I started having some weird cramping/left sided pelvic pain on Tuesday, on Wednesday and Thursday it was more of slight cramping/dull ache. On Friday, the cramping continued and I started spotting in the afternoon at work. I went to the lab and had another beta drawn and it was only 423 (77 to 423 in one week). Yesterday morning I had a lot of bright red blood, which has continued through the weekend. I will go for another beta tomorrow morning and if it is less than 200 I do not have to test again. And we are supposed to wait a cycle to try again.

So I finally had another beta drawn today and it actually increased since Friday from 423.3 to 476.2. I am not really sure why it increased, especially since I have been bleeding since this weekend.....ugh....so now I have to go for an ultrasound on Friday and then an appointment with OB. Anyone experience anything like this?

Unfortunately they really have no idea and that is why I have to get the ultrasound. I am just really hoping that it is not ectopic. I also really hope that I don’t need a d&c. This whole situation is so stressful and confusing.

MelissaMay82  Unfortunately those are still pretty low numbers and nowhere near doubling. Hoping it's not ectopic. I've had a D&C though, and it wasn't that bad.

@melissamay82 My first pregnancy was like that and it was ectopic. I had to have two shots of methotrexate and then I my numbers went down quickly. That may not be what is happening with you, but I just wanted to share. My numbers were pretty low for being six weeks, around 400, that went down or up a little bit every draw. My OB said there was remaining pregnancy tissue likely in a tube because they couldn't see anything in the uterus. My OB recommended the shots over anything else because my numbers were so low. For what it's worth, the shots were probably the best option and I had no issues/problems with them and passed the remaining tissue within a couple of days. However, if you are interested in donating cord blood in the future, you cannot if you have had methotrexate. You can bank for yourself, but you cannot donate.

I went in for an U/S yesterday, no sac seen and uterus and ovaries looked normal. I have continued to bleed quite a bit and pass what looks like clots and tissue. My OB was still concerned for an EP so I had another beta drawn after my appointment with her and it dropped down to 308. So I will have another beta on Monday and hopefully it will keep dropping. If it has not decreased or has increased I will most likely be admitted to the maternity floor for methotrexate (fingers crossed that does not happen!).

@MelissaMay82 I’m so sorry you are back and goin through this. I’m hoping for you, your numbers drop and there is no need for further intervention.

Great to hear that it's going down on its own and you hopefully won't need any meds.
