Current challenges/concerns about being a STM+ or questions about things your children are going through now? How do I transition things like some books and baby blankets that are really too young for my daughter now into things that become the new baby's? Take them away slowly from her room and let them appear in the new baby's room in April?
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM: I got to see the baby dance at my ultrasound yesterday. Super fun! I didn't realize they move that much when they're still so tiny.
GTKY: Tell us about your favorite vacation. 2 weeks that I spent in Italy with my husband in 2012. We traveled all over the country and I hadn't taken a vacation that long since I was a kid (or since). It was super relaxing, gorgeous, and yummy!

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM+ or questions about things your children are going through now?
I feel bad for my kiddos cause I am so tired and fatigued. All outing have to be no longer than two hours or I will be near collapse.
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM:
Well, I am excited to possibly have my first "normal" birth experience. My first was born in the middle of an awful divorce, my second had a medical issue and she was life flighted within an hour of being born. I will be niceto not have that kind of stress.

we always go to the Jersey shore. I love it there! Beach, boardwalk and nobody is ever bored. I have traveled to other countries, but having my whole family together at the shore is the best.

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM+ or questions about things your children are going through now?
Still dealing with nausea, and now headaches and dizziness. Both girls currently have fevers and coughs/chest colds starting, too, so that's been the cherry on the shit sundae that's been my week.
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM:
The girls and I have had some amusing conversations regarding whether this will be a boy baby or girl baby, and what we should name it.
GTKY: Tell us about your favorite vacation.
In 2013, we did a big 2 week trip to Ireland, Edinburgh, London and Paris as a "last blast" before we started trying to have kids. It was amazing and I would LOVE to go back.

How old are your other kids? DD will be 3 in a couple weeks
Current challenges/concerns about being a STM+ or questions about things your children are going through now? DD wakes up between 2 and 4 almost every morning needing some mommy snuggles. I've tried ignoring, I've tried consoling, I've tried sending DH in, but nothing seems to help her sleep through the night without having my hair there to play with when she wakes up at the "witching hour". All attempts end with her screaming like a banshee. Anyone else have similar struggles who have some advice?
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM: Looking forward to DD loving on my belly and eventually talking to baby.

I am almost done weaning my DS. We have been trying since this summer, but he's always been so attached. Down to once at bedtime but I'm dreading pulling that away in a week or two. But my boobs want a break between kiddos!!
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM:
I'm so so excited for my ultrasound on Friday. And I can't wait to have a picture to show DS. Last night he rubbed my belly and "sang" night night to the baby! So freaking cute!!
GTKY: Tell us about your favorite vacation.
well it was actually by myself right out of college and I went to Denmark. Technically I was there for a research project helping a professor from school, but I had so much down time and just got to ride a bike through the streets of Copenhagen and eat pastries and drink lattes...so enjoyable!

Potty Training. I've complained about it on other posts so I won't beat a dead, pooping horse.
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM:
This 1st trimester has been the most physically difficult of all 3 of my pregnancies but having the girls be able to entertain each other has been SO helpful. So much better than last time, when I had an only child still expecting 100% of my attention when I was dealing with 1st tri misery.

That's so hard! We've traveled quite a bit. I would love to go back to Japan but I usually daydream about going back to Tahiti.
@sandbar517 I love Edinburgh and London, too! I felt like I needed way more time in both places, especially London. The food there was incredible... I'm hungry so that's all I can think about now. Did you try black pudding in Scotland? I actually kind of liked it. And I've never had mussels so delicious since.

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM+ or questions about things your children are going through now?
Only concern is how I'm going to do drop offs and pick ups at school with a newborn. My morning commute from leaving the house to the kid's schools (they go to different private schools) and back home totals an hour and a half.
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM:
I am so excited for my next ultrasound so I can bring the girls with. I am excited about having a cuddly little baby again and I know my 4 year old is going to be such a good helper.

