Monday B*tchfest/ Magnificent Monday

Whichever way your day goes....but let's get real. It's Monday :/

Re: Monday B*tchfest/ Magnificent Monday

  • Normally I try to be sunshine and rainbows no matter the day of the week but I have been sleeping like CRAP on and off for a couple of months but haven't had a good nights sleep consecutively for a about a week now....until last night. I didn't get in bed until about 10:30 (which is super late for me) but I slept like a rock and only got up to pee once. Evidently the world hates me though because I slept through my alarm by an hour and have approximately 30 minutes to get ready for work, let the dog out, and fix lunches.

  • MM - I think we're finally through DD's 18 month sleep regression...3 nights in a row with no wakeups. Woohoo!!!

MBF - it's a very Monday feeling Monday. DH and I host events for out apartment community in exchangenfor a prorated rent, and we have a huge event coming up this weekend. Of course, I do all the planning since I'm at home, but omg there are just way too many details for this one. I already told our management that we were going to be massively scaling back events for November - January, but I actually have to survive October's crazy schedule first...
  • MBF: 8 am doctors appts before work...so freaking tired

MM: since most schools have off for Columbus Day, there was very little traffic this morning!!  My favorite kinda days

  • MBF for me: we went away for the weekend, which was awesome, but sleeping in the hotel room bed was awful! I couldn't get comfortable all night, both nights, so I was so happy to be back in my own bed last night... it was the worst nights sleep I've had this pregnancy so far!! Cue the coffee maker and heat pad for my back!!
  • MM: I went to sleep at 8:30 last night. No one woke me up - not my husband getting home from work, the dogs barking at him, the dog that has bronchitis and coughs all.the.time. and not the toddler. ALSO while I, too, am not a fan of Columbus Day (Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day!) I am a fan of the lack of traffic I had this morning on my way to work. Woot.

MBF: Well, it's Monday and the week is over. I have a really stupid meeting that I have to sit in on that is going to be a big waste of my day. It's at lunchtime yet no lunch is provided. Womp.

  • Yeah along with lots of you, my MBF is just that fact that it's Monday. Also my father called me on Saturday and I'm still stewing over some of the crap he said. Oh, and the fact that now he's postponed his Thailand trip so he'll be coming to both my baby shower AND meeting the baby after birth. He's a narcissist so he's totally only doing this because he wants to prove he's such a good guy and family man (lol, nope).

I guess the MM is that him calling solved my dilemma of how to tell him he needs to get vaccinated. (He's a 'hippie' [actually I think calling him that is an insult to hippies, just can't think of another word]--he goes to a naturopath and he has prostate cancer which he did have some surgery for but he's decided to just fight it by eating fish and vegetables, basically.) He even mentioned that when he started getting the flu shot like five years ago he asked his naturopath if she recommended it before he was willing to get it.

  • Monday's bitch - my MIL lectured me on my choice of ballet style shoes twice today. Apparently I'm getting heavier (thanks) and need to be wearing running shoes with arch supports.
I don't need anyone's advice. For my activity my choice of footwear today was fine...

  • MM- it's a holiday and we all have the day off so we are having thanksgiving dinner today.

MBF- DS is cranky AF today and irritating the crap out of me. And DH just looks at me like "what are you going to do about It?"

  • @failuretofly my DH is the same! I don't know why he can't try to calm the kid. Ugh.
  • @djd0404 yay for annoying coworkers being out of the office! Mine just started working from home on Fridays and it's the best ever. Her most annoying habit is having her phone at full volume. She texts constantly and each time a message comes in or goes out, I hear this really loud "ding ding" noise - a sound which now haunts my dreams because it's so irritating. She just started a few months ago so at first I didn't want to say anything and sound like a major B, and now I'm only looking at 7 more weeks at my desk, so I'm just going to suck it up. I am a wimp.

  • MM: My boss is back.  Things are just better when he's in office, rather than across the country. Shit gets done, there's less of a lag for getting answers/feedback, people seem a bit less worried about the general uncertainty about the company's funding/future/direction.

MM: I feel clear-headed and rested for the first time in forever. I might actually get something done today other than Bumping and occupying space.

MBF: I think I am allergic to Fall this year? Usually this is when my sinuses finally clear out for a little while, but I have been sneezing my face off all morning.  Environment doesn't matter, since it was at home, in the car and now at work.  (Minor MM: Apparently walking fixes everything, including my pelvic floor, because I have been sneezing and NOT snissing.)

@jlemons-2 it's not so much he *can't* calm him, he just doesn't care. The crying/whining doesn't bother him... like... at all. And I mean, it usually doesn't grate on me too bad but after working 12 hours yesterday I'm just a little cranky myself so it's extra irritating, and DH knows it, which is why he looks at me like... If it bothers you do something about it.
I actually WISH I could be as chill as DH, but sometimes it's like.. okay dude, time to get serious.

