Weekly Questions 12/11

Re: Weekly Questions 12/11

  • @catlady1215 same. absent history of issues the earliest my dr will see you is 6 weeks, but whenever you're first appointment is its just 4 weeks until the next appointment.

@katie121209 sorry to hear that, its another extra thing to worry about. I had a mass removed from my breast in 2011. It ended up not being benign but I know what its like to be constantly worry about an issue at such a young age. Make sure you have someone drive you home, I thought I'd be okay to drive but the local meds wore off otw home and the pain from the incision took over.

@catlady1215 Mine schedules every 4 weeks which just happens to fall on 8, 12 etc. But because of Christmas I'll be moreso 17 weeks at my next and it will still go every 4 weeks after that (besides anatomy scan) so I'll then be off track!

@katie121209 Thankfully you did catch it early - being that we can't really drink I'd also be doing the shopping thing.  Hope your surgery goes well!

Edited because also wrong tag  :(

  • @catlady1215 ~ I think it’s mostly just frequency (every 4 weeks, then every 2 weeks then every week) and the fact that most docs won’t see you until 8 weeks, so most people happen to fall on the 8,12, 16, 20 week etc schedule.

I am 14 weeks today and I just had my first official prenatal with my midwife (after switching providers). So my next appointment is at 18 weeks. Then 22, 26 So on and so forth.
  • Thanks for asking about traveling @becca_123 I was about to ask a similar question. My BIL is getting married in September so we'll probably bring the baby to the wedding but I'm glad to hear from others that traveling isn't too hard then. What does everyone think about around 6 months old? I just found out that my friends will be getting married next December in California (I live on the east coast) and I'm wondering (way too early of course) if it'd be better to take baby or leave them with grandparents.

@katie121209 glad you caught it early and wishing you a smooth recovery!

  • @katie121209 never news anyone wants to hear. But echoing everyone else that I'm glad they caught it early! Keep us posted.
  • @elsie42 We flew with DD across country at that age. She did great, way better than she would now at 3yo. The biggest tip is to try and get a non-stop flight. It’s may cost more but saves your sanity. I know I wasn’t ready to leave her overnight yet at 6m.

  • My question is for mom's having their third+ baby. Did you notice your colostrum and milk come in faster with your second baby?
Pregnancy Ticker Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • @harveyabbey77 Yes, colostrum and milk came in faster the second time around. I had only stopped nursing for about four months before DS was born. Dunno if maybe that had anything to do with it. One thing that may be significant as well is that I actually lost a cup and a band size with DD, but gained two cup sizes with DS. Second time around, they were ready to party.
  • @harveyabbey77 yep I had colostrum really early with my second. Maybe 2 or 3 trimester. I stopped breastfeeding in July and STILL have milk coming out so I’m sure it will just continue till this baby’s born.

  • @katie121209 I am sorry for the diagnosis but so glad you were taking care of your health and got it checked so that they caught it early!  I hope you have a quick recovery.  Shop away!
  • @katie121209 sorry to hear that, but like others have said, at least they caught it early & it’s treatable! Good vibes being sent your way!

@doxiemoxie212 with DD, early movement always felt like an eye twitch. Never had that gas feeling. With this one.. it just feels like a wave of swelling pressure from the inside, low in my pelvic (although it’s gotten quite a bit higher in the past 2 weeks.) like someone is pushing outward on my uterine wall from the inside.. which I guess, is literally what is happening :D never stays in one place. I always feel gas higher up, so I knew immediately when I felt this that it was baby!
  • Thank you @kfren and @fantasticmrsfox

Building off of my first question, (maybe this belongs in symptoms but not sure)...I've had sharp nipple pain in my left breast. I called my OB but they said it was normal as the breasts expand in pregnancy and not to be alarmed. Could this be colostrum coming in? I don't remember having this pain with DD and I'll be 15w tomorrow. Just seems super early!

  • @bkrahn ~ yes! That is the best way I can describe it this time! Like a rolling pressure. I’m 14+1 today and today is this first day where I am like “Oh yep. There it is. Unquestionably baby”.
  • I've been feeling that 'rolling pressure' but I've been telling myself that's the gas cause I really don't remember that from DS. But it was so long ago, I guess that could explain it. Maybe it is then!

  • @catlady1215 I remember feeling movement like this when I was further along with DD, but initially they felt like little twitches.. which is what I had been waiting for this time around. early with DD, I felt movement mayyybe once a day, if that? This time I feel baby SO often through out the day. I am surprised how different movement can feel/be from one pregnancy to the next.
  • @bkrahn yah, exactly the same! That's what I remember from DS, little twitches. I've been sitting around waiting for those also! And any other 'feelings' I've been writing off. Maybe this is the whole STM difference thing.

