Weekly Randoms - 10/29

Lots of little ones making their appearances! It's very exciting to see everyone's posts.  My husband and I enjoyed a really wonderful last date night as a due yesterday at our favorite restaurant in Maine.  It was so delicious!  And seems like not a moment too soon.  I've been having off-and-on Braxton Hicks contractions this afternoon, and I feel like I need to really put the breaks on everything.  I'm ready to be done being pregnant.

Of course, I say that and we woke up this morning to discover we have a roof leak.  Nothing like being 39w pregnant with a leaky roof.

Re: Weekly Randoms - 10/29

  • I'm pretty sure my husband is the most annoying person on the planet at this point in pregnancy. Literally takes all of my energy to not snap at him or throat punch him lately.

  • Does anyone else have zero nesting instincts? I’m 37 weeks today and I was hoping it would kick in by now but I’m getting less done than ever. Bare minimum to keep myself sane basically. Still haven’t washed baby’s clothes or put together the swing either or put together a hospital bag either. Every night I’m saying I’m going to get this that and the other done but then spend most of day just playing with my toddler and napping and eating haha. That burst of energy and ocd would sure come in hand right about now considering I had my last baby 16 days early which would mean this guy would be making his arrival Saturday if he’s anything like his brother!
  • Went to MFM today to have my weekly NST which I passed. I then had a growth scan. Baby weighing around 6lbs 4oz at 36+2. I was telling the US tech how baby hardly ever moves except during the NST. After the US she brought the results to the doctor who came in to talk to me. She said she’s very concerned about the decreased fetal movement. I told her that I’ve told my OB at all my appts but they never tell me what to do about it. So now the MFM doctor wants to see me every single day for a NST to make sure all is well with the baby. She really scared me when she said she’d hate for me to birth a stillborn. I’m pretty irritated that my OB docs never made a big deal out of baby’s lack of constant movement.

  • @MamaMJ2 yes!! I keep going when is it supposed to kick in??? I have been doing little things here and there. Our carseat still isnt installed. It's sitting on our floor. The pack n play is still in it's box. Decor is still laying around. And our house is a disaster! Because I do not have the energy or the time to clean and DH works crazy hours so he's never home to clean. I just did the dishes for the first time in about 1.5 weeks lmao! We were out of plates and knives, figured it was time. But seriously, I'm so scared baby is gonna come and we have all these tripping hazards, not to mention his stuff isn't done. I need nesting to kick in!
  • @MamaMJ2 @kaitlinliz I was told nesting kicks in  around 36 weeks which obviously isn't true for everyone.  I never had it either and feel much the same.  We had so much left to do and then she came and we are still trying to get organized.  It will come.
  • @kaitlinliz @angkay711 at least I’m not the only one! Lol makes me feel slightly better. I’m being terrible about feeding the family too I think I’ve asked my SO if we can just go out to eat instead like every other night
  • Oh hey guess who’s nesting crap just kicked in at midnight on a Monday :/ not exactly what I had in mind but I guess if you complain enough you’ll get what you ask for. Also could be a combination of me whining about it on here and the fact that my boyfriend has done absolutely none of the things he said he would do before the little one is here (like build a sidecar bassinet holder)
  • I started on our labor bags today lol! Still trying to find a bag for DH. He has at least 7 but they're all full of crap..he said they're all in use. WHY? There's no need! And he didn't put the carseat in like I asked. He actually asked me why it had to go in already. Seriously? Cuz we have 3 weeks if baby doesn't come early! Just getting frustrated with the lack of help. I hope I can pull this off before he comes. Plus as I was doing the bags my sciatica started acting up so it was off to bed for me.
  • @kaitlinliz I know how you feel. I'm due next Friday and my husband is annoying the helll out of me. He is on vacation this week so that doesn't help matters much. Maybe it's just the hormones but he is driving me crazy
  • @dragonfly87-2 I know! Im over here like who are you and where have you been for the last 9 months!?!
  • I feel like that with a few of the announcements too

  • TMI tip for the mama’s still waiting on baby arrival. I ended up with a bad tear as well as an episiotomy (very much not desired, but the baby had an umbilical cord necklace and plummeting heart rate; it was get her out, and get her out fast).  Lots of stitches in my perineum. The last midwife who checked in on me before discharge had a fantastic tip I had not read in any of my books.  The first bowel movement after labor may take a few days. When it is time, take a few squares of toilet paper, fold it around your hand, and press your hand against your perineum when you feel the need to push/move your bowels. Helps prevent undue strain on the stitches and focus the pushing pressure on the anus not the perineum. Really, really helped.

