WTF to my DD today too. I understand that this has kind of almost been the week from hell, but I do not appreciate knock down drag out tantrums about chap stick. So let’s stop, k...
WTF to my boss for sending out an email and asking what he can do to prevent us from having to do extra work on the weekends, while simultaneously assigning us a high priority project EVERY Thursday that MUST be done by Tuesday. Um, how about try growing a set and standing up to other departments instead of giving in to their totally unrealistic demands/wet dreams!!
@runsomewhere - same. I feel like I'm being obvious about it and they're going to guess. I work very closely with 3 other girls. I told DH husband I feel like they already know, he said I could tell them ONLY if it were because I know they know or they ask..... so I'm trying to be good and not tell them anyway.
@lindsayleigh1989 You poor thing, I'm sorry I laughed way too loud since you wrote it like you were talking to her.
I'm joining the WTF toddler tantrum bandwagon. My sweet lovable 22 month old DD has been replaced with a whiny, demanding, sensitive creature who bursts into tears and melts to the floor at the drop of a hat. This is making me DREAD the tween years, sigh. Thank god DH has summoned the patience of a saint since I have lost all of mine and am so ragey.
Daylight savings did something awful to DS. It's not even his sleep that's the issue, he's been the biggest crank ever since. Plus he's still not a great talker. I feel like I'm hostage negotiating with a tiny dictator that doesn't even speak English.
@acunamatada OMG! I forgot about daylight savings! Ugh, I really hope that's the cause and all of us catch a break soon! Also, that whole negotiating comment is so spot on!
Yup, daylight savings is definitely to blame for my toddler waking up at 4am every morning this week and being super cranky.
My WTF for today is finances. It doesn't seem to matter how much we cut out of our budget or how many raises and promotions we both get, we are still always just trying to stay afloat. Something unexpected always pops up to derail us, and it doesn't help that I get zero maternity leave (so we used all our savings last time) and we pay insane premiums for crappy health insurance with a high deductible. And we both have well paying jobs, we just live in one of the most expensive areas in the country where it's incredibly difficult to get by. Sigh. Some day my dream of moving somewhere really affordable will be realized...
WTF new toddler phase. The Bean is saying everything is "too tight!" now and throwing tantrums. Pants. Shoes. (they're not, I checked) Socks. (wtf?) Car seat. Sorry, kid. I care more about your safety than I do about my own ears on the drive to school. Don't tempt me, though.
@zande2016 Ohh, hon. Solidarity. We actually moved to a more affordable area last year to get away from the cost of living in Google's backyard, and it's been a nightmare. Every month some new house expense has come up, and we've been house-poor and underwater since the move. It's getting to the point where I don't know how we're going to make things work, and even though it would have been more expensive to stay where we were I regret ever moving.
@gspmom21 Thanks, hon. The Man's Christmas bonus should put us back close to the black, and we're doing a financial peace seminar soon. It's just so frustrating to feel like we can never get ahead. I want a savings back, darn it!
@christycalifornia We LOVE Dave Ramsey, and fully believe the majority of his lessons and beliefs have put us on the right track. I typically suggest him to anyone who says they need help in the financial department. We don't follow everything he does, but the majority of it. Have fun, and open your mind!! I don't think it works for everyone, and it's hard to start at first, but it pays off when you are able. I don't talk about it a lot, I feel that it seems like bragging when I tell people how it works, but if you have any questions more than happy to help!
WTF to my DD today too. I understand that this has kind of almost been the week from hell, but I do not appreciate knock down drag out tantrums about chap stick. So let’s stop, k...
Oh my gosh, I'm sorry that is giving you a hard time but as a chap stick addict this just made me LOL.
Side note: I noticed on our spreadsheet that you spell your name the same way I do. I almost never meet another Meagan! ::High Five::
Meagan Married 6.12.10 DS 11.8.12 Baby GIRL! due 7.4.18
@christycalifornia sorry you're going through this too! It's so stressful, especially when you're expecting. We want to move but would need some savings before that could happen, and lately we just can't seem to put anything away.
@gspmom21 I've heard good things about Ramsey but I also feel like we are just STUCK on so many of our bills/expenses. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but I honestly can't figure out a way to get us unstuck. I might check it out in the new year and see if I'm missing anything. Part of our problem is I racked up huge CC debt during law school, then we spent all our savings during my 100% unpaid maternity leave last year, and racked up more CC debt to get by while I was out. Before we had our son and were in a good place, I made a really aggressive plan to pay down the debt, but now with all the hospital bills, daycare, etc., the amount of money I'm locked into paying towards that debt is too much for us, but I don't think I can get out of it. Things will hopefully get better in a couple years when everything is paid off.
@gspmom21 I'll DM you if I do, for sure! I know he's worked for a lot of my friends, and what we're doing now ISN'T working, so we'll get on it. He's staring at me from the top of the box now....
@acunamatada. Omg I'm sorry I laughed so hard at the tiny dictator who doesn't speak English. My 2 year old just started really being able to speak and express himself during tantrums and I Am SO thankful because I feel ya, that is the worst!!
@zande2016 and @christycalifornia. Right there with you girls. I feel like we're constantly trying to to stay afloat and it's hard to doggy paddle constantly! Daycare is a killer for us and I also don't get any paid mat. Leave so I am freaking out a bit because we have nothing already! Just wanted To say I totally get it and your born alone.
@bubby15 I'm sorry you're dealing with this too. The maternity leave situation in this country makes me so so angry. No family should be forced to go into debt in order to have a child. I am really thankful my state just passed a new law that goes into effect Jan 1, so this time around I will get some paid leave thanks to the new law, but still not a lot. And daycare where I live is basically a second rent/mortgage.
@zande2016. Yes daycare by me is also! With one it's half my mortgage with two it isn't my mortgage, so ridiculous!! Glad you will get some relief this time around. DH luckily gets a lot of vacation time and is eligible for FMLA so we may look into that this time as I am really hoping to stay home longer then 6 weeks this time.
@zande2016@bubby15 daycare is literally the reason I don't work FT. It would basically be half of my paycheck! I'd rather get paid a little less and spend more time with DS, especially with another one on the way. Two in daycare would be insane! I feel for you.
ETA the bump has been eating my posts all day and I'm about to lose it
@acunamatada I cringe to think about what two in day care will be! Actually hiring a full time nanny will likely be cheaper so we might go that route. I would love to work part time - I would totally take a pay cut to do that if I could.
I'm also with everyone on the financial stuff. On top of the usual bills DH has to pay child support for SD. I understand that the purpose is to protect the mother, but its so high and unreasonable that DH couldn't possibly afford to live on his own. We're only staying above water with a tiny bit of savings bc DH coaches both a college and a high school sports team as a second and third job so we can make it. I'm so thankful that he gets to do something he really enjoys for his part time jobs to supplement our income.
Girls I so feel ya. I had to move to teach in BF Nowhere Alaska to actually get ahead and pay bills. And if the school district did not cover rent and utilities as part of our pay package (they basically take it right out of our paychecks) we could not survive.
WTF girls on my Mixed 6 Volleyball team. Have 4 on the team, need 3 to play, 2 are MIA from school this week so that means I need to cancel our tournament for this weekend. For the 3rd week in a row >:(
@zande2016 RIGHT??? Why is our country so backwards when it comes to treating mothers humanely? It literally makes me see red. We need more women in office, get this maternity leave shiz together finally! Last time I was in California, which has the best coverage in the states, and it still is nowhere near what other countries do. I haven't even looked into what my benefits are in CO since i'm not currently working, and I don't want to get depressed. It's seriously the worst thing ever. For Mother's Day, screw the platitudes and photo ops from congress saying how much they appreciate mothers. Give me proper paid mat leave, insurance, paternity (spousal) leave, and free breast pumps and lactation classes, dammit!

