@lindsayleigh1989@acunamatada I just caught up on that thread. IS SHE F*CKING SERIOUS?!? How condescending and self righteous can one person be? Sorry for the caps and curse, but what she did was the epitome of intolerable rudeness.
Wait?! What did I miss lol?! I go away foe my drs appt and miss something good??? Or maybe bad in this case lol

@kissableviv you're probably fine! Good luck! I always wanted to get certified, although I've gotten away from practicing... need to get back to it! I swear that's why I was able to push out my 9lb12oz baby girl last time!
I'm kind of uneasy because I haven’t had an ultrasound yet where I got to see my baby. I am 14 weeks. I thought for sure on my first prenatal check up I had last week I would. I have a Doppler left over from my first pregnancy so it gives me some relief to hear the heartbeat... along with feeling the random movements he/she does in there. Finding another midwife or OB at this time is not possible. I had waited forever to get an appointment.
I was excited to have a midwife for this pregnancy because I wanted less interference than what I had with my first. I had to get a csection but I always wonder in the back of my head was it completely necessary? Anyways, meeting with my midwife was fine for a few minutes until discussing breastfeeding. She shunned me for only breast feeding a month because my supply ran out. I’m certain it’s a West Indian thing because she sucked her teeth when I told her. Lol. (I am West Indian also, teeth sucking is common to hear around friends and family.) I just wish she had responded to my issue positively? Maybe I was asking too much or a bit sensitive because of my hormones. Anyways, I’m open to breast feeding longer and getting help to keep up my supply but I don’t want to feel pressured. With my first, I cried because I couldn’t reach my goal of one year. I felt really bad and just gave in to formula because I knew just eating was best for him and for me in that situation. I tried the tea and cookies and nothing worked. I hope this time around I can produce more milk.
STM and not in maternity clothes yet, but I did pull out the tote! I don’t know when it will be this time around - I am 8 lbs below my previous pre pregnancy weight and I don’t gain weight in first tri - so although my belly has “popped” all maternity clothes I have are sooo baggy. Going to be wearing the Bella bands for awhile!

@runsomewhere the last time i was preggo it was 8 months after I gave birth to DS and my boss was like, "WHAT?! WERE YOU TRYING?!" I was like, you just asked me if I was intentionally timing my husband's sperm entering my vagina. THink about that. lol
@SmashJam omg my boss asked me the same thing this time!! Wtf, I don't want to discuss my birth control (or lack thereof) with my boss lol.
@chicxulub I'm sorry you had that experience with your midwife, I don't think openly passing judgment on you was appropriate of her and I don't think you're just being over sensitive/hormonal. As far as supply issues, I always found "power pumping" helped a lot when I needed to get my supply up. I never found the teas or cookies helped me at all. I hope you can be successful this time if that's what you want, but don't let a midwife or doctor or anyone else pressure you into it or make you feel guilty.
@lindsayleigh1989 me too! I haven't been around much with the holidays and work stuff and being sick, but I haven't seen anyone jump down anyone's throat...

