I worked out for the first time in a year and a half today so I am proudly joining this thread!!!

    How far along are you?
    11+6

What type of activity/activities have you been doing?
I swam for a half hour today... 1300 yards.  I'm gonna try to keep up with it every other day.

How are you feeling about your activity? Any recent successes you want to share? Any challenges coming up?
Just getting back in the water again feels like a huge success.  It felt so good to get my body moving and get my heart rate up.  The challenge will be sticking with it but as of now I'm feeling really motivated.

    Questions, raves, rants, concerns?
Just finding the time to get to the gym.  My husband goes to the gym on the mornings that I work from home so that I can stay with the baby.  I doubt I'll want to get up early enough to swim before work so that means I might have to start going at night.  That's just so risky because I know I'll lose motivation as the day goes on.

GTKY- Would you rather workout solo or with a friend/partner?
If I'm swimming, it's nice to have someone with me.  The majority of the time is spent on your own, staring at the bottom of the pool, but it's nice to have someone to talk to when you're at the wall.  And having someone else there keeps me honest about doing the full workout.

    Kickboxing class

    None for now.

    Questions, raves, rants, concerns?
I'm getting a little frustrated with my heart rate. My OB said to just keep doing what I was doing before pregnancy, but it seems my heart rate goes up high faster now. I have always tried to keep it below a certain level for maximum fat burning and such. Even the trainer last night was trying to figure it out. And you can tell she's young and hasn't had a kid because she asked if the baby was already up by my ribs and their heartbeat was registering instead.

GTKY- Would you rather workout solo or with a friend/partner?
Solo!  My best friend signed up for a couple of months and did a couple workouts with me, but I'd rather go alone. I don't want to talk, I just want to sweat!
I do think if DH could go with me, it'd be fun because we'd try and compete and push each other.

  • @fraufarbissina Jealous! I wish I had regular access to a pool. That sounds great.

@suchaglencoco Do you wear a heart rate monitor during the day? Your resting heart rate is probably way higher at this point so it doesn't take much to raise it when exercising. Before I was pregnant my average was around 65, and now it's up to 80, at least according to my FitBit.

What type of activity/activities have you been doing?
Ugh I've been SO bad. Just basic city walking. It's way more than people who have cars probably do on a daily basis, but it's not intentional exercise.

How are you feeling about your activity? Any recent successes you want to share? Any challenges coming up?
I'm so mad at myself for not getting the energy up to actually exercise, now that I'm less worried about issues. We even have a "gym" in the future nursery! (Just a stair stepper, rowing machine, yoga mat, and some light weights...but like, it's connected to my bedroom by a door. How lazy can I be?) I'm going to force myself to use it tonight when I get home. I need a tv show that I can get really into then only let myself watch it when I'm in there or something. I might get back into doing squats and wall push-ups whenever I walk into the back hallway at work too. I used to do that before I was pregnant.

GTKY- Would you rather workout solo or with a friend/partner?
I'd definitely rather work out with my wife. She's extra busy with work right now, but I'll try to drag her in with me as much as possible. We had been running together before too and I started to like it, but I don't want to run while pregnant since I hadn't been doing it for very long and I don't think my body was used to it yet.

  • @abhphilly, that's a good point!  I wear a Fitbit and basically only use it for a watch and stopwatch now. I should download my data and see what it says.

We have a treadmill is our home because "buying one will make us want to use it more!" It's basically been used 1% of the time we'v owned it. And that's a generous number.
That's part of why I said I needed to sign up for a gym. I don't want to waste money on a membership and not go.
  • @fraufarbissina Way to “dive in”! Lol, sorry, I couldn’t resist! Seriously, it’s so hard to take the first step but you never regret it :)

What type of activity/activities have you been doing? Lifting, HIIT, dance fitness

How are you feeling about your activity? Any recent successes you want to share? Any challenges coming up?
I have worked out every day this week!

Questions, raves, rants, concerns? My stupid sciatica is flaring up today so I’m desperately trying to stretch it out so I can get leg day done and go to my HIIT class. I may have to pick one or the other.

GTKY- Would you rather workout solo or with a friend/partner? I like having a partner! My BFF was working out with me for the last year but since becoming PTA president this year she hasn’t been able to come much at all.

