Symptoms -- Week of 10/1

9/18's symptom thread was getting long, so I thought I'd toss out next week's a day early.

What's new this week (or old and ongoing)?!

Re: Symptoms -- Week of 10/1

  • Snoring.  I've never snored in my life, and sadly I'm a light sleeper.  For the last two nights, it has felt like every time I go back to sleep, I immediately wake myself up from snoring. Like instantly.  I'm so tired, and it's scary.  I'm starting to think I have sleep apnea bc I wo up once nearly choking and gagging.

I've changed to 30 different positions, including straight upright.  Can anyone advise me what to do?  I am already crying over this.  And yes, I see the OB o. Tuesday, but my nerves are shot now.
  • @vaewelch later in pregnancy, I typically wake up choking on stomach acid, but that would probably feel differently than what you're describing. I snore during pregnancy, too, and DH occasionally moves to the guest room if it's bad, but I haven't woken up from it yet this pregnancy--fingers crossed! I'm sorry it's not helping you, but have you tried breathe right strips (or whatever they're called)? My friend used them near the end of her pregnancy and seemed pleased!

  • @vaewelch If it's just snoring, try keeping your room cool, and maybe a humidifier.
  • The need to pee every 5-10 mins....
    so damn annoying.
Also terrible leg pain if I stand for longer then 30-40 mins...
  • I know heart palpitations are normal during pregnancy, and I had them more with my second than I did with my first, but I've been having chest pain, too, over the last 2 weeks. It comes in waves lasts for 5-10 minutes, but then it goes away. I can't breathe normally and it is super unnerving. When I read about it, it sounds normal, but I never had this with my first two. I think it must be related to my busy, sleep-deprived schedule while pregnant, but part of me wonders if it's not as normal as I'm thinking. Has anyone else had chest pain during pregnancy?

  • One time when I was heavier I went through a snoring phase, though not as harsh as this.  I got breathe rights which just made me have an allergy attack that turned into a cold.  So I'm not really trusting of it right now.  It's not stomach acid, though I'm having issues with that, it almost feels like the same of my throat are caving in.  If this is how it feels at 17 weeks, I'm scared to death what it's going to be like at 30.
  • I mentioned this in another thread, but since this is baby number 3, Braxton Hicks have graced me since week 12. More often each evening, but throughout the day as well. Hydration and rest don't seem to have anything to do with it. Thankfully they aren't super intense. It just catches me off guard to feel the tightening and that slight breathlessness/tightness in my chest. I also have this congestion in my chest that won't go away. I'm constantly trying to cough it up.
  • @LiveNLove44 I have had both as well. I used to get the palpitations somewhat often and then it was like it went away a few years. Now that I'm pregnant it happens to me frequently and it almost always happens as I'm bending over picking something up.. as for the chest pain.. I just get this sharp (muscle?) pain where I cannot get in a full deep breath when it happens. It lasts up to a minute or two and then I can finally breath normal. I have also had these before pregnant but seems to happen more often now. Not sure if that is similar to the chest pain you mentioned.
  • @LiveNLove44 I had chest pain with my last pregnancy. it might have something to do with the extra blood coursing through our bodies...not sure though. they were generally very quick and sharp. maybe mention it to your doctor next time just so they are aware, but I don't think it's anything to be concerned about.
  • I actually experienced a completely new (to me) symptom last night and it was AWFUL.

I was having some minor heartburn .... which I don't usually have, but I blame that on the total crap I ate yesterday ....i digress

eventually, despite the discomfort, I feel asleep and woke up with the taste of stomach aid/ bile in my mouth. every time I tried to clear my throat or cough - the vomit taste would come back. it was just the worst.

is any one else experiencing this. is there something I can do if it happens again?
  • RLP, rib pain already, super sore and full boobs, BH.
  • @chasingroygbiv my ribs have been bugging me too, all the way around  DD dislocated 2 of my ribs at the end of that pregnancy, but DS didn't bug my ribs at all. I think I carry girls higher or something? It woke me up last night!

  • @LiveNLove44 Yes! I’ve had rib pain with all of my pregnancies, but never this early. Started about 32 weeks with DS, 26 with DD, and now nearly 20 weeks this go around. Ouch!
  • @LiveNLove44 I have issues with heart palpitations/irregular heart beat while not pregnant, and get it time to time pregnant as well. I actually saw a cardiologist and had to wear a 24-hour monitor during my last pregnancy because I had a pregnancy-related heart murmur. Everything checked out okay but when I mentioned the palpitations the cardiologist reiterated the importance of staying hydrated. I definitely found that to help with them! The cardiologist said your heart is working extra during pregnancy due to all the extra blood pumping. Definitely mention it to your OB so they can listen to your heart and advise if it's worth following up with a cardiologist, but it's most likely nothing serious!
  • Heart burn like crazy! I also think I have been having Braxton hicks.

  • Thank you @garnetmama @isntthatspeshul @triplejplus1 for the insights!

