  • @kyrwyn I'm not sure I think anyone practices bagpipes very well. We have a leaf-blowing problem that early in the morning. I feel like that should be a 9am+ activity.

Turns out the hospital where I was monitored on Sunday fell out of network sometime in the last three weeks and I didn't think to check. Which solves my choice for where to birth.
  • @kyrwyn @babybison Some people just feel entitled to do whatever they want, no matter how it affects their neighbors. So rude. My super-rural township passed a noise ordinance this year due to a few families being huge nuisances with ATVs, chainsaws, etc. Now when we call the police about noise, they can do something!
  • @kyrwyn @babybison @Amber_Waves i second Amber in the entitlement. I live in apartment  complex is a constant stream of noise!!! In the apartment right next to our they have several dogs that like to whine and howl anywhere from 7am-2/3am. Not including the drinking and smoking in the hallway from another set of them as well. Im praying it wont disturb the little one when she gets here or else imma go full b mode on them. Apartment complex=i can do what i want whenever without regards to neighbors!!!!! At least the hooker is gone now  :/
  • About 15 years ago, I lived in a different community and there was an older gentleman who played his bagpipes at sunset every day while he walked through the neighborhood park.  He was quite accomplished and it was actually pretty beautiful.  (But then again, I'm part Scottish so maybe I'm genetically required to appreciate pipes).  So, I'd say there's some nice ways to practice bagpipes -- but they're very rare.

@elvenchick92686 Yes.  The apartments I've lived in were often quite loud and I was super happy when we were able to move to the 'burbs.  Our neighborhood is pretty quiet, on average, unless someone's asshole dog starts the bark chain (and that's usually my asshole dog... of course) or someone's doing gardening and/or construction.  The last year I was in my last apartment, the neighbors across from me had a weekly domestic dispute worthy of a non-emergency line police call.  I don't miss it, but I did know our neighborhood patrol very well by the end of that year.

  • @kyrwyn yeah. We know ours quite well from the hooker(think 3/4am door banging and yelling and cussing bout sex) and the pot smokers right after that. I have nothing against it but if you smoke enough it travels to connecting apartments, yeahhh.  Thankfully, during the last "incident" before the pot smokers were removed he tried to hit the cop there to help the domestic violence call. Only amusing thing about that call was the mom yelling at the cop about her car!!! Forget the fact her son hit a cop and was arrested she was more worried about getting her car searched for pot lol. Ill be glad when we can move sometime in the next couple years!!!
  • Ugh, there's some guy in our neighborhood who just randomly sets off fireworks, usually late at night on weekends. Not just around the 4th or New Years. It's just his thing. He's referred to around here as the "[name of our neighborhood] Fireworks Guy" but apparently no one knows exactly where he lives (and the few people that do just don't care? or they're friends with him?). If I knew where he was I'd call the cops every time, lol. It drives me insane because it terrifies one of my dogs, sometimes both.

  • This may contain a trigger warning, I'm not sure, but TW anyway.
DH made me watch a Dr. Phil ep yesterday where this lady allegedly made up pregnancies and miscarriages, all the way to 33 weeks at one point, including ultrasound pics and baby showers. I don't know if she really did it or not (that's today's episode) but it's a horrible horrible thing to do if it's true. I can't imagine lying about something like a pregnancy to all those people for so long, and then about a loss. There must be some serious mental issues going on.
  • @MJDsquared that’s the worst! I hate fireworks, especially when not on the holiday. I have a dog with a big phobia too. She’s torn up carpet etc

  • @flowerpower5838 That is tragic! Also, I was like, "Where have I heard that recently...?" then realized I read that someone's Target is closing by February on the March board when I was lurking. So one of your neighbors (one of the ones who doesn't neglect your poor Target) may be in the March BMB. Lol.

  • Our house backs up to a cemetery and we’ll randomly hear the bag pipes during a funeral. Also, we had a neighbor mow her damn lawn with her flash light at 5 am one morning. And when i lived in another city, my target closed. Broke my heart.

