    I am probably the opposite of @krashke, I am glued to all the pregnancy rules and even some that are not really rules. I had a minor meltdown on Wednesday about an hour before my hair appt (which had been scheduled for seven weeks mind you). I usually have my roots touched up to cover grays and could not decide for the life of me whether I could accept the risk of the hair dye touching my skin, because every stinking article said "there's no evidence that hair dye causes harm, but maybe still don't do it, or get treatments that don't touch the skin, or use henna, or wait until after first tri". Jeeze. I even looked at the summary of a study comparing hairdressers to non-hairdressers which found no statistical difference between the babies born in the two groups. Despite all the evidence, those articles got to me, and I ended up only getting highlights, which my hair dresser thought was hella weird. I also want to say, I think people should make their own decisions about this stuff, and that I realize I am overly cautious. I read a book called Expecting Better at one point and it was great for breaking down the science and showing you how to make your own educated decisions on risk.

    Additional confession, I know two ladies IRL who are struggling with IF and who know we have had losses and testing and I don't want to tell them about my pregnancy this early. One of them is my hairdresser, which made my hair dye meltdown even worse because I didn't want to tell her why I was changing the routine I've had for six years.

    The last time I was pregnant, I ate soft cheese and smoked salmon, I used cleanser with salicylic acid, I drank an occasional half glass of beer, etc. All was well. I'm a bit more of a stickler about the "rules" in the first trimester, but after that, I find that surprisingly few of the traditional recommendations hold much weight, scientifically speaking. (Except for that whole cat litter thing, as discussed elsewhere. Scooping cat litter is definitely OFF LIMITS.  :p )

    @MoonOverGoldsboro I'm the same way! First trimester I'm pretty careful of following the "rules," but afterwards I use my discretion. I was craving turkey sandwiches like a mad woman when I was pregnant with DD and the day I finally let myself eat one was pure heaven

    @PatientlyWaiting10 definitely.  And in lurking theirs I know that they all lurk ours too ;)

    @basemodel +1 on that tip line, everywhere I get lunch now has that stupid line, even if I'm just going to pick up my food at the counter. It's so annoying. In that context I just want them to price their food so that I don't have to worry about a tip.
    @MoonOverGoldsboro I hope I can feel relaxed enough in second tri to loosen up some, especially about stuff as dumb as hair dye. I eat soft cheese, including brie, it's just all pasteurized. I also don't think a little booze (like one serving every now and again) is in any way harmful and especially later in pregnancy could be beneficial to relax a little. In Europe it's very common to do.
    @PatientlyWaiting10 Same!

    @zamora_spin I bet you will feel better as you get further along. The first trimester feels very tenuous, and I think it can be scary. When we get to the second tri, we'll have a toast with our extremely moderate servings of alcohol!

    @RatParade OMG that is hilarious.  Sorry to laugh at your misery, but seriously, thank you for sharing this with us!  P.S. - at least it was only a shart and not a full on s***!  Silver lining?

    @RatParade I'm so sorry!! This has happened to me once in public (maybe another time at home...). I was much younger, just getting over a stomach flu. On our way to a friend's birthday we stopped to get tacos. I legit shat my pants en route to the club. Had to go through the security line to get to any type of bathroom and try to clean up in the public restroom. I share all this with you, so you know you are not alone. It is the worst and it is SO uncomfortable.

    @RatParade I am so sorry, but I am literally CACKLING in my office. I am sorry you are going through this, but also thank you for this gift, because I’m slogging through grading papers and really needed this laugh.

    @RatParade I am cracking up over here, I really needed a pick me up :smile: I think we get to a certain point in life as moms where we learn to laugh at things like this instead of freaking out. It's only funny because I would totally see this happening to me!

    @krashke @zamora_spin I hate the "There's absolutely  no evidence that _______ is harmful during pregnancy but to be safe, pregnant women should avoid it."  This logic could be applied to anything. I like the articles on the Pregnant Chicken blog about "is it safe." She's snarky and straightforward about the real risks and evidence of the pregnancy "no nos." Here's her article on hair dye: https://pregnantchicken.com/is-it-safe-to-dye-hair-while-pregnant/

    My FFFC: I was POAS like a nutso this weekend after my faint early BFP. I was using the walmart .88 ones where you use a dropper. Today my 2 y.o. DS found a dropper with a few drops of pee still in it in the door of our car (why was it in the car? I think he may have put it there after finding in the bathroom trash is my best guess.) Anyways he says "mommy what's this?" He was sucking on it before I even had time to react. Noooooooo.

    @llamamama14 That an awesome resource! Yeah, the “oh it’s perfectly safe per science but also feel guilty if you do it” is so annoying.

    @llamamama14 you are not alone! I left a pee stick on the bathroom counter on two seperate occasions (because apparently I don't learn my lesson after the first time) and caught DD sucking on them. They were the type where the tip turns bright pink after it's been saturated enough, so I guess I can't really blame her

    Got back home late last night, dh is working the night shift, ds is asleep and I'm happily binging on Real Housewives. Letting dishes sit in the sink and laundry sit in the dryer and just enjoying some freaking silence.

    FFFC: I enjoy reality tv.

    I'm only 5-6 weeks along and still feel totally normal. But I milked it this morning for an extra hour of sleep, while my partner got up at the crack of dawn with our toddler. Sorrynotsorry.
