My confession: I'm a total Scrooge about Christmas gifts. I hate buying for and receiving from other adults. I love spending time with family over the holidays, and I love picking gifts for kids, I just don't get why my grown ass siblings and I have to buy each other presents? DH is totally on the same page with this, so we don't buy presents for each other - we agree on a substantial purchase for each other to make. This year, we bought ourselves smart watches. We do still exchange gifts with family, but we both think it's a silly tradition that contributes to waste. There are much better ways to use your money during the holiday season. I'm totally on board with families that forgo gifts and instead donate the money they would have spent to a charity.

Last pregnancy I couldn't wait to announce to people I was pregnant. This one I keep thinking "ahhh it's none of their business and I don't really want people to know."
@lakesideknitter - YES! We are doing no gifts for DH's side for the adults, instead we are going out to a nice dinner all together. Give me quality time over a candle every day. For my family, we got each other 1 small gift that's more silly than anything. I spent the money we usually spend on Christmas presents on 2 families that we sponsored.
My FFFC: I am irrationally annoyed that I came in to work this morning just to finish off a few things and see that a meeting is scheduled with me listed as a mandatory attendant. I think I may have to head home even earlier because my brain is already in vacation mode.
@lalala2004 Yes! So glad I'm not the only one who doesn't wash my hair every day. Some people think it's so gross but whatever!
AFM: I think it's way too early to start thinking about names so I haven't even looked at that thread yet. No judgement on anyone who's already thinking about names, I'm just not ready for it yet.
My IL’s are driving me insane this week. MIL was released from the hospital on Wed. She agreed then to allow H & me to host Christmas for her family. We’ve since deep cleaned our house and bought $150 worth of groceries to make everything the way she likes. Every time I’ve talked to her in the last 2 days, she has decided she’s “taking Christmas back” because I “don’t do things like she does.” By this, she means she’s mad that I told everyone not to show up until 1pm so that we can go to my family’s Christmas in the late morning.

All of this. I can't agree more. We celebrate with my SO's family, and we have 6 niece/nephews. Since the kids overwhelm everything, we finally stopped getting gifts for each other. We had been doing a secret santa but we finally dropped that even. It's so much more relaxing to just let the kids go crazy and get them fun things, and just enjoy time with family without the extra 'stuff' in my life. One year we did a charity secret santa. So, each person got a secret santa and donated to a charity that they thought that person would like. That was really fun, and then we had to guess who the person was.
@melprop Ugh, so sorry to hear that. That sounds very rude and inconsiderate of them. 'Taking Christmas back' who does that? Silver lining.. your house is spotless and won't get messy! But still I can't believe she did that!
@lalala2004 this is me all year lol. I dye my hair crazy colors (it's currently blue) so if I wash it too much the colors fade super fast. Today at work I'm wearing a baseball hat with a messy bun coming out the bottom, we can all probably guess I'm on day 7 of not washing my hair.
My FFFC is I get super excited for FFFC posts so I can secretly judge people. In my last BMB some of the biggest drama came from FFFC posts, I will never forget the girl who said she only brushed her teeth in the morning or the girl who said she was too lazy to walk downstairs to pee at night so she peed in a jug and dumped it in her yard. Oh the good old days of D14.
Although I dislike the cold, my favorite part of winter is being able to run errands with minimal effort to get ready. I generally change out of my PJ pants, but will go out sans bra and in my PJ shirt and just cover up with my jacket. My hair gets minimal washings and covered with hats. Laziest pregnant girl evah!
@westphilly I have a 7yo who is now on Christmas break. The house will not stay clean. At the moment he’s shooting Nerf darts at a target I taped to the front door.

@boymom4eva I think its takes so much more work to pee in a jug then to walk downstairs. The balance! I would pee everywhere. This is assuming your standard jug, not a widemouth. Or maybe she used a funnel?
Went to a gift exchange holiday party last weekend. Somehow I ended up with a gag gift that was an inside joke among many of the other party goers. I got a pineapple picnic blanket that I think is hideous. Apparently using a pineapple picnic blanket is supposed to signal you are a swinger?? No idea how true this is, or if this is a thing.
My FFFC: I'm re-gifting the blanket to my MIL for Xmas. She will love it. So be it if she gets extra attention while out with her new boyfriend.

@jaztastic that's hilarious, and I have never heard that before.
Also that pee jug thread made me think we should have a TMI Tuesday instead of Twatwaffle Tuesday. We have Twatwaffle-ish threads for every other day of the week, TMI would switch it up, lol.
I feel sorta bad for my kids due to their birth and expected birth dates. DS was born the last week of the school year and LO will likely be born around the start of the school year.
@SmashJam I would totally love a TMI thread. I love to cringe at other people's nastiness.
My confession? I had to take the day off work today to go wedding dress shopping with my future SIL. It ended early and I came home and was resting on the couch, and I literally just bolted upstairs when I heard my ILs return so I wouldn't have to deal with them. I'm pretending to be asleep. I can't wait for them to leave. My MIL drives me completely insane.
I've never held a baby. I don't really even like babies. I like older kids, so I'm willing to make the trade off, and I'm sure I'll love my own, but they are gross and boring. When other women stand around and coo over a new baby, I'm with the guys talking about anything else.

@derbysquirrel Agreed, babies are weird and kind of gross. A lady at church once threw her newborn baby into my arms when I went over to congratulate her. It was super awkward and I did not want to hold her baby!
I'm too lazy to go to the grocery store to pick up food for Christmas. Today is my last chance since I work all weekend. Enter Instacart. I just ordered all the things I need and I don't have to go anywhere. Now I have to stay awake until they get here.

As for me: I am averaging 1-2 hair washes a week since winter hit. If I work out, I shower without washing my hair. I just wait until it gets oily.
