I have a head cold and finally called out sick today from work. I keep getting all of this emails and assignments. I have no guilt in ignoring them at the moment. I've barely gotten out of bed to shower, brush my teeth, and pee. I'm currently laying propped up in bed with tissue stuck up one nostril, a humidifier blowing directly on me, and my puppy dog laying up against me making sure Im okay. Wishing I could pop some Nyquil and call it a night.
Haha, I was thinking the same thing but I just had food poisoning in the last week so it’s fresh on my mind. @Lelo2006 @gspmom21 If you are used to eating food that has been sitting out, you have a better chance of being okay. I used to live with a family that always left their food on the counter for days and would eat it and they had iron stomachs and never got sick, but my mom and I couldn’t eat leftovers at their house because we’d get food poisoning.
@gspmom21 that is hilarious and the best confession I’ve ever heard!
@ashbub714 I always worried about sushi too but love it so much so I’ll just eat the cooked rolls! I did read recently though that’s it’s not as bad as was once thought... I’m forgetting why of course but I did read it somewhere!
Ugh today I found out that my team is likely losing headcount and some of us may need to find a new team in the company. Of course I’m flipped out because I’ll be in a weird position where I either interview and am honest that I’ll be on mat leave for 5 months and risk getting passed up because of it.. or not bring it up and feel bad a month later when I tell them btw- not gonna be here from June-Dec. Really hoping I can just stay where I’m at but has been a not great day. Got McDonald’s at lunch to eat away my feelings.
I hope this doesn’t make me sound as horrible as it makes me feel to say it but it’s the truth- i can’t stand my husbands 4yr old nephew. He’s too high strung for me. My anxiety can handle it. Everyone decided to leave me alone with DS and nephew. Omg i can’t take it. My SIL with her usual rudeness and judgment had to say something about us having another and how it will be harder with a newborn...it has only started May God give me patience!
@ashbub714 Do it! My PN nurse told me the reason sushi is so warned against during pregnancy, is that it's one of the common foods where food poisoning is concerned, and it's the DEHYDRATION from food poisoning during pregnancy that concerns doctors. She told me that if it's a reputable place that I've been to several times and never had an issue with, it's more than likely to perfectly fine (but to keep an eye out for the amount of mercury). Seriously, though, go now before you show too much. The staff can be a little overbearing when it comes to sushi and pregnancy (probably to protect themselves, which I get, but last pregnancy I felt like screaming "I know what I'm doing! I have doctor permission!") Also. Now I desperately want a caterpillar role and a spicy salmon roll... and maybe some tataki... and a seaweed salad, lol.
@wildtot your SIL's comment is annoying. Of course 2 is harder than one, but it's also way different when it's your own kid!! Either way, it gets better as you establish new routines. Plus, when they get a bit older, they start playing with and entertaining each other.
I know I get overwhelmed sometimes when I have a tough day with the kids we have and then think about adding another to the equation, but I figure we'll adapt. You'll figure it out. It may get crazy, but it will be a mostly good crazy.
I didn't eat dinner bc I was super full from lunch and now I'm binge eating chocolate chip banana muffins in bed. I gotta get better at pregnancy eating! Sigh.
I told a lazy coworker off today at my second job. She clocked out early and tried to leave when she had not finished her jobs and I was late doing mine because she took forever to finish hers. which were dependent on being done for me to finish mine. I dont feel bad and I hope she feels like crap.
Also I find it funny how June is so up in arms about the Sex thread haha some battles just arent worth fighting ladies (june) We would rather save our energy/snark for fun ones like pregnancy hacks

@lindsayleigh1989 well they're not wrong, but I agree with the pick your battles philosophy. We had a rough start as a BMB so if a cluttered gender thread is our worst issue right now I'll take it.
Also from my lurking...I do like June's idea of starting a 2nd tri ultrasound thread that isn't as obviously named so we don't get as many random drive by uterus photos from people who don't post anywhere else.
@beanship when picking out names for our son, H tested them out by saying "now batting, (insert name here)." Not quite the same aspiration as a Dr or chief justice, but same idea haha.

This is my MIL. She’ll feed us 8 day old chicken mixed in with something else. She’s a vegetarian so of course she doesn’t have to eat it....
I finally have a confession! I did a mini wine tasting today and it was delicious. Just a little pick and choose of what to taste. I regret nothing... well, I maybe regret the chili I had for lunch... and the oreo mcflurry I had afterwards. Woops.
@acunamatada I see what you did there, lol. *begins queuing Bette Midler, Wind Beneath My Wings*

My confession... in almost 12 weeks of pregnancy, I think I can count the number of servings of vegetables I've eaten.
I’m so opposite. When not pregnant my veggie intake was awful. Like so bad. But this pregnancy has me craving everything green and colorful! A whole new palate.
@4deep That is great! I wish I could say the same. I feel so guilty but most everything grosses me out these days aside from cereal or bread and butter!
@babybakie I did so well with veggies the first several weeks but in the last couple of weeks I’ve had 2 packs of salad go bad in my fridge. The road to Hell is paved with good intentions. Lol.
@hayhay93 I cannot keep salad from going bad. I throw away bad salad like every time I buy it. It’s ridiculous. And usually it’s within the same week that I bought it! The humidity must be way off in my fridge or something. It’s driving me nuts.
+1 to throwing away bad salad all the time. The only way I can make myself actually use salad is buying a head of lettuce. If I throw it in a zip lock bag and squeeze out as much air as possible it lasts way longer than bagged salad, and even though putting a salad together is slightly more work I am oddly more likely to eat it!
I will have to start buying stuff to prepare salads instead of bagged or boxed. My fridge must be doing something funky too, because sometimes the salad goes bad within 2 or 3 days. We basically have zero counter space in our apartment, so I’ve always opted for things I don’t have to pull out a cutting board for, but I think I’ll have to start doing it anyways because it’s such a waste of money otherwise!!
@hayhay93 put them together all at once in mason jars! You do have to dump them out into a bowl so it wastes dishes but I've done that before (without the dressing) and its super convenient!
@babybakie@ashbub714 SAME. Veggies just make me want to gag right now. Occasionally I crave salad which is good, but I also want NOTHING to do with fruit unless it is applesauce or peach cups. This poor baby is probably made of carbs. hoping second tri gets rid of the food aversions/nausea/gagging
