just definitely are not for me! Also, agree about HDBD. I love seeing all the bumps! Except when really fit people post pictures about how they've popped, but they're still skinnier than me on a regular day...those ones get an eyeroll. So, sorry super fit ladies.
I like HP but can not get into Game of Thrones and agree that I don’t get the obsession with it.
my FFFC: I’m totally going in our hot tub once I’m out of the first trimester. My doctor gave me the okay with my last pregnancy and we keep the temperature lower for the kids anyway.
Mine: I have already totally been talking to the baby even though it is a tater tot and won't be able to hear anything for months. I consult it about what it wants me to eat or what it thinks of things going on throughout the day.

I already feel like this baby is getting lost in the shuffle as #2 so every night before I go to bed I spend time talking to it and telling it that it’s loved and an important part of our family. So you’re not alone!
August '18 March Siggy Challenge - You had ONE JOB
I don't mind monthly pictures of your kid on FB up until the year...but there's this girl on mine who does WEEKLY pictures so every week we've got the baby beside blocks. I think we're at like 38 now LOL
Same goes for telling me your kid is 22 months, just say almost 2 or something.
@juliebird6 I'm just against it *personally*, I don't judge those who do it at all. Many of my friends have done it and as they sleep soundly at night while I am getting kicked and clawed in the back sometimes I wonder if I should have done it too
@scottishlass1213 I disagree with the months thing. Up until 2yo, there is so many different stages of development that months help describe where they should be at. However, after 2 it should be years.
ETA: my FFV is it’s after 10am on my ‘sick’ day and I’m still in bed eating milk duds and Reece’s.

Mine: My coworker's son's birthday party is tomorrow. She came to my son's party but this is about an hour and a half away from home and I have a cold. I'd really rather not give the cold to her baby and family. I have a gift for him, but I do feel bad that I'm not planning to go since she came to my son's. I guess I can see how I feel tomorrow.
DH and I haven't had sex some before the BFP. At first it was because of spotting, now I just don't feel like it.
Our sex life has definitely taken a hit. I got my BFP on 12/1, and I think aside from a handful of times when we were in Hawaii, we have had sex once (on Weds). I feel bloated and queasy and gross most of the time, and DH is paranoid that it will somehow hurt the baby even though my OB told him it could not. On Weds, he asked me if he should wear a condom so "the stuff can't shoot up at the baby." I rolled my eyes so hard.

Yeahhhhhhh...about that...I'm legit terrified of sex right now. I had issues with my pubic bone last pregnancy and it's already flared up and I just really don't want anything near me in any way.
I love HP and Game of Thrones but not other popular shows. For example, I’ve never seen Breaking Bad, couldn’t get into Mad Men, never watched Grey’s Anatomy, and pretty much hate reality TV. Meh.
I was against sleep training until it was regularly taking DS 4-6 hours to fall asleep at night. I was losing my effing mind. He also only napped on me for over a year. So, a few nights and days of tears and he’s a good sleeper now. I’m going to do my damnedest not to create a sleep monster with baby 2.
@7425cait no sex for us either. Feeling like puking all the time doesn’t exactly get me in the mood.
When DS was younger, I would use months vs year depending on my audience, lol. If I was talking to a fellow mom, months. Random person, years.
@juliebird6 We rocked to sleep for a VERY long time. At some point I think it was actually more uncomfortable for him and he would just flop and push trying to get comfy. Sometimes it would take up to 2 hours to get him rocked to sleep. We sleep trained...maybe around a year? It was really easy for him. He never cried more than 10 minutes and it was not his actual upset cry. Now I snuggle him, sing him a song, tell him I love him to the moon and back and set him down awake. He does not cry at all and is usually asleep within 5 min. He now STTN 12-13hours/night. I genuinely believe it works better for him. But to each their own.
I didn't know what sleep training was when I first had him and I resisted it longer than most people in my other BMB. I'm here if I can help when the time comes to answer any questions about it.
I loved sleep training. It was a week of discomfort for an extended time of excellent sleep. Even now when she goes through a regression, she's back on track within a week.
@livinthesunnylife DD will be a year on Wednesday. She's getting to the point where she flops and is trying to get comfy, but I'm not ready to give it up yet. Once she's sleeping, she usually sleeps through the night about 12 hours, so I'm not in a huge rush to change anything yet.
I nursed DD1 to sleep until she weaned at 18 months, and then I rocked her for a month or so, but after that she just wanted me to put her in her crib. It was a pretty easy transition. I'm hoping DD2 is easy too because I'm currently still nursing her to sleep. I've been blessed with good sleepers that I never had to train...I really hope this next one falls in line as well!
@cthulu fellow former vaper (is that a word?) here! I just got a new rig when we got the BFP so I had some emotions about giving it up (although DH is thoroughly enjoying it now...) If you want to vent I'm here!
@ecwk YAS with HDBD - are people due the first week of August hitting 11/12 weeks yet? I think that's when we should start. I don't mind posting my blump - it's caused by the fact that I'm pregnant and I own it. Don't care if it's actually me "showing" or not. Maybe this is a conversation worth having
@legallykate you're not alone! I talk to the Jellybean all the time and insist that DH does too. He puts up with it pretty well
+1 for no sex. Between the nausea and exhaustion I just can't.
@lakesideknitter I totally eat sushi pregnant. Like even the raw stuff. Only from reputable places. But we went on an Alaskan cruise last time I was pregnant. I was NOT missing out on all the seafood. DS is fine. And he likes seafood!
@Firemanswife11 We loved it too!!! I would recommend it to anyone! The scenery is just so beautiful. I'm not a big cruise person, but that's really the only way to see Alaska. We booked it before I was pregnant, but it worked out ok because I think was like....18w? Something after you're showing and you look cute, but before they say you can't cruise.
I am totally with all the anti - HP people! I just don't get it. But I'm not too into the fantasy genre in general (is that what its called?)
And I think everyone should go have sex. I had amazing sex last weekend and I'm looking forward to doing it again this weekend haha! DS nap time is the perfect time for a little cuddle time. I suggest starting with asking for a massage!
My FFFC -- I totally ate a whole box of thin mints in a day. DH looked at me shocked and IDGAF! The mint makes my tummy happy!
@mrsbubbles-2 did you go off the vape completely cold turkey? And what nicotine level were you using if any? I still use the vape every once in awhile when I absolutely need to but try not to. I just want a real cigarette sometimes but know it’s better to just hit the vape once or twice and trudge through. Definitely on the struggle bus but know it’s for the best.
@mrsbubbles-2 and @cthulu can I ask you a vape question? My BIL vapes and he’ll do it in the car and around DS and it makes me really uncomfortable. I know it’s not as bad as smoke but is there still crap in the vapor that gets released that could hurt us/DS? I need to decide if I say something to him or not

@hardlyhannah I don't vape but you are the parent. If it makes you uncomfortable, you have every right to say something and ask him to not do that while your kids are around, especially in an enclosed space like a car.
