Due Date Check-in - First week of June (w/o Nov 30)

So how about this week we keep it casual. Tell us how your week is, what you're looking forward to, dreading, ranting about, etc.... but MOST OF ALL tell us how excited you are to be entering SECOND TRIMESTER!!!  :D:pB)

Re: Due Date Check-in - First week of June (w/o Nov 30)

  • I just want the nausea to stop and to start feeling better.  Has anyone started feeling better these days?  Getting my NIPT results was reassuring, especially since I already told my grandmother!

Work doesn't know yet (well, most people don't know, including the partners) and I'd like to keep it quiet until after my review at the end of December.  I was able to hide it until 20 weeks with DS, but I don't know if I'm going to make it that far this time around!

  • @catlady1215 did you find out where your placenta is located currently during your NT scan?
  • @marcus7676 hope you start feeling better soon.  I started to feel the nausea decline last week (week 11) and am still mostly not nauseous.  If I go too long without eating it comes back, but without the all day nausea I am actually hungry again.

I told work this week.  I'm starting to feel like I look pregnant, so I wanted to get ahead of the rumors.  I am waiting on my NIPT results to come back before announcing to family/ social media.  I had my blood pulled on Wednesday, but with the holiday last week I'm assuming my 10 business days started Monday... ahhh I hate waiting.  Our NT scan looked good, but I'm still a little worried to put it out there.

We are going to take DD to see Santa this weekend, and I want to take some more pictures of her all Christmas cute so I can order our Christmas cards.

  • SOOOOO PUMPED for the second triiii!!!!!!!!! Finally over whatever stomach bug I had and looking forward to just feeling better! So excited to be here with all of you!

@doxiemoxie212 I can’t wait to hear about your smoke bomb pics!!
  • Excited to finally be in week 15 today. No more symptoms other than the bloat.  Thankful I have a doppler, because this pg reminds me so much of my first one (DD1) where I legit had no symptoms the entire time and was having trouble believing I was pg at all. I am not enjoying that my thighs now rub together (part of the bloat fun) and have been cutting all my yoga pants into biker shorts so I can wear them under my dresses, because it's driving me nuts the rubbing. And I by no means have skinny thighs pre pregnancy, but it feels like they puffed up just in the center of my body, lol.

@jsl82, glad to here your nausea is under control!! That's a huge relief I know!

@doxiemoxie212 Movement is the best part! I can't wait for it either!! What are smoke bomb photos?

@catlady1215 It will come back for you (the food eating desire!) and that's great about the non processes stuff. I'm still just craving salads with ranch dressing (I make it from scratch, mayo and all) with cheese and sliced chicken on it.

@marcus7676 I started feeling better overall around week 13 and now it seems like the nausea is totally gone for me.  But I'm still quite exhausted all the time.

  • I’m in the middle of that “Am I 1st tri or 2nd tri?” week right now. Different sources are so ambiguous on 13w vs 14w. I suppose on Sunday at 14 weeks I will tell myself that I’m officially in the second trimester... such a relief!!
My symptoms are mostly mild right now, biggest complaint is some painful gas/bloating.
DD and I are putting up our Christmas tree today. It should be interesting- last year I did it after she was in bed but figured she’s getting old enough to try to “help”.
I think it randomly dawned on both DH and I last night that we will need to think of another name for this kid! It was honestly one of the hardest things to agree on last time. DH is one of those never give you constructive input besides no, no, no... if you’re just going to shoot down all of my ideas then you better come up with some of your own this time buddy!!

  • @catlady1215 same over here with feeling movement. I started to feel DD at 16 weeks, and this week (almost 14) I’ve had several instances while laying down of “pretty sure that wasn’t gas..” but not enough to say 100%. I will say that when using my doppler I’ve heard a couple good kicks and had the slightest sensation of feeling it as well.

  • @doxiemoxie212 I always forgot to ask while in a scan. Only remembered afterwards. I mean she pointed it out but that means nothing to me unless she spells it out lol.

@dashaina I actually miss my salads the most  :s I loooved my spinach salads for lunch every day. But dressing was giving me some weird after tastes... that I couldn't describe. Tart-ish? I just this wk started using alittle ranch on raw broccoli. But only a smidge. Wonder if making it myself would work.. not that I have any clue how to do that lol.

@lisa2589 that's exactly what i feel. Like I remember at first it was this slightest flutter feeling. And I felt a few... but I don't remember if I felt them before pregnancy lolol. So I won't 'call it' yet, till I'm 100%.
And I'm not looking forward to the name discussion with DH either. We started looking on thanksgiving... with no success. But it reminded me of DS, we hardly agreed. He didn't even have a name till the night before we left the hospital.

    @silvergreen lol the gif.

  • @catlady1215 yeah, because if your placenta is anterior, you'll feel movement less/later even as a STM right?
  • Soooo relieved & excited for second tri!!! Can’t believe we are here!!

