  • My second OB appt is tomorrow. I don't think they did an US last time with DS at this appt, but I might ask for one just because. We still haven't told anyone we're pregnant, and I think I'd like one last confirmation that all is cool before we start telling the fam.

  • My 16 week appointment is on Friday and I'm oddly nervous.  It's been a long 3.5 weeks since my last appointment and since I've started feeling better, I'm just nervous.  I haven't felt movement yet, and I'm sure all this is in my head, but Friday can't come soon enough.
  • I go this afternoon. Hopefully everything is on track and going well in there.

  • @Austenista I had my second OB appointment last Friday and they tried to use the doppler to hear the HB but because my bladder was full and likely because my uterus is tipped back they couldn't get the HB. I was nervous at first but she just got the u/s out and used that so we got to see them squirming in there. I think they will at least let you hear the HB.

If we decide to go with it regardless of insurance I will have my NT on Friday morning. I was hoping to tell my manager today because I have been having more appointments and with my last one being just last Friday and at the end of the day, I don't want her to think I'm just ditching work and using an appointment as an excuse. But she is out of the office today.

  • I have a regular prenatal appt tomorrow evening. I'm hoping they will use the Doppler!
  • First prenatal appointment with my midwife tomorrow. All my appointments are in my home and I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am that I don’t have to get me and DS ready and out the door and across town for every prenatal appointment.

Then we have our elective ultrasound on Saturday to see if we have a boy or a girl brewing.
  • 2nd ob appt on Friday. I'm crossing my fingers that I get to see baby, but not expecting it.
  • had a regular OB appointment today. Dr was an hour late so I laid in the exam room waiting....but- heart beat is good and strong, and next appointment is 1/3 for AFP and another regular OB appointment. Was hoping to squeeze that one in before the end of the year because Jan 1 we are back to our $3k deductible, but they only had middle of the day appointments and I work too far to go there and come back, especially because they are almost ALWAYS late.
  • @bearnoons the best way to get in quickly at my OB office is to make an appointment an hour before they are set to go home. Everyone wants to go home and everything moves quickly.  :D

  • @izza2 I love that you were able to get the OB experience you should have had in the first place - it's so reassuring that they offered exactly what you wanted without you even having to ask  :)
  • regular "monthly" appointment Thursday. I'll be 14w 2d. If all is well I'll have another at 18w. My OB is considered a specialist so her policy is monthly, which I love. IDK what I could do if I only had one appointment during the each of the first trimesters.

  • Going in today at 3:30. I get so nervous before these appointments where you’re not feeling baby move yourself yet and so you worry you’re going to get some bad news. Trying to be positive and tell myself I will have good things to say about it here this evening.

  • @ffw0617 I go to just a regular OB and I have appointments every 4 weeks too. They alternate between the NP and the OB.

@stephcat421 I'm sure it's fine because baby is pretty snug in there right now but it's good to get checked for the peace of mind. GL! We are all going to have to be more careful this winter!

  • @krashke @ffw0617 yeah, I see my reg OB every time, and it's every month (except I'm on vacation for 16 weeks, so we're combining 16 and 20 and doing it at 18 weeks with the anatomy scan)
  • @krashke yep all checked out! I've got to get my winter legs back already ;)
  • NIPT and regular monthly check up tomorrow. FX

  • @glitterfingers I don't get queasy from blood at all, but I felt so weak after they took the seven vials at my first appt. So even without getting squeamish from the blood, it's definitely enough to knock you on your ass.
  • @TravelingCouple bless you that sounds so awful. So glad everything is okay. Hugs mama.

  • @TravelingCouple dang girl you've got me tearing up thinking about that. How traumatizing! I'm so happy everything worked out in the end and you got to see your precious little one. And what a wonderful staff to go through this with you!
  • @Austenista @stephcat421 thank you, it was awful. I'm decompressing with Friends and a canoli...
  • @TravelingCouple ~ oh my! That sounds awful! I’m so sorry. Glad everything turned out ok. You enjoy that cannoli!
  • @TravelingCouple that sounds awful! It kind of seems like it wasn’t handled well or they weren’t prepared. My OB also couldn’t find the HB with the doppler last week but after a few minutes of trying and I’m sure the bit of worry she could see on my and MH’s faces she just grabbed the portable ultrasound and we were able to have a peek at the baby.

They could have saved you a lot of stress, anxiety and emotions if they kept someone in the office that knows how to use an ultrasound machine when they have prenatal patients in. I’m sorry you had to go through that but I’m glad everything was ok!

  • @krashke @TravelingCouple yeah my ob always pulls out the portable us first to use for literally like 2 seconds so that when she does the Doppler dance none of us panic. I’m sorry you had to go through that but glad all is well @TravelingCouple :(
  • @TravelingCouple I'm so sorry that happened to you  :( It's literally the worst feeling.  It sounds identical to my last appt, the OB searched for what felt like an eternity with the doppler and couldn't find anything and sent me 30 mins away to the other office that had the portable ultrasound that the NP then didn't know how to use.  Eventually all was healthy.  Here's to hoping that at our next appointments the dopplers are able to pick up a heartbeat, and quickly!
  • @becca_123 ugh I'm sorry it happened to you too!
  • @travelingcouple omgosh! I'm so sorry all that happened! but glad everything is ok!
