Symptoms, Questions, Concerns - Week of 10/2

Thought I'd kick off a new thread since the last one's a few weeks old and several pages long.

Re: Symptoms, Questions, Concerns - Week of 10/2

  • Now that summer is finally over and the humidity has decreased significantly here in CT, my nose has dried out like crazy and I've started getting nose bleeds. Anyone else having the same problem?
  • Loading the player...
  • @leilagphillips  Nosebleeds were actually my very first pregnancy symptom! About a week before I even took the test I got my first bodacious nosebleed in probably 20 years.  It's been off and on ever since and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.  I could probably run the humidifier at night buuuuuut I'm too lazy.
  • @elcd458 I also got a couple of them really early on in my pregnancy, but then with the humidity of summer they went away until now. I should probably get a humidifier...
  • @leilagphillips same thing here in Southern CA. The air is dry and cold at night and I've had this burning sensation in my nose lately. Like @elcd458 said I could run the humidifier but I'm lazy too.

Anyone just have all over belly pain? Like everything is just stretched to the limit? Things are being pushed up and out and Im over it  :|
  • Second getting the humidifier. It makes a big difference.
  • @sjis I also have been getting the stretching belly pain. Not all the time, but pretty frequently. It's definitely the worst when I eat too much though.

@kyrwyn Some of their kicks are still cute, but some are not... especially the bladder shots! I also can't always tell if what I'm feeling are uncomfortable kicks or some form of RLP. I also have been feeling more rolling movements lately which I find a little unnerving.
  • Im finding that my baby movements are getting cushioned, thats the only way i can explain it. Im hoping my placenta hasn't moved as her kicks were always super strong so i have a feeling that is what it is. I have a growth ultrasound next Tuesday. I still feel her multiple times per day and getting my kick counts but everything feels muffled in the front. When she lays on my sides i can feel all the stretched and rolls but if shes in front i can still get kicks but their faint like shes punching or kicking something in her way :-(
  • I've had the runs for the last couple of days.  Not continually but once or twice a day it comes out all watery.  It's a big switch after 7 months of constipation.  I googled it and it 'may be a sign of labor but don't assume that you will go into preterm labor'.  Thanks for nothing google.  I guess I'm just going to focus on it not being unusual in 3rd trimester and not assume it means anything more than that.

@andipandicWed121369 I've been bouncing between constipated and very not constipated for weeks now. I know part if it is just because LO is using my intestines as a mattress right now, but I found adjusting my diet helped a lot. Eating more fiber rich foods (even with the runs, just pairing it with things like cheese or bananas that will help solidify everything) and cutting wayyy back on sweets and processed foods is the biggest contributing factor to keeping me regular. However, if you are having issues along with stomach cramps or back pain, always call your doctor, even if it's just to be on the safe side!

Also, I remember with DD having a seriously jacked up stomach for a few weeks before labor. It's like your body is trying to clean out before baby comes. As you get closer to your EDD, try eating small, light meals more often  (yogurt, soup, salad, etc). It will make you feel better and hopefully help keep you from pooping too much on the delivery table when labor gets here!

Edited because I forgot a word...
  • I always have either constipation or diarrhea. It sucks.
  • @kyrwyn baby movements definitely get less magical as time goes on--jabs to the ribs, bladder, cervix, etc. This is why mamas are like, "GET OUT!!!" towards the end. :)

  • @sjis I often feel stretched thin, especially at the top of my stomach, and it's usually worse when I'm standing up. Sometimes I feel like I have to bend forward a tiny bit to get the pressure off... It's bizzare and then when I'm standing there feeling like i'm about to pop LO will move around and like @kyrwyn Its not super comfortable. I'd say 30% of the movements now are not 'fun'; and there's still so much to go. I love feeling him move but It feels like I've still got a long way to go...

  • @andipandicWed121369 same here - I'm pretty sure I have rotavirus though as DS just had it as well.  I hope this isn't a new pregnancy symptom.  I've been working from home the last two days because of it. Too many close calls!

  • Two things I've really noticed lately: I'm (still) so emo all the time, much of it revolving around DS. I'm guessing this is normal end-of-pregnancy, "what-have-I-done-to-my-firstborn?" emotions but, wow. I've been so weepy after dropping him off at school so far this year, how big he's getting, and just thinking about how his world is going to change soon. And I'm also super weepy/irritable/angry about current events, the weather, everything.

I've also noticed lately, when I'm sleeping and try to roll over, sometimes I get really intense pain along the sides of my belly. Not cramp or contraction-like at all, but like muscle pulling, and it freakin hurts! Feel like I need slings and scaffolding just to move around at night, and I'm not even 30 weeks yet!

  • Today I feel like a blimp. I am waddling and have pelvic pressure. I am slow to say the least. My hemorrhoids finally calmed down so that’s good. BP is up but finally getting controlled by meds. And I’m tired, really tired. Baby movements are painful at times but still love feeling her. I think they’re the most uncomfortable when she rolls.