  • MBF is the pets. The cat peed in my bathtub. The dog watched him do it, then went and peed on the rug. ARRRGH

MM: my students are on fall break, so I took the day off to have a day with DD. We went on a walk with our neighbors and then I took DD to the grocery store and the floral dept lady gave her a balloon. She ate a good lunch and is now sleeping.

MBF: I think DD has a cold. Gunky nose, sneezing, a little coughing. She just got over an ear infection, and I really don't want a relapse, especially because if she has 2 within 30 days, they consider it the same infection, and she needs one more separate infection in 3 months to get tubes. If she is going to keep getting the infections, I'd rather her get the tubes to clear them up, but if she has a relapse, it won't "count" towards her total and she'll just be miserable again. :(

  • MM- finally got a few decent hours of sleep on the couch propped up :-/ im going to try to go out and buy a pillow or two to help me out these last 7 weeks :-)

MM #2- i made a comment about how i wanted to buy the peek a boo elephant for baby girl and my sister texted me this morning asking me if it was the right one!!! Im super excited. I know she wont use it for a tiny bit but i feel spoiled a little!!!

  • MBF - I woke up to the smell of smoke all through my house and came to discover that there are MASSIVE wildfires all over Northern California not far from where we just moved. Scary, to say the least. Then my contractor called us, and said that he and his wife had to be evacuated due to said fire, and he doesn’t know when he’ll be coming back to finish our kitchen. Which is about 6 days from being finished. I’m so sad for everyone who’s houses and businesses are destroyed, my heart is breaking for them. This is just terrible all around and I’m in a state of shock and anxiety today. I’ll be trying to stay calm (and indoors) while watching shorty reality tv to keep my mind occupied.

MM: i officially start working from home in less than a month!  11/6 can't come fast enough!  And DH sent me a picture that he put the shelves up in the play room!! My to do list text to him last night worked!!

MBF: I got caught in the rain without an umbrella on my lunch break and I'm soaked.

MM- We had a really busy weekend trunk or treating and going to an orchard so today I get to relax! It's so nice after 3 days of walking non stop!

MBF- My DD has been throwing the biggest gits in public and just screeches at the top of her lungs. She's also been very whiny so my relaxing day has ended up mostly dealing with the terrible twos!

MBF- I'm so tired of dealing with people's opinion on our baby name. Most of the people who have expressed their opinion on it have chosen more "unique" names for their kids too. I'll name him whatever I'd like but thanks. We've also heard a lot of opinions on how we aren't letting my Mil and Sil see the new baby. They haven't even tried to see my daughter for 2 years and they live in the same town as us. Sometimes I wish people knew how to mind their own business!
  • @kimbo2015 I feel like people will never keep their opinions--especially about family dynamics--to themselves. DH & I also won't be involving my MIL & SIL in baby's life and even my FIL (who should absolutely know better) loves to give us his 2 cents. It's infuriating... we're two adults making healthy decisions for our family. Thank-you-and-good-day.

  • @kimbo2015 I am sorry to hear people are sharing unsolicited opinions on your chosen name. Not sure why people think that is appropriate at all, like you haven't spent time really thinking about it or you intentionally picked something 'bad'. Ugh!

  • MM - today was a holiday for me so we checked some stuff off the to-do list including getting a rocker recliner! The nursery feels so empty I'm excited about any new gear to put in there, but I was really disliking all the chairs at buy buy baby so I got a la-z-boy. Checking stuff off the list is my drug.

MBF - Apparently people have been getting broken into around our place. We rent a house on my parents farm so we are going to start closing the gate at night to hopefully keep lookers away. I'm ok with the gate closing but DH is traveling for work tomorrow through thursday so I will be home alone and I'm naturally prone to anxiety.

  • @breezybee Prayers and FX you don't have to evacuate and that they contain the fire soon. I'm sure this is less important, but I hate that you were so close to getting your kitchen completed. Hopefully, this will just be a small delay.
  • Thanks guys. No evacuation for us yet thankfully. But we have so many friends and family who’s homes have been absolutely destroyed. I’m staying inside so I don’t inhale any smoke. The air quality is terrible right now and it’s raining ash.
We’ve got a line on a couple of contractors to finish, but honestly, things could be so much worse.
  • @breezybee thinking of you!

  • Still so shitty @Marley629!  I’m confined to my house because the air outside is so toxic right now and the fires re nowhere near contained. I’m fact, they’re combining and getting worse. I just feel bad for everyone being evacuated and losing their homes.  We’re still in the clear, though. Let’s hope it stays that way.
