Hi all, I think I'm doing this right by posting in here....

My name is Jamie, I put my post up in a new thread explaining my story, short version is my hubby and I have been TTC for a year and a half now - seeing an RE for about a year.  We took a short break for both sanity and money (and got married in the interim!) and now are back at it!  We are currently saving for IVF which is the next step according to our RE (3 failed IUI cycles, 2 cancelled cycles) - diagnosis seems to be "unexplained" - my internal area looks good and hubbys sperm is apparently "super" (high count and motility).  We just can't seem to get sperm and egg to connect!  

Currently I am taking Femara at the begining of my cycle for the next few months, prescribed by my RE to help with follicle growth while we are saving for IVF on the off chance we can get sperm and egg to connect naturally.  I'm not being monitored though which is odd for me after 6 or 7 months of non stop blood tests and ultrasounds! I should ovulate today or tomorrow according to both Flo and FF.  So entering the TWW!

Hmmm first job was babysitting, first job at a "company" was child care at our local YMCA (seeing a pattern? lol).

AFM still hanging out in the TWW and trying to be positive. I told DH today that if this embie doesn’t implant I’m blaming my idiot colleagues for the unnecessary stress they cause every. single. day. I’ll probably POAS on Sunday since my beta is on Monday and I don’t want to be surprised at work.

QOTW I was a bagger at a grocery store. I guess they don’t really have those now.

@thothscribe81 Your story sounds similar to mine--we've been TTC for 16 months now, seeing an RE for 5 months.  Unexplained, DH's sperm is great, my tubes, etc look good.  My ovulation has been weak, but now they've got me on Femara + HCG trigger with an IUI, and I've been Oing much better since then.

AFM I just finished this round of Femara.  Saturday I go in for an ultrasound to check the status of the follicles, and then I'll do an HCG trigger shot, preceding my next IUI (Mon or Tues).  I get super emotional about the holidays, and I'm dreading the next couple BFNs.

QOTW: I worked at Subway.  My dad got me the job b/c he knew the owner--she said she never hires teenagers but was making an exception for me.  Well...she shouldn't have.  She was super strict (would stand over us with a stopwatch while we made sandwiches) and the job just sucked, but I was a terrible employee.  I was terrified of getting in trouble, which just made me jumpy and slow at my job.  I never even picked up my last paycheck--that's how much I hated that job.     Happy to say that I am now in a job that I love, and it makes all the difference in the world.

Not much new to report here. I had to hide a ton of FB posts this past week, too many baby showers and pictures of baby bumps. I am feeling better about TTC, maybe I am out of my funk I was in.

QOTW: I was a receptionist after school for a technology company that had contracts with the government. It wasn't bad, eneded up working part time after I graduated. Some of the stuff they built got put on space ships that actaully launched so that was pretty cool!

DH and I had our IVF consult today. We both really liked our new doctor. She was WAY more high energy than I was anticipating but she was very nice, thorough, and answered every single one of my questions (which went on for 2 full pages). We also had to meet with the financial advisor who was also very nice and helpful.

She wants the AMH and DH's SA redone, just for their references. We got the AMH out of the way today. We go in again on the 27th to do the SA and my uterine mapping. We also meet with the staff psychologist that day (it's their clinics policy any couples doing IVF have a one time appointment with her).

They are putting me on birth control for 4-6weeks first, once my next cycle starts, which should be around next weekend. I was kind of hoping to start right away, but I knew that would be a possibility. That should put us around a late December or early January transfer.

Our big discussion was financing on the way home. They do have a "shared risk package" (they called it something different though). 3 fresh cycles with all the resulting FETs from the retrievals.....if no baby after all that, 75% refund. DH and I are both leaning away from that and considering a single fresh transfer with up to 4 FETs if needed after. It may bit risky, but we both feel that, at the end of the day it leaves us with more options. Getting our money back if, God forbid, all those fresh cycles and FETS failed, and still having no baby and lost potentially a couple of years, I feel would be worse than doing something a bit more cost manageable and exploring fostering/adoption if it didn't work out. At this point, I don't feel that I HAVE to have a child that is biologically linked to me. I just want a baby.

