This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.
Diagnosis (if you've been):
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?):
How are things going?:
Any questions?:
GTKY: If you had to chose someone from TTGP to go grab a drink with, who would it be and why?
Re: IF Testing & Treatment - Weekly Thread 12/24
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WFIVF
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IVF!
How are things going?: Pretty good. Still debating another dog. Sooooo many first world problems..
Any questions?:
GTKY: If you had to chose someone from TTGP to go grab a drink with, who would it be and why?
I think I would go out with @beachbunnyxo123 since I continually feel we are the same human
Diagnosis: High AMH, High Prolactin, PCOM, Fragile x carrier
Status: WTO (I think.. see below)
What are you doing this cycle: Femara days 3-7. We have a sit down with the RE next week to talk about the next step. I have one last refill for Femara, so we will decide what we are doing.
How are things going? Good. Excited to talk to the RE and put plans in place.
Any questions: For those of you have done IUI, what was the reasoning? From what I gather, IUI is especially helpful for MFI, but my H's counts are great. I think our problem is only me, and if I have an egg issue, IUI wouldn't benefit us, right? I am trying to get my questions/concerns ready, and I think IVF might just be our next step. Of course we will have to check with insurance, but I don't want to "waste" time.
GTKY: I think I would love to grab a drink with everyone honestly. JRM has been cracking me up with her in law talk lately, so we could connect on that. I would want to shop with Kiwi for sure. Madewell
ETA words
@Redpuma119 We went with IUI partly because our diagnosis is unexplained, and partly because our insurance won't cover IVF and we can't afford it OOP.
Diagnosis (if you've been): unexplained
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WFAF
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Medicated IUI round 3
How are things going?: Mixed. Yesterday we got the news that the last IUI cycle failed, so that was hard. I had been pretty pessimistic though, so it wasn't nearly as rough as the first failed cycle. I'm enjoying being off from work. I was going to do a bit of prep for next semester today, but realized I don't have the materials I would need. Oh well! I'd better just watch movies and crochet cat hats. And do laundry, I guess.
Any questions?: Nothing right now!
GTKY: If you had to chose someone from TTGP to go grab a drink with, who would it be and why? Ooh, hard question! There are so many awesome women on here, and a TTGP party would be a blast. @jrm_14 would be a lot of fun to hang out with (can Charlie come too?), and I'd also love to grab a drink with @blackhottamales and @nitnat007.
@Redpuma119 So glad you have a meeting with the RE for a plan
Diagnosis (if you've been): AMA, MFI (0 morph)
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WFAF
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): On our own until AF shows up, then IUI #2 (IUI #1 with new RE)
How are things going?: Good. Just waiting for AF to show - most likely Friday. Then starting Clomid and Gonal F for the next IUI. Decided that if the IUI doesn't work, then we are going to sit down with the RE and get the IVF train going
Any questions?: Nope
GTKY: If you had to chose someone from TTGP to go grab a drink with, who would it be and why? Each and every one of you! But if I had to choose one, definitely @50wife. She and I talk A LOT and have so much in common - I think we'd have so much fun, especially if booze was involved.
TTC #2 - August 2016
MFI
IUI #1-3 BFN
BFP 4/21/18 MMC 6/11/18
@Redpuma119 we did IUI just to basically increase our chances a bit but with endometriosis we kind of knew we might need IVF.
Diagnosis (if you've been): secondary IF due to endometriosis
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WFIVF
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): AF should be here by tomorrow and then we begin IVF!
How are things going?: we had a really nice holiday and it was so nice having a relaxed, non medicated cycle. Just excited to begin the next step!
Any questions?: nope.
GTKY: If you had to chose someone from TTGP to go grab a drink with, who would it be and why? Any of my IFers really but definitely @50Wife and @RVAmom315 because we are dealing with a lot of the same things right now. And @purplg8r so we can discuss books!

