I'm craving my favorite deep fried sushi rolls really badly but I'm afraid to get them for obvious reasons. Does anyone know if it's okay if it's cooked?
I ate cooked sushi throughout my first pregnancy (shrimp tempura and a few with crab) and thank god I could because I love my sushi...although fried food might not be the healthiest for you, there's a lot of good things for you during pregnancy in fish low in mercury so I just told myself that every time I had some
Going to play devils advocate here and say if you are going to a good quality sushi place and you trust the quality of the fish, even raw is ok. It’s up to everyone’s own comfort level obviously, but it’s more about making sure you aren’t eating gas station sushi, honestly.
I'm with @burlapandlace I'd skip sushi at the gas station, but I had crudo (raw fish) right after I found out I was pregnant from a really nice place. Go with your comfort level.
@BurlapandLace oh yeah, I never do gas station sushi. There's this cute little place nearby called Mt. Fuji Steakhouse that I get sushi from all the time and I trust them! So glad to know I don't have to give up sushi
Funny this topic came up. I had my first apt yesterday and the doctor made a point to tell me even raw sushi is 100% fine a couple times a week while pregnant. He said that the chicken in America is more of a worry sometimes than good reputable raw sushi. Obviously, do what you feel comfortable with.. but I'm soooo happy to be able to have my sushi. I missed it so much with my first pregnancy! I think I may get some tonight lol.