How old are your other kids? 16 month old DS
Current challenges/concerns about being a STM+ or questions about things your children are going through now? Same old same old, dude will not stay asleep. He hates having any blanket or sheet touching him but it's getting cold and even though his room is right next to ours, the disparity in the temps, especially in winter, is shocking, especially for a 2 year old house. He needs a blanket or sleep sack because otherwise he wakes up because he's cold, but with either of those on him, he wakes up because something is touching him and it makes him mad/panic. Long winter ahead.
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM: DS's vocabulary is growing every day so I'm excited about being able to communicate to him more about the baby. Nothing will make any sense until after the baby is here and it's obvious that the new little isn't going anywhere, but oh well
GTKY: Tell us about your favorite vacation. I did a study abroad in a village outside of Grantham, England when I was in college for 4 or 5 months. That was basically like one big vacation. Taking my husband back on a UK and Ireland tour for 10 days was probably the best actual vacation. It was nice that we got to go together and nice for me to be able to go back and relive some of my study travels

How old are your other kids? DS is 3.5
Current challenges/concerns about being a STM+ or questions about things your children are going through now? Just the idea of how we are going to handle two. I am already mentally playing out how maternity leave will go with getting DS to school, etc. I am trying to not think about it too much because sometimes it seems overwhelming. I also need to find daycare for this baby.
Also, DS is not liking the idea of moving rooms. Any thoughts on this? I honestly don't want to switch the furniture around because it means taking the crib apart and I think DH might divorce me if I ask him to do that. (kidding, but he HATED putting the crib together and he's already had to do it twice because we moved.)
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM: DS is coming around about the baby. Our nephew asked DS if he wanted to be his brother and DS said "No. Because I am getting a brother." (we don't know the sex of the baby yet.) So at least we are moving past the wanting to throw the baby in the trash phase. And DS said that he wants the baby at his birthday party, which is good, since LO will arrive about 2 weeks before DS turns 4.
GTKY: Tell us about your favorite vacation. It was probably when DH and I did our British Isles cruise. We had the best time exploring cities that we had both never been to
@maplemom18 I would love to do a trip to Italy. I think it is going to have to wait for awhile now, but it is on my list.
@lady_mormont18 FX for a healthy and smooth delivery for you
@sandbar517 we took our trip while we were TTC. It was our "let's do this now or we won't for a long time" trip
@zizzabell523 yikes! Have you tried an "Ok to wake" clock?
@k5678 I enjoy each new stage as well. I love seeing how much they learn and the little people they are becoming
@theletlers that's so cute! DS asks to see the picture of the baby sometimes and I keep the ultrasound on my phone so I can show him
@MissusTexas I want to go to Tahiti so bad and stay in one of those over the water huts.
@tacosandvirginmargaritas I'm with you. Drop off is already rough with just one. I am so nervous about adding in another baby and another drop off location.

I know this is the nausea talking but I am rethinking wanting more kids after this. We’ve always talked about wanting 3 or 4 but I am not feeling that right now
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM:
My son is the sweetest kid. He is a mama’s boy but I know once he gets over the jealousy that he will be such a wonderful big brother. Also on the beach today there was a family with 2 kids who amused each other while the parents relaxed. I am looking forward to DS having a playmate!
GTKY: Tell us about your favorite vacation.
I’ve been to London twice and both were great. The first one was with a close friend and it was amazing because I had always wanted to go and was finally there. She loved it as much as I did which made it fun. Second time was with DH. It was fun to show him around and have a bit of a sense of direction since I had been there before. We then visited friends in Zurich after which was so fun.

DS started at an actual daycare facility this school year. He was at an in home care daycare before (since 4 months old). He started in August and still cries every morning when I leave for work. It's heat breaking walking away as your child cries for you!

I got DS up about 5-10 minutes early this morning. I just got him out of bed and rocked him for awhile. I love that boy so much!

After my bleeding incident, my OB told me to take it easy including how much I pick up my son. I am isuallly the one to put him to bed. It takes a lot out of me just to carry him up the stairs and put him in his crib (which he hates when I try to set him in on his feet and wants me to just lay him down). I'm wondering how long I'm even going to be able to put him to bed like this before my husband has to take over. It's one of the moments I enjoy most and don't want my husband to take over.
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM:
We went to our friends house last Friday and their three kids were all playing together. My son wanted to play by himself by the grown ups. I can't wait until he has someone to play with all the time like they do.

My 16mo is in the hit/kick/throw/scream phase and it's exhausting. Totally concerned on how I'm going to handle him and the new baby, especially if he doesn't start sttn soon.
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM:
I was really struggling with my 16mo the other morning, I only had 3hrs sleep. He was screaming at me in the bathroom so 6yo took him. She put him in his high chair and made him oatmeal for breakfast. Such a huge help before DH got home from work like 20 minutes later.

