We're finally back from a 2-week vacation. We did 10 days in Myrtle Beach (plus a night stop driving there); came home for less than 24 hours; then went to Kalahari water park in the Poconos as part of my work conference.
The kids are sooooo off schedule and last night was a bit brutal with our 11-month old. Plus I had a cold while away, and now DH has the dreaded man cold. Ugh!
I just called to book a haircut for DS. Last time we went we had a different woman and she did an awful job. We have family photos this weekend. So I called this morning and asked for the usual girl. Thank goodness I did! She's on holidays starting Wednesday!!! But she fit us in today. Phew!
@justkeeptrying good call scheduling early! DD1 is almost 3 years old and has never had a haircut (she has no hair haha), but I've already had to do a bang trim for DD2.
@JamieK1882 fun!! We are thinking of doing a weekend trip to Kalahari or Great Wolf in the Poconos this winter with our one year old before baby arrives. Do you think it's age appropriate for a 15-18 month old?!
Ugh speaking of haircuts, our whole family needs cuts. I should just learn to cut hair lol.
We were out of town all weekend. 2 yo DD slept from 7pm to 10 am. I thought maybe she was tired from traveling, but this morning she's got a fever. Wahh
@scoogy19 I think so. My oldest is almost 3 and absolutely loved it. There were 2 great toddler areas with super shallow water, swings and slides that parents could ride with them, as well as a kiddie lazy river!
Ive never been to Great wolfe lodge to compare. There was actually this discussion today on a local fb group, and some moms said that GWL might be better for younger just due to cost?
I must admit I've been having trouble staying active on this board and well, staying active on anything all together! But now that I'm back on I can't wait to read what everyone is up to!
Also, is already craving seasonal beers/ alcohol beverages? My friends are all heavy drinkers and their drinking is going to make me pretty jealous this whole holiday season.
@jessbruxanovaa ahaha I've seen a couple moms say they're stockpiling the seasonals for when they can actually drink again see if you can find something that's similar but non-alcoholic?

I am definitely one of them. Fall/Winter beers are my favorite!
@scoogy19 we went to great wolf with a 20 month old. He was a scared but loved it at the same time. It's only 45 minutes from us so it wasn't a huge deal to go, and to be honest it was our first attempt at a hotel stay with him so we felt like it was great to get him out of his routine and see new things. They do have a great shallow area but it's definitely overwhelming for the little ones, a lot going on and it scared him a bit!
DS just decided to tell us Sunday he has been having trouble seeing for a while... I got him an appointment yesterday and he was at a -1.00 and -1.25. I feel like an awful mom. That is on top of my car dying last Friday when I went to pick him up from school. Long story short I am getting a new Ford Flex today and am very excited.
@megpeg don't feel like a bad mom! Sometimes they don't realize it's something they need to talk about. I was born blind in one eye and my parents didn't know until I was in 2nd grade because we had yearly eye exams at my new school and they told my parents they needed to take me to an eye doctor. I didn't know that anything was wrong with me, I thought the way I saw things was normal. Lasik and glasses won't help so I'm still blind in one eye, and honestly it was never my parents fault.
Anyone care if I start a thread for people to try and practice GIFing in the comment section? I know it will take me multiple tries but I really wanna nail it. I just don't want to clog up the comment section of any post where people aren't having actual conversations. And this way anyone else who wants to try (and fail) at GIFing can just comment on the thread too.
@jeanbean15 I doubt anyone will mind, though I can't speak for everyone. Maybe we can make it a gif party! I will see if I can find a theme unless anyone has any ideas off the top of their head.
Edited to add after searching other boards I guess it doesn't necessarily have to have a theme so I will just start a gif party thread.

@ShawnnaO thanks. The doctor said that it's normal for them to suddenly realize they can't see. It just made me feel terrible I hadn't noticed. I had a similar expirience and had 45% hearing loss in both ears when I was little and my parents didn't know until I went to kindergarten round up.
@barrelocarol hahah honestly even if there was a way to fix it, like some fancy surgery where they go into my brain and fix the parts that cause me not to see in one eye, I wouldn't go through with it because I really feel like I see just as well as everyone else (as long as I have my good eye open ) In fact if it weren't for those early eye exams at school, I would probably STILL not realize anything is wrong.
I went and saw IT last night... I've never said "WTF" so much in my life... lol
I've never read the book nor have I seen the original movie so it was definitely strange for me. And baby. When I would get startled, the baby would kick like crazy, haha!
@crossfitbabybump I DO NOT do scary movies. Even suspenseful movies make my palms sweat. If I am watching at home, I've been known to get up and pace in the room. Bring on all the comedies!
@crossfitbabybump I am terrified of clowns and I am less than thrilled that IT is the third top selling costume right now. However if I was into clown horror movies I would totally see the original! I think you should and I will live vicariously through you. Tim Curry played the original IT and is an AMAZING actor!!! I bet he does an evil clown justice!! < Tim Curry

