Any Older Moms (or Others) Waiting for NIPT Results?

Hi All --

I'm 10w 1d today and just took the Counsyl prenatal test this morning. I'm on pins and needles awaiting the results. I went through this a couple years ago w/DS#2 when I was 38 (everything turned out fine). Now I'm 40 and going through it again and I just don't know how I'm going to get through the week (or more) waiting for the results. Anyone else in wait mode?

Hi @kalyth76, welcome! Join us in the weekly questions thread. We've talked fairly extensively about NIPT testing in the last couple weeks. (I'm under 35, but I am waiting for my Mat21 NIPT results 2.0 because my first blood draw revealed not enough fetal DNA.)

How far along were you when you had the blood drawn for your NIPT that came back inconclusive? I am currently (anxiously) waiting my NIPT. I had my blood drawn 10w6d.

I'm almost 40 this time and I'm not really worried about the mat 21 test.

I'm over here waiting on my results too.  They did the blood draw at 10 wk. 1 day....so that was last Tuesday. They told me it would take 2 weeks to get the results back, but I'm just dying of the anticipation right now!  I am 37 right now - will be 38 in 2 weeks. They didn't have this type of testing with my older kids so I haven't been through it before.  We just had the NT scan which came back with some flags on it for my son. Turned out to be fine, but I'm anxious this time since it took us almost 2 years to get pregnant and I'm older this round.

It didn't exist when my first was born either, its crazy the way things change.  Statistically your most likely to have no problems.

Hi All --

Just an update here...I got my results on Monday (a day earlier than I expected, especially with Thanksgiving thrown in) and all was clear!! And we found out its a girl. As I mentioned in my earlier note, I was really nervous because of my age. But, I did try to focus on the fact that (even though risk is higher for issues as we are a bit older), 98.5% of the time, our babies will be fine. Definitely sending positive vibes everyone's way. Its just getting through that wait that's so hard, I totally understand!

@kalyth76 Congrats on the great news! We got the exact same news as you yesterday.  All the trisomy markers were negative and we're having a baby girl!

29yo. FTM. Had Claritest at 12w 3d, now at 13w 4d. Still no results. Had the test done because high risk for downs syndrome (1:48) on finger stick blood test due to very low PAPP-a. NT scan was normal. This has been the longest week of my life. Sending up happy thoughts for all in this thread.

@klig88 sending positive vibes. My good friend just told me she took the NIPT but they gave her results for the protein test which they were NOT supposed to do. The protein test came back positive for potential issues but the NIPT was negative and her baby is perfect and just turned one.

Im 40, and just got over a miscarriage when i found out i was pregnant again. Its leaves you a nervous wreck while your waiting for the results.At 10 wks 6 days I did a NIPT on a Thursday and the following Thursday I got my results and EVERYTHING is ok. Now I'm waiting to get the NT scan test down next week when I will be 12 weeks. It seems as though blood showed be more accurate than an ultrasound but at 40 they test everything just to be on the safe side.Pray each day God gives you a healthy baby and pray that all your results come back negative. Try to occupy your time and in time your new bundle of joy will be here..
