@ahalix are you just controlling with diet? You may not have to be too strict (totally jealous of that, btw).
My numbers are still fluctuating. If I have the slightest bit more of carbs, my numbers spike, and my fasting numbers are still high every other day, even if I eat perfectly the day before. I went to the OB today and they raised my insulin another 2u (at 9 now). I'm hoping this helps.
VENTING: We went to a holiday party for kids and, like an idiot, I didn't bring a snack with me. The lunch table was filled with candy, soft pretzels, pizza, and sandwiches, and one tiny plate of cut up veggies. DH caught me staring at a plate of half eaten cookies left in front of me by a 5 year old, looking like I was about to cry yesterday. By the time I got home I was so tired, hangry, and frustrated I just ate a protein bar and went to sleep. Tonight we are going out to dinner with friends to a really high-end sushi restaurant (I said the choice was ok months ago, thinking I would be able to have rolls with cooked fish). Not only will I not be able to eat the amazing sushi, but I won't be able to have anything with rice either. There is a good chance DH will catch me staring at a plate of sushi with the same look I had yesterday when confronted with the half eaten cookies.
Yes, I'm just controlling with diet at this point. My doctor recommended I go see a dietician, but I don't see that they can tell me more than I already know.... I need to eat more. Not really worth the potentially hundreds of dollars the visit(s) would cost me. Sorry you're having troubles and have to take insulin I miss sushi so muchhhhhhhhhhh
My Dr. Told me I could have Christmas day off from checking my blood sugar, but now I'm dreading getting back at it. . . .and what I am supposed to do with all of these left overs just staring at me!
@hudson202 I wish they told me to take xmas off cuz I definitely had more carbs than I should have during lunch (everything else was fine). But I think that affected my fasting # today, too :-(
I've had high fasting all week, actually. Been going out almost every day meeting up w/ people or going to movies so what I'm eating is definitely worse than usual. Hoping when I go in today i can beg them for a few days to get it back down to normal if I eat like a normal person again.
Just had a religious experience in a supermarket in the middle of nowhere Pennsyltucky. 1st: regular old Haagen Dazs chocolate ice cream has = fat+protein to carbs. 2nd: they have frozen kodiak cake waffles that fit the bill. NO EGGS FOR BREAKFAST TOMORROW AND ICE CREAM FOR DESSERT!!!

They had choc and vanilla buttermilk. The vanilla buttermilk has slightly more carbs, but I put some peanut butter on top and my numbers were great!
I am so happy that my numbers didnt spike w/ the mashed potatoes I made tonight. I didn't have cake or anything sweet at all for my bday today, so kinda bummed about that. My mom's making me something when I see her in a couple days so I'll have to have a slice of that! Splurge day, mmhmm!

How was everyone's new years? My fasting numbers have been up, presumably from a jacked up eating schedule w/ lots of sweets. We're in the home stretch now and no more special events so hopefully will stabilize going forward.
^I am so thankful the holidays are over! I'm the same with elevated numbers just because of new foods being around and being off schedule. Im back to work tomorrow which should help tremendously
The only good thing about having no family locally was that I could plan all the holiday meals and make sure they were things I could eat so all my numbers were great over the holidays.
Thank you, @clc515! I'm getting there. They put me on a steroid inhaler and it seems to be helping.
My fasting numbers are on the rise, too. They are hovering between 93 and 98, but peaked this morning at 100. It still seems crazy to me, because my eating numbers have still been good! I have an appointment with the OB tomorrow, so I will bring it up then. This is so frustrating. I am afraid that I am setting this kid up for some serious food allergies with all of the eggs, cheese, and peanut butter I'm eating. Anyone have any insight into the correlation between what we eat and what babies are allergic to?

I've actually heard th opposite, that early exposure is better for keeping allergies at bay. At least that's the case when introducing new foods for babies to eat.
@babybro218 I’m glad your feeling better. I’ve heard that eating allergy type foods during pregnancy makes it less likely for baby to become allergic to those foods.
I hate when my numbers fluctuate. What really bothers me is when I eat something one week and my numbers are fine and then I’ll eat the same thing the following week and it will make my numbers high. So frustrating!
If you’re really worried about the early allergen exposure and want to research more, the early allergen exposure trial was called LEAP and was published in 2015. It really was revolutionary for the American approach to childhood allergies! I did early nut, fish, and seafood exposure with my sons (mixed peanut butter in with some of their purées even)
