Moms - I have a question not related to this topic, but I thought ya'll might see it in the STM thread.
Any advice on books or websites to read about discipline and/or listening skills for toddlers? DH and I both agreed last night we need more tools in our toolbox.
Like pretty much everyone, hot baths have been my jam this pregnancy. I've taken one every week about. I have been taking them at my 2 year old naps and staying until the water is getting cold haha.
I don't care for lunch meat much so I don't really eat it. But I'll have this amazing salad at a hibachi restaurant near us that has a tiny bit of raw egg in it. It's delicious and I've had it forever.
COFFEE. I gave it up completely last time, and this time I can't live without it. I just have a cup or two in the morning, and I did give up my afternoon diet coke habit. I miss it though. I'm such a caffeine addict.

I tend to gravitate toward Christian parenting topics. One I read in 2017 was Discipline that Connects with Your Child's Heart (by Jim and Lynn Jackson). One I own that stands out to me because of its real practical advice is Don't Make Me Count to Three by Ginger Plowman. One that changed my heart was Desperate: Hope for the Mom Who Needs to Breathe by Sally Clarkson and Sarah Mae. Give Them Grace by Elyse Fitzpatrick and Jessica Thompson. And Parenting by Paul David Tripp was also one of my favorites--the chapters are a bit repetitive, so I shelve it and read a new chapter every now and then. ETA quote for clarification
I have been a mom (if you start counting during my first pregnancy) for 21 years now, so I find it a bit funny that the "rules" change from time to time. I used to drink a Pepsi every day, but I gave it up finally in 2017, mostly because of the damage it did to my teeth. I still drink a cup (maybe 12 oz...so is that two cups?) of coffee every morning. I'll eat lunch meat without heating. I sleep in whatever position is comfortable (but it usually ends up being on my side). I won't go in the hot tub, but I do take hot baths if I want to (rare treat, though, that happens more at the end). I don't eat fish very often because it's too expensive for our budget. I don't exercise (isn't chasing after 10 kids exercise enough??). Overall I think I'm a healthy person. I eat way too much sugar and usually gain about 10 lbs more than I want to. I didn't lose as much weight after my last pregnancy, but I was back to my college weight and a healthy BMI, so I didn't really stress about it too much. If I were going to get uptight about something, it would be counting calories and watching weight gain. Thankfully I don't have time for that!
@hillbillywife oh i completely hear you. I also get headaches/migraines and tylenol doesn't touch it. I've also read about 2nd trimester being a safe spot for expanded meds, so next OB visit and i'm having a serious discussion about pain management. I can suck it up during the day, but i'm up every half hour at night because of pain.
@babybakie agree with all PP - heating pads are usually considered safe on the back/but/hips/notbelly. My dr said it has to do with raising overall body temp versus localized heat.
This is what I thought too. That it has to do with raising your body temp, and also fears of getting light headed and falling. Personally, I use my heated seats until the car warms up, and take 10-15 min hot showers in a well ventilated bathroom. Feels completely reasonable to me.
My doctors told me no drinking(although third trimester my dr recommended one glass of red wine a night to help me sleep) and no drugs. Every other "rule" was from a fellow mom or google search. So I'm pretty relaxed on everything, and just want to follow my Drs rules. We did turn down our hottub, I wont drink until 3rd trimester, and clearly no drugs:P
Re: Second time moms GTKY. <but fun for all >
