Re: FTM Check-In (11/15)
How are things going? Really good! I've now known for 2 weeks! Anxiety seems to be letting up for now. I still have almost no symptoms. If I didn't have a positive test I wouldn't no any different. Trying to appreciate that for now and not let myself get too worried by it.
Appointments upcoming/recent? Still two weeks from tomorrow!
Questions for other FTMs, or STM+? When did symptoms (MS) kick-in? Also, what happens at your first appointment?
GTKY: What's your biggest concern for once you bring baby home? I haven't even thought this far ahead yet.. but if I think about it right now, I think my concern is how I will train the dogs to stay away from baby (no licking or jumping).

How are things going? Definitely progressing, I've been super nauseous all day every day for a week ( @MrsMiller8588 for me it started at 5w 5d but from what I understand it usually starts around week 6). Crazy tired, boobs hurt- overall pretty miserable and having food aversions to seemingly everything
Appointments upcoming/recent? tomorrow morning! nervous
Questions for other FTMs, or STM+? I am sure I should have a ton but cant think of anything pressing right now
GTKY: What's your biggest concern for once you bring baby home? Just ONE thing? I am a total planner and general ball of anxiety so already freaking out about figuring out which playgroups are best near me, the nanny vs daycare conundrum (each one will like an additional rent in NYC or at least 50% of one), already thinking ahead to getting into preschools if we dont move to the suburbs...just typical crazy person stuff (and I feel like maybe just manhattan problems...anyone with me?)
How far along are you? 4wk+6
How are things going? Good, I am still peeing on sticks to convince myself this is real.
Appointments upcoming/recent? Saw my GP on Monday - @MrsMiller8588 it was super quick and she basically was like "yeah sounds like you're pregnant" and then gave me a bunch of paperwork to take to the lab and told me "see you in 12 weeks"....You might have a different experience if you are seeing an OB right away? I'm not even sure if they will call me about my blood work or not... in hindsight, I asked no questions and was quite 'out of it' for the entire appointment... oh well.
Questions for other FTMs, or STM+? not yet.
GTKY: What's your biggest concern for once you bring baby home? I am not even thinking about that!!
@devilcat139 Thanks! My sister said hers started at 7 weeks. I just kinda feel like I should be feeling something by now, but guess not. Thanksgiving is my 7 week mark so maybe I will survive the holiday!

How are things going? Great! Very excited.. Have some minor symptoms- sore boobs, moodiness, tiredness.
Appointments upcoming/recent? I have my first appointment on the 21st!! I'm so ready.
Questions for other FTMs, or STM+? Not right this minute!
GTKY: What's your biggest concern for once you bring baby home? Just making sure I have everything I need!!

