IVF insurance coverage in Texas

Does anyone know if there is a insurance company that will allow you to take out a supplement Insurance policy with IVF coverage? I currently have insurance with my employer but it doesn’t cover IVF or any infertility treatment. Thank you
9 IUI's = BFN :( Thinking about IVF....

  • I just wanted to comment on the flex. I never had coverage for either of my treatments for my boys and I thought the second time around taking the max out of flex was a good idea until it was denied by my insurance company. They told me if it’s not a covered procedure/meds etc that I could not use my flex. I fought and fought this with the insurance company and they wouldn’t budge. I was left losing money I could of used for treatments. So definitely ask before you take a large amount of flex.

  • following...i'm also in texas and my insurance is through my husband. We have 6 iuis covered, but nothing for ivf and it looks like that's where we are headed. I'm even thinking of finding a part time job at starbucks to use their ivf coverage. FYI, i'm not sure where you live, but in the DFW area, there's a lot of great fertility clinics who offer discount programs that give you 70-100% of your money back if you don't take home a baby at the end. It's not the same as insurance coverage, but it gives you a piece of mind and funding if all fails and you need to try again. One is called shared dreams and the other is attain fertility. Good luck

  • Hey there dear. I am currently living in Germany. However I am originally from US and have spent majority of my life there. I am not from Texas though. I was born and raised in Cali...

I think I might help out just a little. Most of the insurance companies cover IVF. However you have to include fertility treatments on your plan when you first start your contract. These things will make the price higher.

Insurance can be a really bit*h at times though... They usually pay for treatments that are very iffy for you, just because they are cheaper. They will also not accept you to sign a contract after your diagnosis. I am sorry to say but based on what I have experienced your chances are slim.

Have you thought of a bank loan? That might work... Wish you luck!
  • I was going to say once I was labeled infertile there was zero coverage for testing or anything.