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): nada. Kinda NTNP
How are things going?: OK. I’m happy right now that I have my big trip to look forward to.
Any questions?: I’m only on cd9. The earliest I’ve ever Od on my own is cd 21. **tw**. Since my ectopic a year ago, I’ve had O pain every time on my left side (the ectopic side) except 3 times (1 time I had no O pain and 2 times theO pain was on my right). This last cycle was on the right side. I’m now having what feels like O pain on my left side. Debating taking an opk just to see but it’s way too early for me to be anywhere close to Oing. Any other reason for this pain?
GTKY: If you had to chose someone from TTGP to go grab a drink with, who would it be and why? Oh man. Can’t we all just have one big meetup???
@shortstack930 how exciting you’re starting!! What meds are you doing?
@RVAmom315 Glad you have a back up plan but I’m hoping you don’t have to use it.
@darkstar42 Sorry for the disappointing news. You sound like you need this day to just veg out and relax
@Redpuma119 Glad you’re excited about your up coming app with the RE. We never got the chance for IUI. Sometimes I feel like we missed out but then sometimes Im Glad we didn’t waste time... knowing now IUI probably wouldn’t had worked for us anyway.
Diagnosis (if you've been):
MFI + Septate uterus = IVF
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): IVF in the process of finishing up today!
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): ALMOST DONE! Probably triggering tonight for a Friday ER just waiting for my call!
How are things going?: hanging in there. Didn’t think I’d be stimming for this long but it is what it is. Have lots of good size follicles on the right over 12 follicles, lost count lol and about 7 follicles in left! (didn’t get measurements but heard lots of high numbers)
Any questions?:
GTKY: If you had to chose someone from TTGP to go grab a drink with, who would it be and why? @beachbunnyxo123 I mean we have the same surgeon so we’re kinda friends by default
It certainly feels like the TTGP IF club has had a tougher time than normal these last few months. Lots of love to all.
Diagnosis: DOR, autoimmune issues - though I guess I should add AMA too...
Status: WFAF (and thanking my body for not bringing CD1 before Thursday in the end so we’re home in time for CD3 stims)
What are you doing this cycle? IVF#3 - no suppression in advance, straight into 300 Pergoveris each day from CD3. Hoping the higher dose gives us a few good follies this time. Please please cooperate again oh dodgy body of mine!
How are things going? Overall ok. Very relieved that AF didn’t come too early and delay this next IVF cycle. It’s funny what you become thankful for... A bit sad I have my normal preAF symptoms as with the HSG this cycle I had this little dream in my head we would get some HSG magic. Also our first wedding anniversary is on Sunday and we had both hoped we would be KU by then. Xmas with the family was good and no major trigger moments with all the small ones - but it suddenly hit DH and we had to go for a walk for an hour where he shared that he found it hard seeing everyone with multiple kids and we’re fighting sooooo hard to try to get one. I’m glad he shared it so I could remove him and support him, but sad he’s also hit the point of being triggered.
Any questions? Not for today
GTKY: I would probably say @dragonette505, @adirat and @jrm_14 all for different reasons where we connect. And sorry I know that’s cheating saying more than one person!
@redpuma119 thanks for starting this, I felt something was missing but couldn’t figure out what! I’m surprised with your fragile x they haven’t recommended IVF with PGD already.
And yes you’re quite right that IUI has Best success rates with mild MFI. Success rates are only one part - invasiveness, cost, speed, insurance and personal acceptance all come into it too. One of the podcasts recently said if the goal was to just get everyone a take home baby as fast as possible, then everyone would go straight to IVF with PGS. Which of course is too extreme, but where is the right line is very subjective.
I hope whatever you decide you’re happy with the next step you choose.
@kiwi2628 are you on BCP or Lupron right now? When will you start stims? I’m watching with great interest how this protocol works for you and Fx it’s much better than last time!

@Redpuma119 I’m interested to see what answers you get. Except for the presence of round cells, H’s numbers are really good. I guess I’m hoping that my eggs will be better since I’m Oing earlier. Or that the IUI will help them meet better.
@darkstar42 I’m so sorry the IUI didn’t work. Sending you hugs!
@RVAmom315 fx this iui is it for you!
@shortstack930 yes! I feel like we have the same taste in books!
@purplg8r I would say nothing to lose trying the OPKs just in case. I have had daily cramps like my former O pain since my first stim cycle. The RE checked on US each month since and did an HSG and Saline Sono, but everything looks good so no explanation. It still creeps me out. If you haven’t I would suggest getting them to do an TVUS just to check there’s no cysts hanging around. And if it gets bad please go to the ER. My sister in laws sister had this the last months and ended up with an emergency lap on 21st to untwist an ovarian torsion. Though that’s rare of course!
@shortstack930 are you going onto BCP first or starting stims on CD3? If you’re going straight in we should have synced stim cycles!
@RVAmom315 oooh you should be stimming on the same timeline too for your IUI! I’m trying to think of it as a very active start to the new year.