I've never had mat leave before, but now where I work gives 12 weeks full paid mat leave and 6 weeks additional part time [paid full time] and a bonus when returning to work. I am so thankful, because I don't know how we would make it without.
ETA, this should not be the exception to the rule -- it should be the rule!
@bradybunchmom89 omg! that sounds made up, that's so awesome!! I'm glad you're at a job that offers that. My job allows you to take 12 weeks off. However, you only get paid the vacation you have saved up, so after you come back you don't have any vacation for the rest of the year... but I'm a whole lot luckier than a lot of other moms.

and yes!! I noticed that too! I always feel like I’m a part of a secret club when I see another Meagan spelled the same way!
My WTF is this appraiser I am having to deal with at work. Rant: Yes, you have to show support for your work. You learned this in math class in high school. Quit complaining when I call you out for not supporting your work or adjustments... it's my j.o.b. I don't get paid the big bucks like you. end rant.

My wtf is why does the bump keep typing random words in my reply, like changing what I'm trying to say!!! I go back and read my replies and go da f?!? I did not write that and it makes no sense!!

I feel yah. Autocorrect is so quick to judge on TB... turned though into Thomas on the last thing I posted. Major eye roll...
WTF hunger pains? I was trying to teach classes tonight and I started getting so many pains in my stomach that were totally out of control to and from picking my son up. Now, I'm no stranger to skipping meals, but I'VE BEEN EATING ALLLLL DAY! I ate and suddenly poof... no more pains. I guess that's a big fat hello from this new pregnancy. Not fun for someone with a history of miscarriages... this kid is trouble already