  • @catlady1215 and @bkrahn ~ Yes! Definetly different than the early twitches/could be confused with gas movements of last time.
  • @katie121209 I'm just getting caught up here after a busy week! I'm keeping you in my thoughts. I'm so glad you caught it early.
  • @elsie42 I think it would be better to take the baby, especially if you are BFing. If you are, and you leave the baby, you'll either need to have enough milk pumped in advance or figure out the logistics of bringing milk home on the plane.  We took DS to France at 9 months and he was so easy - - I wouldn't take him now at 2 years though.  If you can afford it, buy a seat and bring the carseat on the plane.  This saved us, because it was the only way he would have slept.
  • Question for any moms who've had an NT scan: Did your appointments include any of the "fun stuff" (heartbeat, ultrasound photo, finding out how baby's measuring against gestational age, etc.) or was it more or less all business? I imagine it varies by technician, but trying to set my expectations realistically!
  • @emiliadkay my NT was mostly a regular US visit, except they took three measurements of the neck. They measured heart rate, size and sent me with a bunch of photos and a video!
  • @emiliadkay My scan was just business. She did print off pics for me, but it was the first US on top of my belly (rather than TV) and the babies looked super weird.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @emiliadkay - Definitely depends on the tech. For mine, she checked the heartbeat first, measured baby, found my ovaries, measured my cervix, and then took a bunch of pictures of the baby, and I think a total of 4 or 5 measurements of the spine. I had part of it done abdominally, but she wanted to to a TV ultrasound as well to get a better picture.

If you want to hear the heartbeat, I'd say ask about it while the tech is doing the ultrasound. It's a quick check.

  • Couple things, is it possible that baby could be more on one side that the other? I'm only 15 weeks, but I swear I can feel something .... almost like the baby is sitting there?
I know it's too early to feel flutters {hoping for Christmas flutters since I'll be 16 weeks then! :) } but does anyone know what I mean OR experience it?
  • @MissKittyDanger I'm pretty sure they can move to one side of your ute. I haven't felt mine move, but when I go in for USs, sometimes they're on opposite sides of my uterus. Then, last time one was in front of the other in my uterus. So, they definitely have some mobility.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @MissKittyDanger yes they can move quite a bit in there! For several weeks when using the doppler I was finding baby in the left side, then one day all of a sudden was way over on the right!

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @MissKittyDanger I think they can move a lot but it's involuntary at this point. This morning at my NT scan BB was kind of head down to one side of my ute but then I went to the bathroom and it kind of fell back onto its back. Then the tech was having trouble seeing the back of the neck and wanted it to tilt it's head a little so she had me lay on my left side and it flipped all the way over to it's stomach.

I feel most of my twinges and cramps on my right side and that is also the side I ovulated from this cycle so I have no idea if that matters but its normal.

  • @MissKittyDanger it’s also that their feet will generally point toward one direction or another so often that’s the movement you’d start to feel, and it wouldn’t be all over at once.
  • @MissKittyDanger My baby is definitly on one side.  When I use the doppler, I've gotten good at finding it if I go signifcantly off center to the right.
  • @MissKittyDanger definitely possible. With DD, one side of my stomach usually felt harder than the other and that’s where we’d always find her. That is, until she grew a lot more and suddenly she was just everywhere lol
  • @MissKittyDanger DS stayed nestled into my left side pretty much the whole time. It was his favorite spot. I'd try to shove him more center and he'd shove me back, the little stinker.  :D

The sweetest thing is that he sleeps exactly like he did in the womb even now. On his tummy, hands up by his head, butt in the air. I used to rub that little butt at the top of my tummy all day every day. I love that he still prefers that position.

  • @Austenista that is so cute & definitely made me tear up lol! I can’t wait to experience moments like that with this little one! When I was pregnant with DD, I loved spending my morning in bed just feeling her squirm around inside there.. always felt like our “bonding time.” Mornings with her are still my favourite.
  • @katie121209 sorry about your results! Definitely will send up some prayers for you and your procedure! I'm glad they caught it early!

We are so excited to grow our family!

  • Guys what are you doing for allergy stuff? Have any of you talked to your doctors about it and gotten clearance for certain meds? I'm dyyyying here at my mom's in CA. I don't know if it's that I'm just not use to the pollen out here, or it's super dry, or what is going on but I need to take something, and my doctor won't respond to my email until Monday.