@shortstack930 Jan 2nd! And yay for you starting! I assume you are starting stims on CD2 or CD3? That means I will only be starting a few days after you!
@emmasemm I am currently on day 10 of 12 days of BC, then I start MD lupron on the 2nd and stims on the 3rd
@Redpuma119 I’m glad you’re feeling good about the upcoming RE appt! Sorry you have IL issues, too!
@darkstar42 I was also wondering if they talked to you about injectables. Crochet all the cat hats! ❤️ And of course Charlie would come with us!
@RVAmom315 Are you doing a trigger shot, as well? Do you meds get ordered before CD1 or only after the cycle starts?
@shortstack930 Yor holiday sounds like it went well!
@purplg8r Yes to the big meet up!
@ndz2018 GL on th trigger & retrieval! Next up- removing that septum!!
@emmasemm I heard that same thing about fast take home babies & IVF In Beat Infertility earlier this week!! It is so hard for me to see Mh upset about kids. I can only imagine you & yours. ((Hugs)). It sounds good that you were able to be supportive as a result of his communicating his emotions.
Diagnosis (if you've been): Adrenal/ovarian insufficiency, autoimmune, low progesterone.
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTOish
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Finishing testing and moving onto injectable IUI next cycle!
How are things going?: I’m an anxious ball of nerves. Between family stuff, car trouble, work, and not knowing WTF the plan is at the RE, I’m super on edge. I know my meds & doses. I know the outline of th cycle. I want to know why I don’t get med orders until CD1, reasons they’d cancel, rates of other things, how it will work with my new insurance Jan 1, and so many other things. I am going to email them after I see my last client here in a hot minute.
Any questions?: Did anyone only get meds after CD1 of IUI cycle? What is the baseline u/s’s purpose?
GTKY: So many, for so many reasons! Staying on the IF thread, I’d say @darkstar42, @Redpuma119, @emmasemm. Venturing off, I’d also add @lurvleybunchococonuts and @nitnat007. So many! I’m bad at picking only one
@emmasemm BCP for about 2-3 weeks first. I’m excited for you to start!
@ndz2018 I start on Lupron, then Gonal-F, then adding in Menopur. Glad you’re finishing up with stims!

@purplg8r Have you had a monitoring ultrasound yet? It could be a small cyst causing the pain. I would do opks and double check with your doc, its definitely possible to have a wonky cycle out of the blue while being medicated. Hopefully its not O pains or if it is it doesn't mess anything up!
AFM: After a holiday week with my grandchild obsessed in laws, I am very much looking forward to a weekend of intentional self care. We are in adoption limbo, ready to get started but still financially not in a place to do so. We're okay with it, (most days,) but it still sucks to be standing still and not actively trying for our baby. Someone close to us told me this week that "she thought we would totally have baby by now." And that stung. Because like....no shit.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): I should be ovulating any day. Which means AF is just over a week away, ish. And then all the IVF things next cycle. EEEEK. So right now I am just organizing my meds and stuff.
How are things going?:It's okay. I'm super nervous and anytime I really start to think about it, I get all terrified at the many ways this can get screwed up. But I try to reel myself in and take it one step at a time. It's rough.
Any questions?: I ended up getting some follistim and some gonal. the pens are different, right? I can't use them interchangeably?

@jrm_14 I haven’t had an IUI yet but my dr has said that I only get my prescription for Letrozole and Ovidrel after my monitoring appt on cd1-3
@tamalahoops since we weren’t doing an IUI until after the first of the year due to switching to H’s insurance (and now until after mid February due to my Europe trip), I haven’t had an u/s since the cycle before last. If it’s a cyst, it should go away on it’s own right? Any idea of how long? And wow—that’s so insensitive of that person! Do take care of yourself-/you deserve it!
Like me I said mine were ordered when I was there (it was like CD 21 or something) and to be used/started with the next cycle (well whenever cycle I was going to start which is this next one soon as AF shows up)
I hope that helps!

@tamalahoops no kidding at no shit to that comment. I normally boil more on the inside, but if someone said that in front of DH right now I’m not sure I could stop him from flattening whoever said it... We’ve avoided certain relatives and old school friends of mine this trip home as I know we can’t handle all the comments that come with seeing them. My parents haven’t asked this time. So far.
@shortstack930 ahah yes I remember your cycle is pretty much synced with @beachbunnyxo123 if I remember
@redpuma119 I think you’re right that you have enough evidence that something could be up to have the discussion. My RE also said the path often depends on if you really want a diagnosis/result or if you are ok to jump straight to a solution without necessarily knowing the route cause. Because of my situation we skipped the finding out why and do the kitchen sink of extras every time just in case (ie all the things that can’t hurt, but might not help if that’s not your specific issue). Some might say that’s overkill, I say every month could be my last egg so I can’t waste 6-12 months getting perfect answers but by then being in menopause! And maybe I need all the kitchen sink measures anyhow after all that! Doesn’t satisfy the scientist in me, but I hope satisfies another need instead.