  • So...this weekend I got my first hemorrhoid, can't stop peeing and my ankles have started to swell. It's funny because I have very boney ankles so my SO said now my ankles look normal  :D
  • @elcd458 Hahahaha that killed me. But I'm sorry the weather isn't cooperating!

Had some super wince-worthy kicks on my lunch break today, so that was fun. Also my glucose test is at 3:15 and my OB said not to eat anything after 1:15. Normally going two hours after lunch without eating would be fine, but of course since I know I'm not allowed to eat, I want to eat alllll the things...

  • @elcd458 100% agree...I made the mistake of having lunch with a friend outside. I'm now sunburnt. WTF NC weather?
  • @clovelyone that sucks. Mine were and this weekend. I was blessed with 2. I went and bought the women’s preparation h wipes (with witch hazel). It helped so much! They are gone today but I’m constipated so I’m sure I’ll pop them back

  • In the waiting room at the OB and just had a massive dizzy spell and hot flash and my ears like plugged up during it. So that was fun and terrifying.

  • @dkizz82 I’m not sure! My BP runs on the low end and when they checked it was higher than my last appt. I’m waiting for my one hour draw and I’m wondering if maybe they’ll find that I’m anemic. Or maybe my sugars will be all out of whack and I’ll need to take the 3-hour.

  • @leilagphillips - I haven't had nosebleeds, but I've worked up really dry/crusty (sorry... i know it's gross...but isn't that what this thread is for??)

@kyrwyn - yes!  Her jabs now feel more like they are hitting organs.  The other day she kept laying on something that was making it super uncomfortable for me.  I'd lay on my side and she'd move and I'd feel fine, but after like an hour of sitting, she'd move back to whatever uncomfortable position again.

@andipandicWed121369 - Well that's totally unhelpful advice, Google!

  • Help!  I am not sure if this is a pregnancy related thing or what but its really bothering me and if it doesn't get better I guess I need to decide between going to OB or PCP?  In my right ear and on that same side of my face I have these bumps... I cannot tell if they are hives or bug bites or a rash what. They itch like the dickens. They first showed up Tuesday morning (yesterday), and you really can't see them but can feel them. I have been a little soothed by a q-tip with hot water for inside my ear, and by hydrocortizone on my face. I haven't put the hydrocortizone in my ear bc i am generally opposed to putting stuff in my ear, including q-tips normally. Tonight I tried to wash super good in the shower, and its an hour later now and i think i just made it angry.

Any tips to soothe, or on which doctor to call?

  • @kln62689 I've been having something similar going on this week. My husband came home from camping and asked if I got stung by some bees or what. I've been taking benadryl to sleep at night because laying down on it isn't comfortable. I haven't checked with a doc yet but it's getting pretty irritating. I was looking online at Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP) and thinking maybe it might be that. Hope you get some answers/relief. I have been calling my OB office first and talk to a nurse on call and they tell me who I need to be seen by.
  • @kersey0208 thank you! I will look up PUPPP and call my OB in the morning. I hope you get some relief soon!

  • Idk If this is a pregnancy symptom or if i over did it moving but I literally can't walk without being in tears right now - it feels like my groin muscles are tearing every time I try to walk.  Forget stairs -  what the heck.

  • @Marley629 that started happening to me around 16 weeks.  The only thing that helps me is wearing a pregnancy support belt.  Otherwise, the pain is unbearable.   :#

  • @Marley629 mine isn’t quite as bad- but they are really sore. I was thinking maybe I overdid it in dance class... but really I didn’t do anything unusual. It’s uncomfortable stepping into pants
  • For me, it's not my groin but my lower back...omg I could barely get out of bed this morning and DD keeps wanting me to pick her up and carry her around  :'(
  • @Marley629 I have something similar but not to that extreme. Every time I get up to walk I feel like I've just spent hours horseback riding. My whole groin area and inner thighs are just so sore! I guess it's everything stretching? I'm sorry you are having such a bad case of it :(

  • Thanks ladies. I think I def over did it between moving this past weekend and then bartending the past two nights (which last night was my last shift for awhile!) which didn't help.  I'll take it easy today and see if it helps at all. Think it's just a sign that I need to slow down a bit.   Will def try the pregnancy belt @beary67! Ordering one now  :)

  • @Marley629 I second the support belt! Usually a day or two of wearing mine will help clear up the walking pain and I can go back to business as usual (until it happens again...)

  • @Marley629 this didn’t happen today with DD1 but has been happening for severl weeks now with dd2. I am not to your point yet but it hurts and so much pressure. I was considering buying a support belt.

  • Team Puff over here. My feet, ankles, wrists, hands, and face. I am drinking lots of water, I am peeing a lot, I am eating potassium, I am trying as best as possible to cut back on sodium (this is the hardest one). I walked a few miles the other night after work but that didn't really help much -- I was puffier when I was done and had a splitting headache all night and slept terribly. I haven't exactly been constipated, but when I go, it's these (TMI) little floating balls of poop which I know is not normal.

My OB said not to worry about the puffiness and that it's normal with all the extra fluid at this stage in pregnancy. Ugh but it's just so uncomfortable and unattractive. At least the real hot weather is over.