  • @MissusTexas no need to apologize.. I love a good swim pun :)

I was feeling so great when I got home from the gym this morning..  I thought I was gonna have enough energy to put laundry away and vacuum today but in reality all I wanna do is eat and nap.

What type of activity/activities have you been doing?
Yoga, hiking, biking, walking, hand weights, squats, lunges etc
How are you feeling about your activity? Any recent successes you want to share? Any challenges coming up?
Getting better now that I'm a little less tired. Just got a yoga pass for a few weeks to try a new place out. Went yesterday and going tomorrow and Sunday ... will see how much I can get in! I always struggle with yoga studios bc of lack of child care, so I can only go when DH is around and he works crazy hours..

GTKY- Would you rather workout solo or with a friend/partner?
depends. I'd rather hike/bike with someone else. I walk with my dogs. I like yoga classes versus being on my own. But I'd rather do weights and other exercises alone.

What type of activity/activities have you been doing? Yoga, walking and running

How are you feeling about your activity? Any recent successes you want to share? Any challenges coming up? Last week i did great, this week not so much. I had to work late two nights this week and we went to Disneyland all day yesterday. I have a 10K tomorrow and I’m hoping to get in a short workout today.

Questions, raves, rants, concerns? Rant- my energy levels are still so low. Rave- we find out if this baby is a boy or girl today.

GTKY- Would you rather workout solo or with a friend/partner? With a friend. My RBF(running best friend) is one of my closest friends. She’s been traveling for work a lot this year and I miss her. I love our weekend long runs together.
  • @fraufarbissina I swam in high school and I miss it. It’s a great workout.

@suchaglencoco that’s frustrating. I know my HR elevates much easier now.

@abhphilly I’m with you. I need to get myself motivated to take out the yoga mat or get on the treadmill.

    @MissusTexas good job!

@holli0801 good luck with the new place!
  • @mileswithmyles good luck with your 10k! That's badass. I could never  :D
  • @mileswithmyles, glad to now I'm not the only one. I checked my Fitbit and my resting heart rate hasn't changed.
Have fun at your 10k tomorrow!  That came up fast.

What type of activity/activities have you been doing?
    Running everyday.
How are you feeling about your activity? Any recent successes you want to share? Any challenges coming up?
I’ve been doing a lot of 1 mile runs, which is the minimum to stay on the streak. I’ve been so tired. Just excited to move to the second tri and get some energy!!
    Questions, raves, rants, concerns?
Has anyone done a half less than a month before delivery?  I signed up last year and now I’m questioning if I should attempt it. I did a super slow 15k at 34 weeks with ds2. This would be at 37 weeks and I’d be 3 hours away from home.
GTKY- Would you rather workout solo or with a friend/partner?
with a friend for sure!!! Makes the time go so much faster.
@mileswithmyles how was your run?? Are you running way slower? I’ve noticed with each pregnancy I’m slower and slower!

  • @abhphilly I never thought about checking resting hr on Fitbit!  Mine has gone up about 10bpm. Is there a way to look back and see hr for the day or week?

  • @roomsu I am getting ready to head out now (west coast).  I do find that I am slower this time around, but I also wasn’t as fact going in to this pregnancy compared to DS. But I definitely feel more winded now and I remember that with DS, too.

I had a rough night last night and was up throwing up. I ran out of HG meds and can’t get a refill for a few more days. The Unisom and B6 aren’t cutting it. I almost bailed when my alarm went off this morning, but I’ve never take a “Did not start” or a “Did not finish” at a race, so I’m going. It’s going to be slow, but I’ll finish.

I’ve never done a half that close. I think I stopped running completely with DS around 34 weeks. My balance got bad and I felt the constant need to pee, so I switched to walking. What’s the time limit on the race?
  • @roomsu If you’re in the FitBit app, click on the heart rate tile and it will bring you to graph of the past month. You can swipe to see previous months too.

  • @mileswithmyles I have a love/hate relationship with swimming but now that I'm doing it just for fun, I can actually enjoy it.  I hope your run went well!  You are awesome for doing it even though you weren't feeling well. I am always impressed by runners and you get bonus points for being pregnant, sick, and not getting a good sleep!!
  • @fraufarbissina Thank you!  I finished and I felt really good afterwards.  It wasn't my fastest race, but that's okay. I really didn't want to go, but I reminded myself that I never regret the runs I do and I always regret the ones I miss.