How are things going?
I've been feeling really dizzy, completely exhausted, and ridiculously moody/emotional. DH has been really supportive, giving me space when I need, and picking up all of the ginger when my nausea was uncontrollable.
Appointments upcoming/recent?
My first appt is 3 weeks from today, and I cannot wait!!
Questions for other FTMs, or STM+?
What made it finally feel "real"?
Did you just constantly worry, or am I just crazy?
GTKY: What's your biggest concern for once you bring baby home?
I haven't thought that far ahead yet. I'm still just concerned with getting through the 1st trimester.
Thanks for starting this @MrsMiller8588!
*TW* Will be a first time mom, but it’s not my first pregnancy. Last time I didn’t really experience morning sickness (she lasted till 11w5d), but I a little wonder if I would have had things been going better. *End TW*
At my first appointment last year (at 8w2d), confirmed the pregnancy via vagina ultrasound and got to hear the heartbeat. They will measure the baby to see if s/he’s on track and determine whether the heartbeat is within the normal range for his/her age. At 10 weeks I was able to go in to have a bunch of blood drawn (also for NIPT because I was over 35).
@devilcat139 Yay for your first appointment tomorrow! How exciting. I am also a bit of a planner, but PGAL brain is keeping me in check. I feel like the crazy person stuff sounds similar to that on the Westside of LA. We bought a house in a city (that’s surrounded by LA) that has its own well-rated school district (in case we can’t swing the annual college tuition-like cost of private school), but the elementary school for where we live isn’t the best one and I’m already planning to pick my next door neighbor’s brain about how she got her kids into the other elementary). I went to private until 4th grade myself, but it was a different time. My friends have a 5 and a 3 year old and they were telling me about all the required admissions application essays and interviews... Not there yet.
How far along are you? 4+4
How are things going? So far, so good. Battling PGAL brain a bit, but feeling optimistic. Otherwise, I feel no symptoms - I guess I should enjoy before the stupid tired sets in.
Appointments upcoming/recent? First ultrasound appointment is next Tuesday 11/21. We won’t see much so early, but I’ve been advised that it’s mostly to see if things are in the right place. This is because this pregnancy resulted from and IVF FET. With my last natural pregnancy, I didn’t even have an OB (just a gyn) when I got pregnant, so didn’t meet the OB until first appointment at 8w2d. I’m not sure when I will “graduate” from my RE, but I have an annual exam appointment with my OB a day before 10 weeks anyway.
@canuklehead123 I’m still peeing on sticks too!
Questions for other FTMs, or STM+? Not yet
GTKY: What's your biggest concern for once you bring baby home? I’m not quite there yet either. Trying to take things a day at a time.

How are things going?
Feels surreal but great so far/ I am also in the boat where it feels almost too good. If it weren’t for the frequent peeing and being tired I wouldn’t believe I was pregnant.
Appointments upcoming/recent?
My first on Monday- wondering if it will be a trans US or a regular one. And really hoping to see baby’s heartbeat.
Questions for other FTMs, or STM+?
None- right now. But @devilcat139 I think I’ve told you before I’m also in NYC and I work in Chelsea so I’ve also been looking up daycare options here. It’s insane- I’m really not sure what we will do at this point. If you find any good reserources or good recommendations please PM me!
GTKY: What's your biggest concern for once you bring baby home?
concern... hum... right now it’s getting an A/C for my living room. We currently only have one in our master bedroom. But with baby we will need one in the living room and baby’s room.
@devilcat139 Good luck with your appointment tomorrow!
@artemis618 I hope you see everything you need to see next Tuesday. This pregnant was through IUI for me, and I just had my first scan today. It's true, you really aren't going to see much (it really just looks like a big blob with a tiny blob inside ha ha), but just seeing that everything is where it should be definitely helps calm some of the nerves. Good luck!

How are things going? Feeling pretty good! I am starting to feel a little more optimistic about things.
Appointments upcoming/recent? Met with the RE this morning for bloodwork and first ultrasound. Saw the gestational sac and yolk sac, and now I go back next Wednesday to hopefully see a heartbeat
Questions for other FTMs, or STM+? Not that I can think of yet.
GTKY: What's your biggest concern for once you bring baby home? I haven't gotten that far yet either, but general answer would probably be everything. Anxiety for the win...

Today I am 6 weeks and 3 days
How are things going?
Honestly I am not feeling any symptoms in the last two days which is weird? I felt a bit tired last week and my nipples were tiggling but nothing really now.
Appointments upcoming/recent?
I had a follow up today at the Drs after my blood test, which I took on Thursday 9th November, when I was around 5 weeks pregnant - it said I have HCG of 1010 and confirmed the pregnancy. I've read online that that means under 5 weeks pregnancy at that point. I also have my ultrasound booked for december 12th
Questions for other FTMs, or STM+?
Is anyone not having symptoms like me haha.
GTKY: What's your biggest concern for once you bring baby home?
We need to buy a house as we live in a 1 bed 1 bath condo right now!
@catftm2018 glad to have someone to commiserate with over how absurd manhattan is. I know I’m getting way ahead of myself but like I said it’s in my nature to plan years in advance and man I get an anxiety attack every time I think about it. We just moved to a bigger place with central air (non negotiable from my husband) so we are lucky but I sympathize trying to figure out the AC situation for a July baby! Hopefully you can find a good window unit at Home Depot or something.
How far along are you? 6 weeks
How are things going? So far ok. A lot of cramping but a lot of excitement from my husband.
Appointments upcoming/recent? Waiting to hear back from doctor on my first appointment.
Questions for other FTMs, or STM+? Do you ever feel not scared? I feel like everyday at some moment I get scared.
GTKY: What's your biggest concern for once you bring baby home? That we will have everything organized. We just moved into our house. I know its hectic now and we have like 8 months but I am worried we wont be completely set. Its our first house.