Also, I absolutely love the gigantic perineum ice packs and, now that i’m home, my Padsicles. Love love love the ice. I swear it really has helped with the healing process for all the stitches.
  • @curiousfool1 I did not tear but this is baby #3, my midwife told me to be taking a stool softener at night especially since breastfeeding can lead to constipation.
  • I was asking around to some local mamas if anyone had a moby they were done with and wanted to give or sell me because I don’t really want to pay full price and one of the gurls suggested just making my own, so I’ve been google/pinteresting and thinking this is an amazing option, you literally don’t even have to see it if you don’t want to! Anyone doing or have done this?! So much cheaper and you get to pick your own fabric
  • @MamaMJ2 I bought my Moby wrap in a Facebook mom's group for $10. Maybe see if there is one in your area.
  • I think the nesting has started. I went to bed last night at about 7 to elevate my swollen feet. At about 8:30 I got up and started cleaning my bathroom and whole upstairs. This is not like me at all normally I would be like that will be tomorrows problem.  I think my husband thought I was crazy for cleaning at 8:30 at night.

  • @kdw89 hope everything goes smoothly.    :)
  • @kdw89 hopes for a smooth delivery!!

  • @NYTino24 Did you use your completion discount on Amazon and get the Diaper rewards?

I just finished ours last weekend and was so excited to get the $100 in diaper rewards. I ended getting diaper rash creams, 3 boxes of Huggies, box of wipes, bag refills for the diaper pail and individual diaper bags (for travel). We are starting with pampers, but since that wasn't an option, I just ordered the larger size of Huggies (4 & 5) and figured we can switch or gift them at some point. They all arrived on Thursday night and I felt like a huge dork for being so excited about the delivery.
  • @dragonfly87-2 I did use the completion discount, but it didn't take a ton off since our friends had gotten us the glider and we decided to wait on the City Select. We also had a crib, furniture, and all of the baby gear handed down already, so there wasn't a lot of big stuff on there. I got a ton of diapers already through the open box Amazon deals. None of them were open box or damaged boxes! I follow couple of Facebook groups that alert people when prices are very low. I'm stocked in sizes 1-3 already!

  • @NYTino24 Ah I see. Depending on how close you are to the diaper rewards minimum, consider adding items to your registry before you purchase on Amazon. We did end up buying our crib and stroller on their, which helped. But I also bought diapers on Amazon when promos were running, as well as nursing bras, nursing shirts and other somewhat random items that counted toward the diaper reward. I even bought a few gifts for friends with babies and added it to the registry first. That's what got us to the minimum! You should have until February to reach it and claim it.
  • @kdw89 hoping for a smooth delivery!!
  • The last few days I’ve been experiencing nausea, stomaches, backaches, and even had a little spotting. The nausea and backaches are mostly at night and have been keeping me up. I’m hoping it means baby is coming sooner rather than later.
  • I wondered if I was in labor twice this week already but was never hoping I was! Last night at the Michigan Vs Minn game there were times... but the LO is still there-even if our seats were up all those steps in the nose bleed section!

  • @kdw89: Now I feel anxious and curious about updates....(which you are totally not obligated to do given you are in labor lol). But I did see you were "active" within the past hour. Now I feel like a creeper/stalker.

FX your labor is progressing and your little one is on the way!
  • MamaMJ2 I have zero nesting instincts at this point (37w3d)...but DH all of the sudden does lol. I am chilling on the couch as I type and he is in our garage...."cleaning and organizing it." It has been in the same condition (overcrowded and disorganized) for over a year, and all of the sudden he wants it to be cleaned. I appreciate it, but I don't have the energy or mobility to be of much help.

I did take the initiative (and it took a lot of will power) to wash, fold and put away all the clothes, blankets and fabric items that will go in the nursery. But the urge to do it was not there, more of a "well, it will be easier to do it now before I have a crying baby" won in the logic argument.

@dragonfly87-2 My DH is out cleaning the garage right now too. There’s stuff in there we haven’t touched since we moved in almost two years ago. On the plus side, he found a ton of DD2’s baby clothes that I thought we had gotten rid of so we can get that washed up for DD3.
  • OMG ladies..I seriously need to start nesting and it's not happening! I wish DH would start nesting for me like some of you lucky ladies. There's so many tripping hazards in our house along with the carseats STILL in our dining room. MIL got us the pack n play and that's been in the dining room for a week now still not unpacked. I'm about to scream. Plus my sciatica is awful. I don't kno if it's my sciatica or I slipped my SI joint (I slipped my right one a few years back, and it feels similar on the left side) I can barely walk.

I love being pregnant but I'm seriously so over it at this point. I'm ready to be in the hospital.