  • It seems like a post-apocalyptic YA novel for Target to close.
  • @whiska SO did that to me last night cause he swore he felt her "burp". I say that because sometimes when i breathe i have air pockets popping so i guess he thought it was LO. I tried to tell him otherwise but he wouldn't listen and kept on to make it do it again lol. I finally rolled over the other way so he couldn't touch me.
  • @whiska Omg, yes! H presses so hard! It doesn’t hurt usually but he’ll be like, “She moved!” and I’ll be like, “...she did?” because he’s pressing hard enough that I can only feel his hand, not her movement. Lol.

I have my GBS test in an hour and I don' wannnnnaaaa. :'(:#
I have IBS-D, which makes me super uncomfortable with anyone near my butt.
  • @babybison I literally didn't know until yesterday (from someone mentioning it on another BMB while I was lurking) that they swab your butt. That was fun information to learn!

  • @babybison I had massive anxiety leading up to the test (could feel myself approaching a panic attack), and then it was over in <2 seconds. The anticipation was 1,000% worse than the actual swab. Just keep telling yourself it'll be over before you know it.

  • @babybison thanks for noting that because I had no clue that's how they do the test. That'll be fun with my hemorrhoid LOL.
  • Speaking of the GBS test, does anyone else out there get to skip the test? Since I tested positive for GBS earlier in my pregnancy (and was prescribed a round of antibiotics), they aren't testing me again. I'm assuming it's because they know I'm a carrier/am still positive?
  • @clovelyone ehhh it's not too bad even with hemmoriods from what I remember. Like @djd0404 said, the whole test is like 2 seconds long. It's more awkward than anything.
  • hellothere47 Same - since it can come and go I'll just automatically get antibiotics via an IV during labor.

  • Wait wait wait wait waaaaaaiiiittttt a minute.  Who’s touching my butthole and why?

Also, is anyone else just so completely lazy?  I woke up this morning at about 8:37, showered, ate breakfast, and then promptly sat back down on the couch, where I have been watching tv ever since.  I have so much to do and I don’t feel like doing ANY of it. I’m so tired!
  • I also have no idea what this butt swabbing test is about. Maybe I'm exempt for some reason, or maybe my doctor is just planning to surprise me with it at some point, since it sounds like such a fun surprise.

  • @breezybee My MIL picked up DD to stay at her house until Saturday. I'm planning on being lazy all afternoon and all day tomorrow. I *might* do a load of laundry since I'm running low on underwear, but we'll see lol
  • @breezybee I can't even be bothered to put on makeup anymore. My makeup routine takes like five minutes. Lately I've been like, "Ehhh, I don't wanna do it now [before work], I'll just bring it with me." I bring it with me and I think I've only done it at my desk like 1/5 times I've done this recently. Lol.

  • @breezybee Soooo lazy.  Better than a few weeks ago when I felt like I could barely function, but I'm moving at a sloth's pace.

@MJDsquared I had no idea until I was reading one of those random emails (I'm sure I'm not the only one on a ton of Your Pregnancy This Week mailing lists) and they mentioned a rectal swab.  I knew about the GBS test but assumed it was just the vag so I was like, say what now?

  •  I think I was psyching myself out. Some things I read said swab in your butt and some just said around. Mine was around. Also a dry q-tip in the vag is wholly uncomfortable. But @djd0404 is right, it was super quick and my midwife was nice and explanatory instead of like, SURPRISE!
  • @Skcobb I'm not afraid of pain or anything, it's just awkward and even moreso since I have a hemorrhoid. Thanks for the info ladies! It's good to know that it's just an outside swab as well.
  • @clovelyone  Woooo hemorrhoid club! I was worried about that too.  Glad it won't be too invasive.
  • @clovelyone at this point, I've just resigned myself to everything being awkward from here on out lol
  • I realllllllly want to get a Brazilian wax before D day, but I don’t want my regular girl to see my swollen vag.  Now im all freaked out about people seeing my vag and butt while they’re not in their pristine state lol.  Yes, I know no one else will care, but I DO!
not looking for a solution, just complaining lol
