@offtoneverland The urge to POAS is strong, I totally get it. I have like 10 tests taped on a sheet of paper showing progression. I finally stopped testing yesterday.
My OB called today with my progesterone result and it came back low at 8.6. They want me to start progesterone suppositories tonight. I called my naturopath to see if I should stop taking the Vitex since I'm starting the progesterone, I doubt I should be taking both at once. I'm waiting to hear what she says, I trust her judgment.
It's funny that they think 8.6 is low since I have record of my progesterone when I was pregnant with DS and I have it written as 8.9 and they didn't have me take anything at all during my entire pregnancy with him. But after researching online, that number is really low so I am concerned. This whole process is so damn stressful amirite? I knew the anxiety wouldn't disappear after getting pregnant and I am trying to just be grateful for each day I am pregnant. That has helped immensely since seeing that first positive test... Today, I am pregnant.
@TravelingCouple The progesterone can't hurt, it's definitely a jury's still out type of thing on whether it helps. Smart to check with your naturopath on whether it is safe to use with Vitex. I use suppositories for mine, which may not raise your blood level of progesterone but allegedly helps to supply progesterone to the uterus, and also has fewer side effects. It sounds like you had a perfectly successful pregnancy with low progesterone before so you may just be one of those people who can get by with less. Also, yes, I too have taped pee sticks to paper... so, weirdest arts and crafts ever.
@catlady1215 I totally missed your update before! I'm so glad you got great news, YAY for heartbeat! @zamora_spin Yeah it definitely can't hurt so I'm all for it! It is a vaginal suppository.
Dude the app update BLOWS. I can't comment when I'm on the app or love tit and it doesn't show me new messages so I have to scroll through entire threads. Also, the ads every other post make me want to TP the person who created this app. Why does the TB suck at getting the app right?
@offtoneverland@LaceyBee522@marcus7676 I miss D.C. sooooo much! Go to the restaurant Centrolina if you can. So effing delicious. And I still dream of ramen from Daikaya. And egg sammies from A Baked Joint... ugh sometimes I wonder if we really should forget trying to move back to ca and instead move back to D.C. ...
@doxiemoxie212 when were you there? All those places that you named don't ring a bell so they all must be newer. I dream about Mama Ayeshas, Rasika, Komi and Blue Duck.
@TravelingCouple the app works fine for me but I can't use the website at all! I can't comment or like or see unread posts. Useless. I have no idea what happened.
@doxiemoxie212 Where do you go for ramen in NY? We have been going to Momofuku Noodle Bar for years. I know it isn’t the most traditional spot, but I love it. We have also made friends with all the staff, so it is like hanging with friends. If you haven’t been, I defs suggest checking it out sometime.
@izza2, I'm also super bitchy lately. There was a lady on the bus this morning with a voice like Janice from Friends, and she didn't shut up the entire time. I take a commuter bus, and usually everyone is silent. I really wanted to turn around and give her a dirty glare that early in the morning.
@offtoneverland, glad to hear you are feeling better today. I'm thinking about you.
@hollyyyy, lol to your urgent California roll situation!
@zamora_spin, oh the emotions! Glad YH is recognizing ways he can help you out.
@marcus7676, sorry you're feeling crappy. I agree with others to avoid sudafed, but try out Tylenol, a humidifier, and a neti-pot. And lots and lots of sleep when you can get it.
@doxiemoxie212, do we have the same in-laws? Mine also make things very complicated and dramatic. And my parents are similarly oblivious to the almost constant tension.
@ChloandCoco, like others, I'm also hoping that these HCG levels are just your normal.
@krashke, there is total truth to your theory. There is a professor at the institute I work at that studies using each person's "normal" levels for improved monitoring of biomarkers for cancer detection and response to treatment. It's likely one of the directions precision medicine will go (if we can convince doctors to change their ways).
@catlady1215, OMG! What a relief! And to hear a heartbeat? Amazing!
@TravelingCouple, Hoping the progesterone is not a problem for you. I was also on suppositories during TWWs, but haven't been taking them this cycle/pregnancy as I'm not convinced they are the answer for me. But I never had my progesterone levels checked (unless they were checked during my first pregnancy, but they never told me my results unless they needed to be acted on). But I hope they do the trick for you, and if you have questions about the suppository versions, let me know and I can see if I can help answer. And I'm also struggling with the app. I contacted TB support 3 times, and finally got an email back saying they are aware of the problem and trying to fix it. Oh well, hopefully sooner rather than later.
How far along are you? 5+1
How are you feeling? So nauseous. Even went home early because of it today (and because there was an opportunity to for once). Just kicked in starting Monday. And I haven't had a good night's sleep since my BFP. As much as these things suck, I am so happy that this (hopefully) means great things this time. I'll take it all.
GTKY: What are you craving right now? Other than the saltines and Jolly Ranchers that are all I feel like I can stomach ATM? Right now some cheesy chili fries sounds pretty good.
Me: 30 | DH: 31 Met: August 2006 Married: July 2012 TTC #1 since June 2016
@icecubeinthedesert lol at your saltines and jolly ranchers! Hopefully your nausea subsides soon or you can find something that helps you feel better. @doxiemoxie212 If you moved to DC we could hang out! (and now I sound like a super creeper!) I'm definitely going to try that ramen place you recommended. We tried a ramen restaurant in Maryland and it was terrible. It was my very first time going out for ramen so I was really disappointed. @LaceyBee522 DH and I are going to NYC in the first week of November so I'll look into the ramen place you suggested too! Do you ever go to Rice to Riches? It's one of my favorite places to eat in NYC. Love it!