@jrm_14 YES! Can’t wait to get that removed! I may have to call and see if I can’t move this surgery up, just got some news and I may need to be traveling at the end of the month in Jan .
Eta: Mine were all gone by the start of the next cycle. I was benched for I think 2 cycles? because of a huge one that needed a little extra time to shrink back. After IVF I had one that, for all I know, is still there. It was still there in June after my last ultrasound. Just hanging out making me mildly uncomfortable on occasion.

@RVAmom315 Fx for your IUI with the new protocol! Can I ask why they decided to change the protocol? Was it based on your response to the previous one?
@shortstack930 So hopeful for your IVF cycle!
@purplg8r Adding my voice to looking into the possibility of a cyst.
@ndz2018 I definitely needed a relaxing day! Yay for your ER! That’s so soon!
@emmasemm MH had a moment like that on Christmas too. Seeing his brother’s kid was really triggering for him. It’s sad to see. They aren’t changing the protocol for me this cycle. Still just letrozole and a trigger shot. I think because I’m unexplained and all our numbers look good my RE wanted to try three rounds with this protocol before changing things up. I think if this one fails they would try injectibles.
@jrm_14 They’re having me do one more round of the some protocol, and then we’ll think about switching it up and doing injectibles. Response to some of your questions in the spoiler. It got a bit long!
@tamalahoops *hugs* I’m so sorry someone said that to you! We all thought we’d have babies or be KU by now, and it doesn’t help to have folks point it out.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): will be doing clomid again, but also have my first RE appointment in 2 weeks
How are things going?: better, now. it was a rough couple of days
Any questions?: any suggestions for decreasing the DH's anxiety about a diagnosis or not?
GTKY: If you had to chose someone from TTGP to go grab a drink with, who would it be and why? there are so many ladies here I'd love to grab a drink with. I'll just be the awkward friend that tags along to some of the groups already meeting up.
@kiwi2628 +1 for another dog.
@Redpuma119 very well said. GL with the RE next week!
@darkstar42 so sorry this last cycle didn't work out for you. Enjoy this time off, you deserve it!
@emmasemm funny the things we're happy about at this point. Glad the CD3 is lining up for you.
@jrm_14 I hope you get the answers you're looking for.
@KristoKekerooni so close! I'm so excited for you; I'm sure you're a bundle of nerves. I think the one day at a time, shoot one hour/minute at a time is a great approach. Stay in the here-and-now to decrease some of that anxiety.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): FET2, Betas on 12/31 and 1/2
How are things going?: So far so good... just feeling much more cautious with my heart this time.
@businesswife Wouldn't a 12/31 + beta be the best capper to this awful year?
I know you are being more cautious this time which I 100% get...just wondering, are you testing early for squinters or not this time?
@avrilmai I'm glad you have an RE appointment scheduled. An unexplained diagnosis must be so frustrating...I hope your husband can deal.
@darkstart42 GL with IUI round 3! Sorry the last one didn't work out. Also - cat hats?! Awesome!
@RVAmom315 I hope this IUI works for you!
@shortstack930 I'm glad you were able to enjoy the holidays, medication free.
@redpuma119 Like you, our IF is not related to MFI, and so we chose to do a few TI cycles. My dx is PCOS. I don't ovulate on my own at all. My reasoning for trying IUI now is because we want to try everything we can before doing IVF. IUI does increase your chances a little even with normal sperm. But that is purely personal choice, and our RE would have been supportive if we had wanted to do IVF straight after our TI cycles and skipped IUI altogether. I can see many reasons for moving straight to IVF. Getting your RE's opinion should be helpful along with balancing it with your own concerns. If you want to chat further, please feel free to PM me! It's a hard decision figuring out when to take the next steps, and there truly is no wrong decision.
@ndz2018 You're so close to the ER now! I'll be thinking of you on Friday!
@emmasemm It's good when you can be a support for each other and aren't both triggered at the same time. But I'm sorry DH was feeling that way. It's hard seeing the guys get upset. Rooting for you this cycle.
@jrm_14 Sorry you're feeling like a ball of nerves. You have a lot going on. When I'm feeling that way sometimes just realizing the amount of stuff I have going on and telling myself "shit, girl, you have so much on your plate and you're still kicking butt" helps. So tell yourself that - because if you can manage everything else and IF treatment, you are most definitely kicking butt. As far as medications, usually, they don't get ordered until my CD 3 b/w & u/s but I have had them ordered ahead of time. Sometimes I think insurance makes you wait to make sure you have no cysts, your hormone levels are appropriate, you're not pregnant, etc.
@tamalahoops I'm sorry you are standing still for now. I hope all the finances come into place for you soon. And I hope people learn to keep their mouths shut about your childbearing status. Hugs.
@avrilmai I'm sorry, I feel like I can't give advice for fear of an "unexplained" dx since I don't have unexplained myself, but I'll have my fingers crossed for you that you get a dx soon, and more importantly, a very good treatment protocol with swift results.
Diagnosis (if you've been): NIR PCOS
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): prednisone, letrozole, gonal-f, trigger, IUI, and progesterone
How are things going?: Alright. Our new treatment plan includes prednisone and triggering a little later than we have been to let my follicles get a little bigger. We'll see if either of these new things does the trick.
Any questions?:
GTKY: If you had to chose someone from TTGP to go grab a drink with, who would it be and why? I'd love to have a cocktail party with all of you, and I am very tempted to list out several of you here. But if I had to pick one (or two), I do think @kristokekerooni and I would have a good chat over drinks, and I know by the spot-on memes sarcasm, and dabbles in fertility feng shui, I'd have a good time getting drinks with @Aurora1973.
@KristoKekerooni Wow- so close! I can only imagine all the feelings you’re having right now. Take care of yourself!
@darkstar42 I change insurance Jan 1. CD1 should be about the 8th. I’m worried with the short turn around time. However, I don’t expect to have anything covered, regardless. Thanks for the detailed breakdown! I like prediction
@RVAmom315 Saving money is always a bonus!
@Avrilmai I wonder with what your H’s fear of the unexplained is connecting. Not having an answer truly sucks on top of all the other suck of IF/TTC. Are there other things you can relate it to that the end result is the most important vs the why? Sorry you’ve had some rough days lately.
@madspunk I love your pep talk! “....and I’m still kicking butt!” ❤️ Best wishes for the new protocol. When is the prednisone taken?
@tamalahoops ok good to know. Maybe if it’s still bothering me next week, I’ll go into see the RE since I’ll be on H’s insurance then
@ndz2018 yay!! So exciting!
@Avrilmai glad you’re feeling better!
@BusinessWife I’m hoping for you so hard!
@madspunk hoping these changes work for you!
@madspunk thanks lady. I hope this new tx plan works for you
@BusinessWife keeping you in my thoughts and hoping for a fabulous end to year for you.

