Travel Car Seat?

Need some help. We have 2 (flying) trips coming up with a 2 year old and trying to figure out what to do about the car seat. I really don’t want to lug our heavy, convertible car seat. Thinking it might be more economical to buy something for travel over renting a seat, but I’m lost. Any recommendations or advice?
