Dental Work

hello all!
I found out that I need to have a crown repaired because the roots of my tooth are exposed and it's causing a lot of pain! Just wondering if anyone has had dental work done in a previous pregnancy Or if anyone has any recommendations on what I should and should not do for dental work while pregnant. I'm about 5 weeks along ...
thanks!

Re: Dental Work

  • I had a crown done when I was pregnant with my last baby. You just tell them that you are pregnant and they will work with you.

  • I had two crowns scheduled to be replaced the week I found out I was pregnant with my first son and they wouldn’t do it! He wouldn’t even give me a cleaning lol

That's odd. It's actually recommended that pregnant women get a cleaning/checkup as part of prenatal care.

You can and should proceed with getting your crown replaced, you can't be in pain for the next 8 months. That wouldn't be good for your baby!
  • again a great question for the weekly questions thread. However since this post is already here... I had to have dental work done in my pregnancy with my dd and they did filig and cleaning in second trimester some of the numbing agents they said were not totally safe during first tri or third tri

  • I went for my cleaning when I first found out and told them.  I needed to schedule a crown to be done and they told me no worries.  They have a different kind of Novocaine that they use.
  • The dentist will know what to do with a pregnant person.
  • I was told to wait till after first tri. I had something scheduled last week but they wouldn’t do any work because of that. They said to check with OB and sometimes they give a list of stuff they can’t use.