@offtoneverland I have never been to Rice to Riches, but have walked past it a million times (twice last weekend, actualy). I will have to try it! I love rice pudding, I don’t know why I’ve never been.
@marcus7676 2012-2015. DH went to Georgetown law, and at first we haaaated D.C. because the law school is over sort of between union station and gallery place which was no mans land, but we looooved it by the end. They built up that area so much! Metro center is now this beautiful plaza with Centrolina and momofuku and fig & olive etc. ugh. And a baked joint is the sister location of baked and wired but focused more on bread than pastries. Nom nom nom. Blue Duck is def a star though. My office in D.C. was by there. Lurve. And obv founding farmers (and now they have a distillery!).
@LaceyBee522 I love the chickpea ramen at momofuku noodle bar. Jin Ramen's veg spicy miso is also pretty good, but not convenient anymore (we used to live uws but now are down in fidi). Nothing compares to Daikaya veg ramen though. I dream of it.
@doxiemoxie212 The chickpea ramen is my fave!! I get it almost every week (we go every Sunday for lunch and call it church). In a few weeks they will have the black truffle ramen back on the menu (winter only). It is so good. It uses the chickpea noodles and broth as it’s base. Worth a trip, if you like truffles. We will definitely check out Daikaya next time we are in DC. Thanks for the info!!
@doxiemoxie212 I went to American for law school but took one of the bar prep courses at Georgetown’s law school — way before the area was built up. I think everything started happening in the metro center area right after I left. I miss it so much! Did you guys live by the law school?
@marcus7676 yep on like New York ave and 5th street NW. When we moved in it was all vacant lots with feral cats and now it's this beautiful area with great restaurants and a soul cycle etc lol. If we moved back I think we'd want to live sort of over by American. I have such regrets about not buying a place in 2012 though! Like, we could've gotten such a nice row house for so little money, and now it would be worth baaaaank!
Ok so because the app is so horrific right now, I totally missed that this was a new thread and missed 75% of the posts until now, when I'm on my desktop! Sorry my last post is so out of place, ha.
@izza2 Glad you are feeling good! I'm glad you are advocating for yourself and getting betas checked @krashke Still no symptoms here really either. @offtoneverland I'm glad you are feeling positive! I am keeping @Hollyyyyy hahahaha, face hole @zamora_spin Yay for your solid beta! @marcus7676 I hope you feel better soon! I second the neti pot, I used that while pregnant with DS. Once you get past the weird factor, it actually feels oddly good and works. @doxiemoxie212 Sorry about the crappy trip @ChloandCoco More than doubling is great! Fx for a solid beta next Wed. Also, I had cramping in the first days I found out I was pregnant. And now I get them off and on. They feel different than AF cramps though. It's interesting how early things are already stretching and moving down there. @LaceyBee522 I have no appetite either. So I guess that's a symptom! I haven't been able to eat breakfast for days now, and that's usually my favorite meal. Also I'm calling my wee one Little Dot. Since that's how big it was when I first found out I was pregnant, according to my app @catlady1215 I know I posted before but I was all mixed up in my threads so I'm saying it again.. I'm so relieved for you that everything is ok! @icecubeinthedesert I've taken these suppositories before under the care of the RE. They had me on them after every treatment cycle. I never had any negative side effects, other than a disgusting mess. Pantyliners are a must. I hope you get a good night's sleep soon I've been tossing & turning a lot too!
How far along are you? 5 weeks + 3 days
How are you feeling? Good, started my progesterone suppositories last night. I haven't heard back from my acupuncturist yet about the Vitex so I called again this morning. She's usually on top of things My oldest and dearest friend and her fam are coming to visit this weekend. She knows I'm pregnant, she was the first person I called the morning I got my + .. well, after DH So I'm excited to spend this gorgeous weekend together!
GTKY: What are you craving right now? Nothing, actually. No cravings!
@doxiemoxie212 I interned in DC in the summers of 2001 and 2002 and used to park at a lot at 5th and K, which is a block from where you lived. When I was parking there, there was a group of homeless men that lived behind the DEA building on NY and 5th and I would get catcalled every single time I walked by. I think it cleaned up significantly by the time you moved there. I can’t imagine what it’s like now.
@catlady1215 Your comment was totally my life today. I had a scan, shaking the entire time with tears leaking but......there is was with a perfect heartbeat flicker!
Ok guys I did not know I was on the ttgp grad thread! Oops. I’m so sorry! Although I’ve kicked myself for not being more active on ttgp instead of lurking all day every day so I could join you guys! I think I posted once or twice but not enough to count. Again sorry for the thread confusion and I’m back to thread lurking.
*TW-loss* Hi guys, I'm out. Just got my HCG results (could hardly sleep all night waiting for them) and it was 32, which is only an increase of 6 over the last 48 hours (last results were 26). *TMI* I also started bleeding more yesterday with some clots. *end TMI* I haven't heard from the nurse/doctor yet of course since it's early morning, but I'm not sure if I'll hear from them during the weekend. I wish you all very sticky little beans and an uneventful 9 months! *end TW*
