Positive ffn?

I don't know if there is already a post on this topic, but i couldn't find anything.  Has anyone had a positive ffn? What did your doctor recommend to do?

I did with DD at 32 weeks due to early contractions. I was placed on modified bedrest until about 37 weeks when I was considered full term. She came at 38 weeks. I was told a negative test is more reliable ruling out preterm labor than a positive test is at predicting it

I did last week. I had two steroid shots for lung development to be safe. I am not on bed rest as my doctor does not think that it helps stop labor, but I am supposed to take it easy, drink lots of water and try and rest. My doctor said a negative is more reliable than a positive, and there are many false positives with this test. If my contractions pick up again I need to go back into the hospital right away, so far they haven't so I'm cautiously optimistic!

CShoreCindydisneyfan0511! I was having contractions at 22 weeks and they did the ffn test, but my result was negative. Take it easy. I know I tried to limit movement at that time because any amount of pain or movement seemed to trigger a contraction for me. That was probably because my issue was a large degenerating fibroid on my uterus. Hoping that your babies are able to hold on for a little longer!

@CShoreCindy I had a positive ffn early on with my first pregnancy, but like the other posters have said, that result is pretty useless; the doctor said that a positive result translates to "yep, sometime in the next 3 months, you're gonna have a baby". It is not a clear indicator that labor is imminent.; only a negative result really gives any actionable info, because it shows that no babies are arriving anytime soon   Did they prescribe you any medication for the contractions?

I never have, but from what I've heard it isn't very helpful in determining if you actually will go early. Why did you get the test?

They tested because my cervical length went from 3.3 to 2.5 and I have been having lots of contractions.

They told me I didn't need to be on bedrest, but all the docs ive talked to seem to think i wont make it to 37 weeks.

They gave me procardia to use as needed.

I also got the steroid shots last week.