How are things going?
So far so good.
Appointments upcoming/recent?
2 weeks from this Tuesday is my first appointment with a prenatal coordinator.
Questions for other FTMs, or STM+?
What are you doing for a nursery? We have a 1 bedroom loft apartment currently, and our lease ends in October. So I am thinking about converting part of our closet in to a "nursery" so then the baby would have a closed space for sleeping.
GTKY: What's your biggest concern for once you bring baby home?
People wanting to be over all the time! I have a hard time saying no, but I know we are going to want to have new family time with the baby.

GTKY: What's your biggest concern for once you bring baby home?
My biggest concern so far is having to go back to work, I want to spend as much time as possible at home with the baby but am worried about not having maternity leave. I can take off through FMLA but am not sure how much I will be able to take.

Appointments upcoming/recent? I had a quick urine confirmation earlier this week with my Family Practice doctor because my OB-GYN hasn't communicated to me since I told him I got a BFP! I know I haven't heard from his office because I am a low-risk FTM, but I am a super planner, and I MUST SCHEDULE OB APPOINTMENTS. This is why I need yoga. Calm.
Questions for other FTMs, or STM+? Not now.
GTKY: What's your biggest concern for once you bring baby home? People bringing food. We're a military family, and since we often have babies away from our families, other military spouses are usually really good at organizing meal trains for new parents. My concern is that people are going to bring us food that I wouldn't eat. I got us off of processed food, added sugars, vegetable oil, and such. I'm terrified that we'll be given convenient meals that I would never cook, and that those processed meals will make us sick. I might start making my own freezer meals, or subscribe to Blue Apron again?

We did several rounds of IVF with PGS testing after that *TW* loss, so we know the gender (unless the PGS was wrong). DH still doesn’t want to know but I’ve caught myself using the pronoun “she” from time to time so he’s unfortunately probably caught on.

GTKY: What's your biggest concern for once you bring baby home?
Just general fear that there will be times that I have no idea what I'm doing. I actually have a lot of experience with kids and babies because I lived with my sister and helped raise my 3 nieces so I basically lives all those stages right along side her. But I know there will be moments that I'm completely over my head.

How do you deal with the GAS?? It is hurting so bad every morning! (I mean, I know chili for breakfast is a bad idea, but beyond that, lol!)
GTKY: What's your biggest concern for once you bring baby home?
We live in an old studio apartment above the grandparent in law’s garage on shared property with husband’s parents and grandparents. We have the house in the winter when grandma travels, but this summer we will be stuck in the old studio, with old carpet, bats in the walls, and poor ventilation. We are SO broke, so moving isn’t out of the question. Going to try to save up for new cheap carpeting, but the walls are unfinished wood panel and collect dust so fast. I am a control freak. We moved from our three bedroom house with wood floors and decent wages to care for grandpa who has since passed. There will be no nursery to decorate... I’m mostly just worried about baby’s health in that crap-hole house! Also, might be offered a full time teaching job, but worried that I will only have 4wks to recover before going to work. That’s not enough time, but we could have health insurance... so there’s a bit of anxiety... I feel very out of control and hate it!