Ive had a lingering cough for the past few weeks and it always leaves me dry heaving or running to the bathroom to throw up. Other than that, no major symptoms apart from heartburn and sore boobs. I’ve been feeling lots of stretching happening this week again too! cannot wait to start feeling flutters! Felt them around 16/17 weeks with DD.

we scheduled our gender reveal ultrasound for dec 22!! Can’t believe that’s only 3 weeks away.. with DD we only found out around 24 weeks so I’m SO excited to find out earlier this time!! I’m thinking we will do some sort of cute Christmas announcement/reveal with our families!
  • I had my 13 week appointment this morning. OB told me that she cannot just diagnose me with gestational diabetes because this early in the pregnancy it would have to be a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. So I have to go take my 3 hour glucose test next Saturday.

If I pass the 3 hour glucose test next Saturday I still have to take the 1 hour test again at 28 weeks. If I fail that one I will be diagnosed with gestational diabetes.

If I fail the 3 hour glucose test next Saturday I will be diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic. I knew my paternal grandfather had type 2 diabetes, but I just found out today that my (estranged) father and my uncle both have it as well. So it must be genetic because I have no other risk factors. Oh, and I'll likely be induced at 39 weeks (May 31).

I've been dealing with nausea and exhaustion for the past month or so. I got a sample of Diclegis and have been taking that and those symptoms have been much more manageable. I'm not sure if it's the pills or just the first trimester coming to an end. But I have a work trip next week so I asked my OB for another sample of Diclegis. She said they were out of samples but wrote me a prescription, warning me that it can be expensive. $350 for 20 pills! So I'm going to ration the ten remaining pills from my sample and use them next week while I'm traveling. Then hopefully I can come off of them and be okay.

@catlady1215 homemade ranch is super super easy.
1/2 cup mayonnaise (I make homemade mayonnaise)
    1/4 cup milk
    1 teaspoon white vinegar
    1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon pepper (I love pepper!)
1/4-1/2 teaspoon salt (depends on salty level of the mayo)
1 teaspoon dried dill or 1 TBD fresh chopped dill

    Optional stuff
1-2 cloves minced garlic or 1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 Tbs minced onion or 1/4 tsp onion powder

If you want it thinner add a little more milk. I like mine thick.. So I start with 1/8 cup and work from there.

  • @dashaina thanks! I might have to try it. do what I gotta do at this point lol. definitely no garlic though. I normally loooove garlic. but this baby dooes not!

@doxiemoxie212 I'm assuming that's true. even as a STM mom you wouldn't feel it early in that case.

  • @bkrahn that's super exciting to find out so soon! In Panama the entire month of December is like one holiday after another... So I'm not even trying to go into the hospital for an u/s until the 4th of January which I think is around week 20.

@MLS6212 I was scheduled for a c-section with DD1 at 39wks +1 in the morning and my water broke the morning before. Ha! We ended up leaving at the same time we would have left anyway, just the day before.

@silvergreen hooray for paddling baby and a good NT scan!

  • @Dashaina DS was due March 23. I was told by my OB that we would induce if I was still pregnant on the 31st. He came on March 18, also 39w1d. I'm not looking forward to the idea of getting induced, but if it's to prevent me from having an extremely large baby, I'm for it.

  • Don't mind me if I start jumping in now!  I know I haven't said much but I've been reading everyday, promise!

I'm starting to feel better about this pregnancy - every doctor's visit has basically been an "everything is fine BUT... xyz" and it kept getting me down. (It started with me panicking about having no symptoms, then I had a small SCH, then not being able to find heartbeat and being sent for US, then prenatal blood work showed I am a carrier for SMA, DH got tested and is a limited carrier, which we don't know what that means and are waiting for the genetic counselling office to call us and schedule an appointment).  Everything otherwise is healthy!

Thursday was the start of my 13th week and I was super happy to be starting 2nd trimester until I realized that I wasn't quite there yet, which was a bummer.  Other than that I got my NIPT blood draw through ClariTest last Monday and should be expecting results later this week.  Finger's crossed it's not a "everything looks fine BUT...." moment.
  • @becca_123 glad you jumped in! Sounds like you've had some scary moments thus far, sorry to hear that! Good luck with the genetic counselor, I'm hoping everything turns out perfect for you!
  • @becca_123 sorry you have had such a tough time with this pregnancy.  I am a carrier for SMA too.  I found out with our 1st pregnancy and in a different state with a different doctor this time, so when she called to tell me the results, I turned around and said that MH had been tested and was not a carrier.  We have a 4/100 chance of SMA with my carrier status.  My doctor said that she has had a few patients over the years come back as carriers and hasn't delivered a SMA baby yet.  The risk is pretty low, but hopefully your appointment with the genetic counselor will make you feel better about your risk level.

  • @stephcat421 thank you for your kind words!

@jsl82 The low risk is what's keeping my nerves down.  The odds are favorable, just I'm clueless what a limited carrier is.  I'm glad that your DH isn't a carrier and that your doctor has never delivered an SMA baby!
  • @becca_123 my assumption based on my limited SMA knowledge is that limited carrier would mean that your DH has 2 copies of the gene (whereas you and I only have 1).  MH only has 2 copies though and we were told that he is not a carrier.  Let me/ us know what the GC defines as "limited carrier".  I'm curious myself.

  • @becca_123 great news! So glad to hear they were able to provide clarification :)
  • @becca_123 yay!! That is great news!  So glad the GC was able to calm down your fears- and agreed that it is irk-some to stress you out over a non-issue by calling it "limited carrier".