After devoting myself to getting more answers on my health, I'm back. It's kind of a long, boring, frustrating story summed up to: there's nothing "wrong" aside from mild nonspecific hormonal imbalance and DH having low motility.

@thothscribe81 welcome! I’ve had three failed IUI cycles too and am onto IVF now! Hope it works out for you naturally! 

@soehlerk hope this IUI works out for you! Stay positive- maybe you won’t have any more BFNs!! 

@eranvo27 definitely feel ya on all the baby posts! I’m happy for other people but sometimes it’s just like I’m rubbing it in my own face. Like the same day as my last BFN, I went online and a pregnancy announcement was the first thing on my feed and I thought why am I even on here?? Why am I doing this to myself?? Oy. 

@hoffmanr7 so glad you liked your doctor! It’s disappointing that you can’t start right away but at least you’re on the path there now. It will come before you know it!

@BenJay welcome! It’s frustrating when there’s nothing particular wrong and it just won’t work out. Are you being monitored at all?

AFM I started my stims for my first IVF cycle. Go in tomorrow for another HSG since my doc thinks it helps with the IVF process. So not looking forward to that. Ugh. But if there’s a chance it’ll help I guess it’s worth it!  

My first real job was as a page in the library. Absolutely loved it!!

AFM- I had another appointment with my second opinion Dr and she didn't really have much else to offer. She said we are doing everything we possibly can and just need to find the right embryo.  AF should be here by Friday or Saturday and then we will start the process for our ERA and my next FET should be somewhere around Christmas.  Short answer, waiting. 

QOTW- My first job was at Limited Too and I made $5.50.  I was going to work at Claire's but when Limited Too offered me a quarter more an hour I jumped at it instead haha.

@mac627 We're kind of at that stage of just trying anything. Several rounds of Clomid, 3x IUI + Ovidrel and our HMO pretty much gave up. 

My doctor has been great, working through recommendations from my naturopath (whom I have stopped seeing), because both experts go "something's off, maybe try losing weight?" Having thyroid problems makes losing pretty much impossible but I feel less puffy since I started Metformin. 

We're in a stage of just doing whatever won't hurt our chances.

@hoffmanr7 - I love the long posts! I'm sorry you need to suppress (what a drag!) but I hope it goes by fast. I was so upset when they put me on BC - I wished I'd done it before the consult - and waiting the extra month seemed like torture. But once I started stimming, it went fast.

So you're thinking of opting for the one cycle with up to 4 FETs and not the shared risk? I think that's prudent, especially given your age. Regardless, I hope you don't have to make a decision before you have your AMH results - you will definitely know more then.

I'm really hoping this IVF cycle is the one for you!!!! Hoping your baby is going to be here soon!

AFM: I am now 4DPO and using all of my strength to resist testing (even though I know its WAY too early) haha. I'm hoping at least one of our two eggs has fertilised and I'm actually feeling fairly cautiously confident this cycle.
**TW**  Weirdly, when I got pregnant before I had this weird thing where I could smell cucumber from really far away in the first few weeks, before I even knew I was KU, and yesterday I could smell cucumber for across the office, so I'm using that as a good sign

QOTW: I was a stable hand at a local equestrian centre Lots of tacking up horses and mucking out stables. Fun fun haha

@soehlerk Our stories do sound similar!  Good luck with the appt to check follies and then your upcoming IUI!  I will say that while I don't really miss traveling to go to SO many doctor appts for all the monitoring, this month I have felt totally lost without it!  I'm like, how do I know if I'm ovulating if I dont have my RE telling me my follicles are a certain size! Arrgh!  Hopefully you get some good sized follicles after the Femara!!  Did you have any side effects?  I think for me it was just some hot flashes.  Much better then when they had me on clomid!

@hoffmanr7 Hi!  My hubby and I actually made the same decision about the shared risk package option!  It was double the price of the next one down and we decided that we would rather take our chances with the 2 transfers the lower priced package cost and then if that doesn't work we can explore adoption.  Theres obviously a pull towards the option that gives you money back if it doesn't work - but I feel the same as you do, my whole goal is to have a baby and my RE was optimistic IVF will work for us.  We thought taking the less costly option and having money left over for the possibility of adoption was the better option for us. Good luck with all the stuff leading up to your transfer!  