@npkat - I hate scary movies, too! My SO and big brother are both afraid of clowns, so that's why all three of us went together! All I could see was that clowns face when I tried to sleep last night lol.
@kalawa - I need to see the original now! @muggle621 - No, I definitely need to see it now if Tim Curry is the clown.. holy crap! Maybe for Halloween!!!
I want to go see the public screening of Rocky Horror that is done every year here but there is no way in hell I can stay up for it!! It usually starts at 10 pm on a weeknight!!! Oh well maybe next year!

I hope it's ok I'm starting this! Just bored waiting for my 10am meeting and wanted to say hi
It's absolutely okay for anyone to start any of the weeklies. I always just figure if they haven't been started by the time morning rolls around for me, I may as well.
@megpeg@ShawnnaO In a similar vein, I had always thought that everyone had situational double vision (outside of drunkenness). I had even mentioned it to eye doctors before and was told that it was normal (for me, there are certain things that exacerbate it like if I read small print such as my phone for a while and then try to focus at a longer distance). Then this year when my RE found out that my prolactin was high, she mentioned that as long as it stayed at that level and it wasn't like I was having any visual disturbances she didn't think I needed an MRI. At the time I was all, "Nope. Vision is totally normal!" then I got to thinking about it and started asking H about his. So I made a point of asking at my next visit. Totally abnormal. I was sent in for an MRI and I need to schedule surgery which I'm hoping to do about 4 weeks PP. ETA: To clarify, MRI was normal. I need strabismus surgery. If anyone has any experience with it, I'd love to hear all about it. One of my favorite things to worry about long before it's applicable is how that's all going to work and work with breastfeeding.
@kalawa Sounds like a wonderful solo trip to the theater and you don't have to share any of the popcorn. Do it! That movie is totally better in a theater than it would be at home.
@crossfitbabybump I was a little disappointed that they fell down on an incredible marketing opportunity. They really should have sent theaters red balloon decals to put on the backs of the stall doors. I would say Pennywise but that would scare the crap out of kids there for other movies. Just a red balloon, the kids wouldn't have understood and it would have been hella creepy right after seeing the movie! I should email them for the sequel.
@muggle621 My how things have changed. It used to be that if H mentioned going to bed any time in the 8:00 hour I would tell him that we're not even through the first hour of prime time and ask if he was a toddler. Last night he wanted to start watching a Ray Donovan at 7:45 and I was all, "It's kind of late to be getting into an hour-long show."

We haven't had a why my preg self is crying thread in a while so I'll post why I'm crying here. I'll be taking on of our dogs into a shelter tomorrow to do an owners release. I'm mess and I'm going to be an embarrassing sobbing mess holding a baby tomorrow so if you ladies could send me some good juju in hopes that I can keep it together long enough to at least be in my car before I start crying, I would really appreciate it.
@kiki75 That does sound like a fantastic idea! Also, I wish they would have done the red balloon as well. I may watch the original again this weekend...my SO's out of town. @ShawnnaO I hope everything goes smoothly. My dad had to put our family dog down today because he was 14 yrs old and not well. But man...he was the sweetest, chocolate lab ever. Having to let go of a pet in any way is never easy. Cry alllllll you want! Wherever you want!
@crossfitbabybump was it good? Our daycare is having a parents night out Friday (aka cheap babysitting), so we're trying to find something to do and debating it.
Eating anything and everything chocolate I can find in my house right now. Also really, REALLY craving milk but we don't have any and honestly I'm emotional enough right now that it's kind of pissing me off and making me want to cry (even more).
I started reading that book Raising Elijah and the first few chapters talk about premature birth and potential causes. It's really striking a nerve with me. While my son's premature birth was determined to be due to IC, I was born and lived near the Hudson River for the first few years of my life. It makes me wonder if I had any exposure as an infant and child that could have at all influenced how I developed. I am only on the first few chapters, but what she describes about the environment around that area sounds scary.
I have a dentist appointment after work today and am legit scared I have a cavity. I felt like this last pregnancy too though - my teeth just feel more sensitive during pregnancy I guess. They can still find cavities without xrays right?