I’ve been trying to wean but the little man just cut all 4 molars in about 3 weeks so he has wanted to nurse even more than usual particularly in the middle of the night. It’s been real fun over at our house. I really really really want a nursing break in between babies.
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM:
At the store today we passed by a baby and I asked my son if he saw the baby. He looked at her then turned and touched my stomach. I can not wait to watch him interact with his sibling.

My husband and I went to Montego Bay, Jamaica and stayed at a Sandals. It was amazing and he proposed while we were there.
How old are your other kids? 2 weeks from 2yo!
Current challenges/concerns about being a STM+ or questions about things your children are going through now? DD has been more "independent" this week regarding everything. She just happily replies "no" to diaper change, nap, eating, going inside and smiles and keeps doing what she wants. And I give her plenty transition time.... she's never been this resistant. I'm tired of being patient!!
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM: DD is a sweetheart to her core. I love her hugs and monkey grooming habits (she loves my hair).
GTKY: Tell us about your favorite vacation. Honeymoon to New Zealand. 3 weeks in a rental just driving around, doing random things by following road signs, meeting other travelers and locals.... it was a blast. Hot Water Beach (where you dig a hole that fills up w thermal water during 2-4 hour low tide) at midnight with no one else there... so amazing. Beautiful.
@zizzabell523 we are cry it out parents (unless she is sick, then all bets are off)... so every sleep regression we let her cry it out. Takes 3 days tops (She never cried over an hour even for the first time). I think we sleep trained the first time at 9 months, maybe 12months? Nap training didn't occur until 20 months bc I just loved rocking her. But it's not for everyone and every child is different. I will say... we sleep through every night since sleep training and it is glorious! Our attachment seems healthy as well (I know that was a big concern for me before I started).

Well if this last molar could come through that'd be great...
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM:
I went to a La Leche League meeting today and he was fascinated with the babies that were there. He kept trying to talk to them from a distance and pointed when they were nursing. He's still nursing twice a day, so it was cool to see him recognize that. I think he's starting to warm up to the idea of having a baby around.
GTKY: Tell us about your favorite vacation.
It's a tie between the weekend SO and I spent together in NOLA for a half marathon I was doing, and when the three of us stayed at Treasure Island a couple years ago when J was just a couple months old. We're planning to go back again this year on Easter, so I guess that was technically my favorite?
Nola was great because we had just recently gotten engaged and we spent the entire time just asking in each other's company. We also had the best French onion soup of our entire lives there!
Treasure Island was amazing because the beach was beautiful. We ordered room service for every meal, spent time in the pool, and J was still young enough that he slept most of the time. I'm looking forward to going back so he can play in the sand and get thrown to the sharks

Dominican Republic was by far the best vacation ever. DH and I went on our honeymoon and still dream about going back.
@zizzabell523. I absolutely get it. No kid or parent is the same, so I don't think one thing will work for all kids. For example, we tried the Ferber method first since it seemed more loving, but that messed w DD's head big time. I swear it's the luck of the draw. I wish you all the luck finding what works for you and your LO!!
@ivyvines6 I'm so glad it worked for you and your family! For us, it was the "touchdown" moment of body on crib mattress that was destroying us... fast to sleep but then forever to get to lay down and stay down.

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM+ or questions about things your children are going through now? Current challenge: we're trying to cut out a lot of TV, for all our sakes, and I'm having such a hard time getting things done without my free babysitter (aka, tv screen). But I hope it will help us not use it so much as a crutch once baby #2 shows up!
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM: current joy: my boy is just really starting to show the sweetest personality, he loves clapping and yelling "yayyyy" when he does something good, he's starting to color with crayons and not just eat them, his speaking voice is starting to turn into more then just babbles. Just having a newborn to snuggle again.
GTKY: Tell us about your favorite vacation.
We love to travel so it’s hard to pick but I’d have to go with our trip to Japan. Six cities plus a couple day trips. We slept in a traditional hut with a family (who cooked us the most amazing meals) in a secluded valley, stayed in a Buddhist temple on top of a sacred mountain, rode bikes through the most amazing little town where I want to live some day, spent 5 nights in Tokyo and barely scratched the surface, visited Hiroshima and saw a Carps baseball game, etc etc. Ate the best food I’ve ever had. Cannot wait to go back again soon.
My pediatrician recommends Ferber at 6mo so with this little one we will definitely be doing it at that time.