@eranvo27 I feel you on the baby posts - halloween was especially hard because I love the holiday and can't wait to celebrate it with a little one in the house!  Seeing all the posts of friends kids dressed up was tough!  Hopefully you have a better week this week! *hugs*

I will say that one of the differences this time around is that my sister-in-law is also trying to get pregnant.  She and her husband are pretty early on in the process but its comforting being able to drop her a text or a phone call when I'm feeling especially stressed or sad about everything.  She at least "gets" it even if she's not in the "trouble ttc" stage, she knows how it feels to be taking tests every month and over analyzing symptoms, etc..!!

@funkykey- Right with the BC!!  Like I stated, I knew it was a possibilty, but it would have been super great if when I made the appointment they could have just said...."BTW, if you are gun-ho to get started, lets get you on BC right away so you're ready to go." An unrealistic expectation as no doctor would prescribe anything without seeing someone first.....but now I have to wait. Boooooooo

@thothscribe81 I know what you mean about Halloween.  All those cute pics of babies/kids in costume was so hard.

@soehlerk Good luck with your IUI next week!  I really hope this one is a BFP so you don't have to worry about being unhappy during the holidays--or dread those BFNs anymore.

@hoffmanr7 Wow, it sounds like you found a really attentive doctor.  I'm really happy for you.  Sorry to hear about the BC delay, though.  Before this FET we had an unexpected 2-cycle delay, but it flew by pretty quickly.  I hope your next few weeks will, too!  Also, that's a hard decision to make about the financing.  I think the decision you're leaning toward sounds like it's the best one for your situation, though.  That's up to 5 tries, if all goes well, so it is quite a lot. 

@BenJay !! Welcome back, lady!!  I've missed you, too.  I am very sorry that you HAD to come back, though.  I'm really happy you're back just in time for holiday baking fails.  That was a fantastic thread last year.  

@mac627 Congratulations on starting your stims!  How are you feeling?  How did your HSG go today?  I would be so annoyed if they said I had to do another one.  I know some people have no problems, but mine hurt a lot.  Sounds like you didn't have a great experience, either.  Hopefully it's worth it!

@Worldtravler0522 I guess on the plus side it's good if your current RE and your second opinion are on the same page.  I'm sorry it's just more waiting, though.

@thothscribe81 I don't have a ton of side effects with the Femara--generally I feel a bit more emotional, but that's par for the course.  I had some hot flashes when I first started it, but not so much anymore.  The HCG trigger shot (Ovidrel) definitely gives me emotional swings, but then they level out after a week or so.  Poor DH.

@soehlerk I know what you mean about the mood swings and emotions!  When we decided to take a break I don't think I had even realized anymore how funky all the meds were making me feel - it was just a constant from the meds I was taking when I started my cycle, then the trigger, then progesterone, etc...  The first few weeks I was off everything I was like omg this is what my real emotions are lol.  It felt so good!  I'm not looking forward to jumping back into that emotional bandwagon but if it gets me preggers I'm all in!

@thothscribe81 I agree about having someone else close to you TTC. One of my best friends was too, and it was really helpful for the three months she was trying lol. Now that she’s KO not so much! I can still talk with her because at least she knows what’s going on and is knowledgeable. When I talk to some people it’s like I’m just educating them on IF instead of really getting support. Still helps to talk about it though. I’m just now starting to open up to some people about it and get more involved here too. 

I had my third HSG today. @Bababatty Sooooooo uncomfortable. Ugh. Lots of cramping. My first one was HORRIBLY uncomfortable, my second one was at least quicker and this one was right in the middle. I hate them so much. They won’t make me do it again unless I’m still TTC after 60 days so I’m really hoping I’m almost done!

But it went well - everything looks good. And I already have some follies creeping up to 14! Eek! They want me to start ganirelex tomorrow morning! I’ve only been stimming since Tuesday. Now of course my ER is potentially moved up to next Wednesday or Thursday. This seems so soon to me but I responded quickly during my IUI cycles too so I guess that’s about right.

UPDATE:

Just got back from the doctors for my ultrasound.