@Redpuma119 we did 4 IUIs and DHs sperm are perfect. Obviously they didn’t work but the only thing that bugged me was at my last practice I saw the midwife more than my RE and she made me do 3 letrozole+TI cycles that my RE said were a waste of time since were unexplained and I ovulate regularly. But I also know people who have moved straight to IVF.
@darkstar42 so sorry for the failed cycle, hugs
@RVAmom315 glad that you have a plan. Hopefully this new RE will help!
@shortstack930 ah IVF so soon! There are so many of us this month!
@purplg8r hm that’s interesting with the O pain. I would start using OPKs if you notice other secondary signs. Maybe O is coming earlier this cycle.
@ndz2018 ah you triggered!!! ER tomorrow woohoo GL!!!!
@emmasemm glad nothing got pushed back for you and IVF this cycle!
@jrm_14 did you wind up with answers from your RE and about ordering meds?
@tamalahoops so sorry friend, that must’ve been so hard to hear. all of the hugs.
@KristoKekerooni sometimes I feel more excited for you to start then I do for me!! Will be keeping you in my prayers that all the timing lines up perfect for you! I O’d on Sunday so I’m just a few days ahead of you!
@Avrilmai sorry if I’m getting this wrong but you’ve been doing the clomid through your OB and are meeting with an RE soon right? Was there any suspicion something was wrong that might lead to a diagnosis for YH?
@BusinessWife ah beta so soon!!! Even though it probably feels like forever. I have my fx so very hard for you! Will be thinking of you!
@madspunk I really hope this new protocol is a success for you!!
