What's going on this week? How are you feeling, any rants or raves? I feel almost completely normal, other than this belly that just keeps expanding, so that's nice. I keep waking up at 4:30am no matter what time I go to bed, so that's not nice. Pretty excited to be 22 weeks for no specific reason at all. I think all the even weeks will be exciting from this point on. Still loving his little (and sometimes big) kicks!

Any upcoming appointments? Biweekly cervical ultrasound on Friday...hoping I get a nice tech who can check the profile for a nasal bone again. I'm relieved the NIPT came back clear, but I'd love some confirmation that he either does or doesn't have a nasal bone. I have these cervix checks until 26 weeks and then a growth scan (because of hypothyroidism) at 32 weeks, so between all of those hopefully I'll have a good idea at some point before he arrives.

GTKY:  Who is your role model and why? Gonna sound super cheesy right here, but it's totally my wife. She always tries to do the right thing, and always seems to know what the right thing is. She's also the hardest working person I know and puts in so much extra time for her students, friends, and family. I look absolutely awful and lazy in comparison, but I'm trying to be more like her every day, and I hope our son follows in her footsteps!

What's going on this week? How are you feeling, any rants or raves? 
Nada! Recovering from moving over the weekend. Such a fun Christmas celebration . I feel pretty good. My body is just tired from being go go go but I'm hoping this weekend will be a little more relaxing.

GTKY:  Who is your role model and why? 

Depends on the context. Growing up my role model was always my big sis, my twin and I wanted to be just like her. Professionally I've worked with several awesome nurses I strive to be like.

What's going on this week? How are you feeling, any rants or raves?  I’m on winter break!  I’m glad the holiday craziness is over. We are focusing on getting DS’s big boy room ready and we are so close to being done. Feeling tired and sick still and taking advantage the of not being at work and resting when possible. Rant- one of my newphews had the worst meltdown over the gift we got him. It was a Lego set we already had and he cried and carried on for a long time about how DS is mean and dumb for getting him something he already has. It sucked. Rave- I have my book club holiday dinner tonight and I’m looking forward to spending time with the ladies there.

GTKY:  Who is your role model and why? I don’t have one in particular, but I look up to my mom, one of the women on our camp directing team, and my mentor teacher. All three have taught me a lot about so many different things and have had a lot of influence on who I am personally and professionally.

What's going on this week? How are you feeling, any rants or raves? 
I decided to trial a day without my Zofran pump today. Wish me luck. I’m so over it and haven’t thrown up in a long time. Hoping to not regress. 

Any upcoming appointments?
next week follow up growth scan due to the HG but I’m packing on the pounds and my belly is growing so I’m not worried. 

GTKY:  Who is your role model and why? 
I also have had nurses that i have worked with that I would love to be just like. And my husband is my skiing role model.

@abhphilly Do you enjoy the extra checkups or not?  I actually get very stressed out even for my routine check-ins. I can't imagine going more than once a month.  I think I actually switch to 2 times a month next month which will no doubt raise my blood pressure.

@rachelg777 Hows the new place?  Does it feel like your home yet?

@mileswithmyles Kids are jerks.  Actually I think  you can tell a lot about a child's personality when they receive gifts. One of my nieces doesn't even care about opening gifts, she just wants to watch other people open the gifts she gave.

22 + 2....I'm on break so who knows what day it is.  Baby is big enough to make me look a little more pregnant everyday.

Rant: Woke up this morning and rushed to the bathroom and I strained really hard and out came the blood.  There was a lot and I was super nervous and called my doctor and she said that it may look like a lot but it probably wasn't.  Anyhow I am back on a diet of bland foods.  The only "exotic" thing I ate yesterday was my homemade potato leek soup....weep womp

Savers Mirror (I painted it silver): 5.99

I am a FTM so don't know if it's silly to have breakables on the bookcase before the kid can crawl...what do you all think? The Beatrix Potter ceramic piece will have a succulent in it and the mermaid has some essential oils in it.

Therapy tomorrow where we will most likely talk about my poop problems.  Money well spent?

There was this one first grade teacher I knew that is the epitome of a kind patient soul.

@justsuzie it is actually, thanks for asking! It’s  super nice to be in a more “homie” place (and with our stuff) since we’ve been doing a furnished house for the last few months. - Another FTM so take my 2 cents with a grain of salt but I think your bookshelf setup looks adorable and cozy for now! Since you already know you’ll have to change it once kiddo starts crawling seems okay to me!

@rachelg777 Do you have a separate room for the nursery and have you started decorating that room yet? I am slowly gathering piece by piece because I thrift almost everything.  It's like treasure hunting!

@justsuzie I’m nervous going into each one, but they calm me down a lot in between (given I don’t get more concerning news). At this point I really want to know what’s going on so I’m thankful I get so many more ultrasounds than would typically be normal. Otherwise I drive myself crazy worrying about various rare syndromes, but I don’t want to do an amnio.

@justsuzie We do have a separate room. I haven’t started decorating yet, but I’m excited to get started! I may have to start some thrifting soon myself.. I could use a book shelf!

@justsuzie I need to get on the thrifting wagon too! Your set up is too cute, and I think you are fine to have breakables on the shelf, it will be a while before LO is mobile so you have plenty of time to move stuff.

@justsuzie my walker doesn’t mess with breakables in the rest of the house, but I wanted to give him a space to touch everything safely. You’re absolutely fine to leave it that way until you can’t anymore, and the set up is adorable.

***TW late term loss***

@abbykm7 it would be really nice if you could use a trigger warning before talking about late term loss.  That really hit me hard when I was reading your post and trying to be concerned for what you are going through and I felt I couldn't even post my own check in with 2 losses under my belt.  We also have several moms here in this DD week with not only losses, but late losses that you mentioned as "just a 21 weeker."  Thanks for considering triggers of others going forward.

@cups4 I’m so sorry. I’m in tears realizing how I affected you. I remember every single family I have cared for with a loss and each one has affected me deeply. I will edit my post to remove that. The point of my post that clearly I didn’t express well is I think of them at these gestational age as babies because i have held them and cared for them.

@abbykm7 I really appreciate your response back. I know what a hard time you've been having and even having to be out of work because of HG. I can't imagine how you handle your line of work and we are grateful for medical professionals who care for us and our babies

Just had what was apparently my last biweekly ultrasound (and baby spent the whole time eating his own foot. Hehe.). I thought they went until 26 weeks, but it’s only 22. Thankfully I feel so much more confident after this one. The super competent director of the prematurity prevention program I’m part of came in and said everything looks great, and even though they still can’t see a nasal bone she doesn’t think I should worry about that at all, and it may even be there, just not visible by ultrasound. She also said it’s basically only a marker for Down’s, which he doesn’t have. She didn’t even think I’d need the 32 week growth scan, but I begged a little and she kept it in. Maybe I’ll have a standard boring pregnancy from now on.