I only had 1 of the 4 follicles grow at all

But the one is now 19mm and she did the trigger shot, she said the size and quality was really good of the one follicle I had and said my uterus lining looked perfect for implantation.

I am crossing my fingers, that this cycle will still work.

The hubby didn't go to the appointment but when I told him, he was kinda bummed too but we can't get too bummed because there is a really good one, so we just have to make this one work.

@mac627 I've thought about whats going to happen when she gets pregnant - it'll probably be sooner rather than later and I'll be sooooo happy for her, but I know it'll hurt a little too since we've been trying so long with no success.  But I can't wait to be an Aunt as well as a mom so I know i'll just have to keep telling myself that and I know she will still be super supportive with our journey as well!   I'm sorry you were so crampy after your HSG, I only had one and it was horrible!  The cramps were so bad!  So far it doesn't look like I'll have to do it again unless the want to do it as part of the IVF in a few months so we will see!  I hope your ER goes well next week!!

@BenJay - you know, I haven't baked at all since that thread. My fails were SO bad! LOL. Gah. This year though, I'm not sure if I'll have time... I'm the maid (matron?) of honor in a wedding about a week before Christmas, so my December weekends are packed with wedding duties.

Maybe I'll attempt just one recipe? Or just practice my icing technique? (Also - from a separate thread but still... Good luck with your interview!!!)

@tops-2 - keeping FX for you.

@thothscribe81 - I have such a hard time with the holidays. Even looking at Christmas ornaments, I had to stop myself from being sad about the "baby's first christmas" ones.

@funkykey I totally hear you on the holidays - I remember when we first started trying and I was so excited to see baby Christmas stuff - like omg we are gonna get to buy these soon!  Now i'm like omg are we EVER going to get to buy this stuff???  I try and remind myself that it'll happen someday, even if we end up adopting, but its still hard sometimes, especially when on multiple hormone inducing treatments!  *hugs*

I need an opinion,

Hubby and I plan on testing the 23rd, one because it's our 2 year anniversary and two because it's Thanksgiving.

Do you think that would be too soon?

I would be 13 days past trigger and 12 days past ovulation.

@Knottie1467155066 I dont think thats to early - as long as you are okay with the possibility that you  could still get a false negative - it would still be more than possible to get a positive in the week or two after 12dpo - so stay positive if the test is negative!  

I think this was asked before - but would be able to change your username via the settings in your profile?  Its tough to keep all the numbers straight at the end of your user in order to reply to you correctly! :-)

I’m doing daily monitoring at this point. They expect I’ll trigger tomorrow and have the ER on Thursday but I’ll know after my appointment tomorrow! Almost there! (And by “there” I mean one step closer in a series of a million steps that may or may not happen ha)

1. 8 months trying, 11 not preventing
2. Irregular cycles 16-64 days
3. I will see the gyn next month (as soon as Icould get in) to see what is going on.

My first job was working the concession stand at the public pool. We also had to clean the bathrooms. Not my favorite job ever.

@MicahDahn Welcome!  hopefully your ob will give you some guidance as to what is going on - do you have any RE's in your area or are you waiting for your ob's recommendations?

@Knottie1467155066 Thanks! We did 6 failed IUIs and 1 round of IVF. This was our second transfer (first FET). 

I hope your TWW is going by fast. I charted for my first couple of IUIs by I believe the meds can kind of throw things off, and all it did was stress me out.

Thanks guys! FET is done... the wait has begun!

I feel a little like a crazy person, talking to my embryo. Last night I spent a lot of time lying down and hoping that every twinge was it settling in!

@Knottie1467155066 - I don't think that would be too soon, particularly if you use the FRER. I know other women who start with the wondfos earlier & watch the trigger leave their system (so like, 8dpo, 9dpo, 10dpo, etc) - wait until they get a negative, and then watch for it to become positive again. That's one way to make sure the trigger isn't giving you a false positive, but of course, depends on your dose.

@Bababatty - Bah!!! Still so thrilled for you!!! I'm so, so pleased! I've been watching you with the BFNs for so, so long... I cannot believe it's now (finally!) BFP!!! Keeping FX for doubling numbers and hoping you get to meet your baby soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
