Weekly/Daily Threads Poll

edited October 2017 in May 2018 Moms
We were discussing in the FFFC of a way to reorganize the board. If anyone would like to add options we didn't think of, feel free. I assumed we would keep the randoms the same unless people want to switch up the randoms as well. I also feel like I was super wordy with this poll so ask questions if it's confusing!

  • Are daily whole board check ins the randoms thread?
  • @cups4 no this would be in addition to randoms. Daily whole board check ins would be specifically for pregnancy check ins.
  • I'm not entirely sure how the daily whole board check ins would work.  Would they be replacing any of the current weekly ones?  Symptoms, etc?
  • @fraufarbissina they would be replacing the ticker changes only at this point so they would have questions about how far along, how are you feeling, questions, etc. If you choose both daily check-ins and weekly check-ins, the weekly check-ins would be specific for how far along you are and daily would just be a whole board. The talk in FFFC was concerning we weren't getting to know everyone on the board and that the ticker changes weren't allowing us to connect with people who are close to us in pregnancy.

My personal opinion is both daily and weekly check ins are redundant but some people saw the benefit of doing both so that's why there are all those options.

Also adding I think we should leave this poll until tomorrow morning since it's Friday I want to give everyone enough time to see it.

Or do we think we should wait longer? Or am I overthinking?
  • Dailies would be kind of like the ticker change thread. A how are you feeling, what week are you, GTKY type thread. As, I think it was @sandbar517 who mentioned, TTGP does daily Waiting to O and Two Week Wait threads, the questions stay the same except the GTKY: (I just stole this from their waiting to O from today)
    Month/Cycle:
    CD:
WAYDTGKU: (what are you doing to get knocked up)
    R/R: (rants and raves)
    CS/Q:(chart stalk/questions)
GTKY: You have guests coming over for dinner in an hour, what do you make?

Weekly Randoms would still be there for all our random craziness, pregnancy related or not.

Does anyone actually read anything on this board besides the twenty or so regulars? I think that's the real question here...

I'd just leave it til Sunday or Monday, whenever we decide to start these weekly things.
  • @ivyvines6 I read everything but don’t comment on tons, but that’s just me in real life. I’m not a super huge talker.
You comment all the time, what are you talking about?
  • For board clean up, is there a way to delete individual threads started with only a few comments as it is later realized there is a different/structured way to post? It seems like there are so many threads now....just a thought! But if not no worries.
  • @babys_2018 no you can’t delete. But if no one else comments on them they get pushed down and eventually die.
  • My last bmb had daily check-ins. It was nice to have a place to regularly post if needed or skip a few days if you got busy. Typically the check-ins were something like this:
    How far along are you?

    Rants/raves/symptoms?

What are you doing to prepare for baby?

    Questions?

GTKY: What is the most recent good book you've read?

I think it's fair to go until Sunday and start fresh on Monday with the results.
  • Love the idea of both a weekly "week" checking ( Love checking in with all the ladies who are about as far along as me). I personally really like the idea of a daily whole board, too. I miss that about TTGP, where I would chat with everyone daily in one place. In the end there may only be 20 or so of us using that board, but that makes it all the better. Those of us who choose to put in the time will get closer to one another. <3

  • I like the idea of doing the threads by week.  That was one thing I didn't like about the oct 15 boards.  It seemed like everyone in my ticker change group were three weeks ahead of me.  Gave me something to look forward to, but I like being able to relate with those due around the same time.
  • Pro week threads!!!

Can we also add a thread about "mental health".  I have an irrational fear about starting threads though so I am hoping someone else will....perhaps it's my anxiety disorder.  But I really think there should be a thread about this because it goes beyond symptoms.
    TW-LOSS
I have generalized anxiety disorder which went away and then reemerged after I suffered PTSD from my multiple  losses last year. It would be great to connect with other ladies that are going through pregnancy with anxiety.
I would be down with a weekly check in for that. I have ptsd from J's pregnancy and birth, and I had depression for the better part of a decade. While ptsd is pretty well managed right now, it rears its head at the worst and inconvenient of times.
  • As the day comes to a close I'm going to say it looks like the majority wants weekly check ins only. I was looking at the calendar and thinking, we technically have 5 separate weeks of pregnancy on this board. Are we looking at 5 separate weekly threads or do we want to combine them down somehow to 2 or 3?

I also want to mention that if we plan on starting them on Mondays I probably won't be the one to start them even though I kind of took the lead on this poll. Work prevents me from bumping a lot during the week. I like to think they can just be started by whomever wants to jump in first.
I vote five. I also hate starting threads so... Not it!
  • I also vote for 5. Perhaps someone can start all 5 tomorrow and then each group and figure out who will post weekly from then on.
I don't know what to put in a new post, but I can help get them started if I get some direction
  • Are we going to keep ticker changes or are these replacing them?
  • If we start tomorrow I think it'll be 8,9,10,11, and 12 weeks roughly. And of course people are free to flow about. I don't think we'll be all "you can't sit here" lol
Ok so people will have to decide where the best fit if they fall in between weeks.
What are we calling these posts "Weekly Check In - # weeks" ?

Yeah, that sounds good to me :)
  • @mileswithmyles I like the ticker changes (fellow Monday-er ;) ) staying in addition to the weekly check in, but I think those have been axed if I’m reading poll results correctly?

  • @silverhope that’s what I wanted to clarify.
  • I've got no problem with Ticker changes and weekly check ins. Maybe try both for a couple weeks and decide to drop one from there?
  • Sounds good to me. That way if people want to start them, they can.
