TTC After a Loss

Intro

Hi, ladies. Sorry to meet you all here, but I look forward to getting to know you all and contributing to this board.

Back in Sept. my H and I decided to start TTC our fourth and last baby. Unfortunately, on 11/17 I had a NMC at 8 weeks. We decided to wait out the rest of the year before trying again, so here we are. I finally got my first post loss AF this Friday so I’m feeling nervous and excited about TTC this month.

Feel free to ask me any questions if you’d like to know more about me.

  • Welcome, and I'm so sorry for your loss. *TW children mentioned* I have two kids that I had uncomplicated pregnancies with and now we're TTC our 3rd. I've had two miscarriages since November 2016 and a whole lot of trouble getting pregnant (I just finished my first IVF cycle). I'm not sure if you've suffered a loss before, but it really slaps you in the face when it's something you haven't had to deal with previously. *End TW*. I hope your stay here is short!

  • @tosh24 I’m so sorry for your losses and difficulty getting pregnant. *TW children mentioned* This was my first lost. I’m lucky to have three healthy children (ages 4, 3, and 16 months). It’s hard because for some naive reason I didn’t think a miscarriage would happen to me since my first three pregnancies were completely uncomplicated. I also sometimes feel guilty that I want one more in the first place. Like maybe my loss happened because I’m too greedy? So many families are trying so hard to just have one healthy child. *End TW*
  • mamaabc Sorry for your loss! Remember that the MC is NOT your fault. You are NOT too greedy. You want the family and kids that YOU want. It can be hard for those of us to see large families when we're doing all we can to get ONE baby, but at least you're cognizant that we're out there! I hope you're successful with your next PG!

  • @mamaabc I know what you mean. When I started my IVF cycle I felt so guilty. I was sitting in a room with one of the nurses and I just broke down and confessed that I didn't feel like I had a right to be there and that I was "taking a spot" from a couple who was trying so hard just to have one child. The nurse was really great and said absolutely not and that there were multiple couples at the clinic doing IVF for their 3rd and even 4th child. Every couple has a vision for their family and it doesn't automatically drop down to "one child" just because there are fertility issues or loss. I've learned that we can be so grateful for the children we have been given, while still longing to fulfill that aching in our heart for another.

  • @mamabc14 I'm so sorry for your loss, welcome to the board. *TW children mentioned* my very first pregnancy ended in a MMC at 8 weeks. Then I went on to have two beautiful boys. When we decided to TTC#3 I didn't think there was any way that lightning would strike twice. I was completely gutted when my fourth pregnancy ended in a NMC. Honestly having my boys has really helped, because it keeps me busy and take my mind off of TTC. With my first MC TTC was on my mind 24/7 and it drove me bsc. *TW over*  I hope your stay is short!