@garnetmama After I had my second, I had a cholesterol check for life insurance (totally routine and I've never had high cholesterol) and it was really high. My OB said that was totally normal during and right after pregnancy, but part of me got a little freaked out that my heart isn't as healthy PLUS it's working so much harder during pregnancy. DH and I eat really well, exercise daily, and live generally active lifestyles, so this threw me for a loop. It kind of worries me that my heart doesn't feel the same this time around than it did throughout my first two pregnancies. I know it can be normal, but it's so unnerving when it happens! I will definitely check in with my OB at my next appointment (or earlier if it feels like it's getting worse/more frequent). Thank you!!

  • Glad I'm not the only one experiencing Braxton hicks contractions! I was a little worried having them this early and I didn't get them with DD. I also have been getting heartburn and acid reflux which I didn't get this early with DD but I got it a lot later on and she came out with tons of hair so my guess is he will too!

  • I'm plagued by joint pain and hyper sensitive skin... Happened with #1 too but not quite this early on. This pregnant I got one of those u-shaped body pillows and I'm REALLY hoping it helps a bit with the joint pain...
  • @bb3vj3n sounds like pregnancy-induced acid reflux to me. I have found both times that it doesn’t matter what I eat or don’t eat... even water does it sometimes.
  • Still super sore boobs that want to outgrow all my bras including my nursing ones.  My wonderful vericose veins continue to get worse.  Luckily fall is on the way and I will be able to hide them completely.
  • The pregnancy insomnia is back  :(. I guess I’ll get up and go to the gym.

@mmom3, this is my 4th pregnancy and my boobs have never been so sore!!! I accidentally brushed against my nipple the other day while changing and screamed in pain! They're also sooooo full already! Preparing for leaking early again (I leaked around 18 weeks with my first).

@npkat, between pregnancy insomnia, getting up to pee, and my toddler waking me up 5x a night, I'm running on fumes. Sigh. Gone are the days of first trimester exhaustion and going to bed at 8pm.
  • The sacroiliac joint pain/posterior pelvic pain is real. Last night I got up to pee and almost fell to the floor I could barely walk. I think it's worst in the evening after a day of picking up the toddler, bending down and standing up, etc. I didn't have it this early with my last pregnancy, i think it happened in late third trimester because of the weight and pressure. I'm sure sleeping with the toddler is not helping.
  • @bb3vj3n I agree with @mdfarmchick- sounds like classic acid reflux, which I used to get before pregnancy. It's gross. You have my empathy. For me, aloe vera water, licorice tea, coconut water, and oatmeal really help. And anything acidic (including tomatoes), citrus, caffeinated, or high in fat (even good fats like avocado) made the reflux much worse. I hate taking antacids, as (to me) they can just slow down your digestion and cause other problems, but they might at least help you sleep!

My only newer symptom is that I wake up constantly during the night, like every 80-90min. And carbonated things- including the LaCroix and Diet Coke that I liked for the first time ever during the first trimester- gross me out (I assume my stomach is signaling to my brain: YOU ARE PUFFY ENOUGH NOW).

  • Still dealing with morning sickness. My body is finally tolerating a little bit of coffee now so thankfully I can drink that again. I'm hungry CONSTANTLY. My back hurts all the time and Braxton hicks are a common thing. I still have this stupid stuffed nose too. I'm getting SO EXCITED to be finding out the sex of the baby soon! The boy/girl thread is going to blow up soon. Which reminds me, @crossfitbabybump thinking of you!
  • @gh515 @mdfarmchick well atleast I'm not alone....
I've never experienced this before. I've also thought acid reflux and heartburn were the same thing.

    so gross
  • @justkeeptrying @mmom3 You guys. The boob growth and soreness is so real over here, too. Last time around my boobs got HUGE, but they weren't sore and didn't blow up until the second half of 3rd tri.  This time around...holy shit.

  • @npkat @justkeeptrying, Usually it's my husband that wakes up early (4-5am) and can't get back to sleep, but now we've reversed roles. Woke up this morning just knowing it was time to get up...it was 12:30am  :s
    Happened again at 2, 3, 4, and 5.
  • I cant eat breakfast. Whether I eat at 6 am or 10 am I always puke it back up within the next hour or so. It can be a smoothie, yogurt or toast or oatmeal. Doesn't matter. Some days I think I can beat it and try anyway and still end up puking. :( with my first two I puked every morning from day 1 to week 40 but it was always just stomach bile never food. This time I am puking up at least 1 meal, more likely 2 every day. Diclectin doesn't work for me. It just makes me sleepy(-ier).
  • @crossfitbabybump that's freaking fantastic! FX they have someone relay the results to you asap!
  • Thank you ladies!!! I will for sure let you all know as soon as I do!!! :D
  • Headaches and neck aches.....I need an in-house masseuse
  • Also not sleeping well over here. Insomnia some nights and other nights acid reflux, nausea, can’t get comfy, etc
  • Migraines constantly.... urge to pee 24-7... tail bone pain and stuffy nose. Tired in the afternoons still full force!
  • Headaches and neck aches.....I need an in-house masseuse
This is is me too. I’ve been going on a 3 day long headache and I’m. Over. It.
  • @ABombard12 @lgutu28 @mradvins I'm still having headaches, also started having neck aches this week too. I hope we can all get some relief from it soon. :(

Also I think I joined the others having braxton hicks. I woke up in abdominal pain that would come and go, and eventually went away. Is there anything I can do when it happens? I drank water and laid on my side with a pillow between my knees...
