@lindsayleigh1989 that sounds frightening lol. I have some midwest and east coast transplant friends that make fun of Californians for our cold intolerance but they get soft after a couple years out here too
Anyone ever wonder if anyone on here is secretly famous and just chatting on the bump like a regular person? I had this thought after I read a story on how there are so many famous couples that are currently pregnant.
It's me. I'm like, totally famous guys.
Meagan Married 6.12.10 DS 11.8.12 Baby GIRL! due 7.4.18
I'm so out of touch, I had to Google who Joanna Gaines is. LOL. I do love the idea of being pregnant at the same time as a famous person, especially when they're in their mid to upper 30's like me. During my last pregnancy (TW - which ended) I was going to be sharing my pregnancy with Beyonce. I was SO excited. LOL!

I lived in Boston for 4 years during college and I SWEAR 50 degrees there felt so much warmer than 50 degrees here in CA. I don't know if it has anything to do with humidity or fancy science stuff or it's all in my head, but that was my experience.
@DynamiteTrujillo last pregnancy I shared partially with Kate Middleton. Seeing her looking so well put together shortly after having her baby as opposed to how much of a hot mess I was is still somewhat funny to me
@amylu914 I vote head, lol, because you aren't used to it there, and boston gets so much colder than that. I say this because here in VT, when we start winter, that first day its 20 degrees I am like, HOLY BALLS ItS COLD. Then in march when its starts hitting 20 and 30 again from single digits and negatives, I am like, YES THIS IS SO WARM I DONT NEED A COAT! So I think it has to do with what you're body is used to at the time.
@SmashJam I'm totally feeling like that right now. After a week of not getting about 0, even 10 feels wonderful now (no gloves, not hat needed). But even a month ago I would have been freezing. Crazy how fast the body adjusts.

@runsomewhere, I can relate to the California thing! I grew up there but have now been living in the Boston area for 15 years. Your body tolerance definitely adjusts depending on where you live!
@christycalifornia that Colorado (I think that's where you live now?) cold is toughening you up girl! And, I totally get the super tender arm for a day or 2 after the flu shot too.
DD got two Disney movies for Christmas. She doesnt get much tv time, but we had a snow day today. After playing in the snow I decided to pop in a movie while I worked from home a bit. Y’all, the Lion King is way darker than I remembered! Murder, betrayal, and evil hyenas! Luckily DD didn’t seem too bothered, though she did get a concerned, furrowed brow a couple times!
@tarheelgirl8 it is! It's a darker Bambi! And how Scar promises the hyenas the world then when they realize he lied to get into power they eat him? Fierce!
@christycalifornia there were a couple times I actually debated turning it off! I remembered scar being bad, but mostly just remembered akuna matata and circle of life...
DD also got Beauty and the Beast. Should I prescreen that one? Lol. Apparently my memory of these childhood movies sucks!
@tarheelgirl8 I know! I haven't seen these movies in years, and totally forgot them! I don't know, I think Beauty and the Beast is way less violent than Lion King, if your kid was fine with that. Up to your comfort level though, I suppose.
@tarheelgirl8 Beauty and the Beast is much nicer, in my opinion. It's a lot more hopeful than Lion King. The scariest part for a kid would probably be the wolves, and maybe the Beast at first. It's a mostly happy movie.
@lindsayleigh1989 That is so dumb. Do people have no common sense? Hope it gets off your property soon!
Btw. Fun little storm update. It started late, but got upped to a blizzard and 10-14 inches. Woot!
@SmashJam I got myself a doppler and haven't been able to find a heartbeat yet. Well, I found MY heartbeat haha. I keep trying to tell myself that the baby is just still too small and I'm too impatient.
@amylu914 Regarding showers for second babies, where I live people tend to do a "sprinkle" for second babies. I think a "sprinkle" is like a baby shower lite. Just a small celebration with much fewer gifts. My friend who had a "sprinkle" registered for like a few cute onesies, some bottle nipples and pacis, and a couple of bonnets and bibs
@runsomewhere okay...Please send snow to Orange County, CA, just for a little bit. P.s. Are you getting rain yet? I see we are supposed to get rain next week.
@WorkinWeezel@nimmle SO there with you about the constipation. That's been me for the past 11 weeks. I think I may have finally found my winning combination, though: Fiber One bar, Activia yogurt, and a diet coke for breakfast, giant glass of prune juice and Colace at night, plus All The Water. It's worked for the past 3 days, so I'm not changing ANYTHING.
@tarheelgirl8 Yeah some Disney movies are wayyyy darker than you thought they were if you watch them as an adult. I had the misfortune of watching part of Dumbo as an adult. Ummm who decided that it was a good idea to make a movie about an infertile mom who finally gets her baby, then everyone makes fun of how her baby looks, so she defends her baby and is then locked in a cage?!? WTAF Disney? WTAF!?
ETA: and yes I realize I'm responding piecemeal to a bunch of different parts of this thread, but it's hard trying to catch up.
I hated Cali even though i grew up there. There is no such thing as weather, so I’m loving the CO bipolar weather! Still puzzles me that people drive better in snow than rain?! For get rain in Cali! No one knows how to drive in rain (sorry don’t mean to hurt any feelings).
A lot of Disney movies are way scarier as an adult. Also, I used to LOVE Dirty Dancing as a kid; watched it again as an adult and called my mom on it- hello? Dirty abortion? Wtf mom?
What are your thoughts on a Baby Shower for someone that wasn't expecting more kids and got rid of literally everything....?!?!?!?! I'm not expecting one, but would greatly appreciate our parents throwing us a bone and helping us with a few purchases. Also working on getting a lot of hand-me-downs!
Totally random: Conversation with my 8 year old niece...
Niece: Do you know If you're having a boy or a girl? Me: not yet Niece: what do you think you're having? Me: I don't know. What do you think I'm having? Niece: a girl Me: what of its a boy? Niece: then I'll scream in disappointment. I already have enough boy cousins. Me: McKayla is still a baby and shes a girl (referring to my 1 year old niece). Niece: yeah but she has teeth and bites. So she doesn't count. Me: ummm...okay Niece: so you're having a girl, right?!
Whhhaaaaaattt!?!? I love our conversations however sometimes she says some weird crap.
@wildtot yup, no one in Cali knows how to drive into the rain. We get it too infrequently! Lol. But man, these CO drivers! I've literally never experienced road rage before moving here. I don't know if it's just the area I'm in (Denver to Boulder) but people drive like freaking morons. I've become the most defensive driver in the world. People run stop signs, lights, use turning lanes and shoulders to pass, no one allows merges, I just can't. Californians may be agressive drivers, but at least I could trust them to follow the rules of the road. People here drive TERRIBLY and they get mad at ME for being a normal driver! Sorry for the rant, but I get so MAD!
Yeah I guess i should pull back on my request for rain because that also means a good 5-10 crashes on my commute to and from work. I want rain but only when I dont have to be somewhere. Work with me, California.
So on the topic of showers. I never really had one because i was on disability and couldn’t fit all those people in an upstairs one bed apartment. This time again I’m pretty sure i won’t get one because we moved 1000+ miles away from everyone. Still debating if i should even do a registry to share. I have them but just to get the free stuff right now lol

We had rain last night and it looks like we're getting more tomorrow, then nice weekend weather.