@MrsMiller8588 exactly! it has not happened at all the only threads shut down have been the post and runs! I just don't appreciate the jabs I felt it was made pretty known legit threads are fine to be started.it is the completely random ones or ones that are clearly just post and runs by people who have never posted before.
@chicxulub wow, that was really unprofessional of your MW, I’m sorry you had to go through that. I don’t think you’re being hormonal, breastfeeding is a personal decision and there are many reasons both personal and medical that women can’t or choose not to bf. She could have at least offered support and guidance in trying to bf with your next baby. That being said power pumping, Gatorade, and occasionally fenugreek really helped boost my supply when I felt like I needed it, but I also never have a huge deficit.
ugh my mom is itching to tell my grandparents, she even asked my sister when she should tell them, what?! Geez let me have my glory and do it my way. This is why my family never comes to me to see how I am doing, they just depend on my parents for updates.
My favorite words tonight were: "just go upstairs and lay down if u want. I've got it covered down here with my magic daddy powers." Said minutes after he arrived home, rescued me from two children literally throwing their bodies around my bed (with me on it) and screaming loudly at me and each other. He brought them downstairs and got their dinner served and added some fresh fruit to their plates...and now I'm upstairs while he plays old school Mario World with them. I love my husband.
@lindsayleigh1989, come now...I haven't called anyone the board police in a while! Haha
@chicxulub that was rude of her. Shaming a mom trying/who tried doesn't make it happen any easier. Good luck this next time. My supply dried up earlier than planned too and it is frustrating. With my second I drank a ton of water before and after every feed and pump, like a full 16oz in one frat boy chug (can only do with room temp water haha).
So on my first (well, this one too) I went the IVF route which means weekly appointments, sometimes more often, so I had to stay in constant communication with my boss. She had actuallu done IVF too, so we would chat it up about the process. It was awkward AF at first, but at least she was semi understanding of the situation
Does anyone have any experience with whey protein during pregnancy? I’m planning on asking my OB, but I’ve had a morning protein smoothie for years and never thought much of it.
Today I got a new container in the mail and was reading through the ingredients and there’s a “discontinue use while pregnant” warning on the side. The Internet is suspiciously torn on the topic and I’m just curious if anyone has personal experience!
@samjjorgensen I have used shakeology during pregnany but I cant remember if that contains whey. my ob just had me use that and folic acid instead of my prenatal once I hit second tri. Asking your ob or calling your nurseline would be good options to find out their stance
@samjjorgensen I am using whey protein to try and up my protein intake in my morning smoothies and I mentioned that to my midwife and she didn't seem concerned. It's probably the only way I'll get the protein in.
THat being said...did anyone else know that there is pre-natal and post natal protein powder you can take? I noticed it while googling the whey protein question. Would be pretty cool if it also contained all your prenatal vitamins but the one in the add I saw did not.
Eeeekk! I was trying to find the hb with my Doppler tonight and nug REALLY didn’t like it... I could feel it moving around! I swear it kicked it twice before I could get a hb, but that also could’ve been feedback
WOW you all are chatty in 2018! I was gone one day and come back to three pages! I love it.
This kid GREW today! All day long, pressure pressure pressure, and my uterus is literally an inch higher than it was this morning. I'm growing up, though, not out. I don't look any different from the side even though I'm so incredibly uncomfortable. Seriously, I don't know so much growth was possible in a day, and I don't remember being this uncomfortable until closer to third tri. Hopefully I'll get a break between growth spurts.
AND I have my first meeting with my midwife tomorrow (she was in a labor during my last appointment so I met with one of the practices OBs) AND AND the doll for my daughter finally came, so we get to do her reveal tomorrow so she'll know if she's getting a brother or sister! Tomorrow's gonna be a good day, I can feel it.
@christycalifornia HAHA good to know, thank you! I’m going to call my nurse line today and see what they think. I’ll update after for anyone interested!
@samjjorgensen not sure if you're set on whey, but I use Vega protein and greens which has been nice since veggies are like, the last thing I've wanted to eat lately (it has 2 servings of greens). It's a plant-based protein so no concerns for pregnancy (as far as I know!)
I also just got some Vital Proteins collagen protein powder because I'm prone to stretch marks and my skin has been a mess. Has anyone used this in a previous pregnancy?
@zande2016 if it makes you feel any better we announced on New Years Day at 11 weeks. I dont have my scan until NEXT Friday which seems so far away Just staying positive and sending positive vibes your way xoxo
@babygagnon2018 thank you, best of luck to you on your scan!! Mine went well yesterday so that's a relief.
@Lelo2006 I still got gel manis all through my first pregnancy and had no issues. This time I haven't gotten my nails done at all because I'm broke but that's another story
I thought the DH controlling eating post response (by OP) was sad. Exhibiting all the victim behavior. Something is very wrong with that relationship. Even though she was pretty terrible in her response, I still hope she's ok.
@runsomewhere the last time i was preggo it was 8 months after I gave birth to DS and my boss was like, "WHAT?! WERE YOU TRYING?!" I was like, you just asked me if I was intentionally timing my husband's sperm entering my vagina. THink about that. lol
@smashjam - there is nothing weirder than people asking "were you trying??" WTF!
@ckmb_knottie and @samjjorgensen I use collagen and used it before. I'm trying to be more consistent with it! I put it in smoothies, oatmeal, yogurt. I have not had protein powder in a while. Vega is a good clean brand so I'm sure it's fine!
