Job interview

So I am just shy of 8 weeks along, I have a job interview on Monday at a pediatric doctors office that I previously worked at. At this point it is a formality but I'm not sure if I should tell them that I am pregnant. My concern is the health care issue and that I will need there not to be a gap in coverage. Last time coverage didn't start until the 90 day probationary period was over. It's early to tell people, so what do you ladies think?

So I realize after I posted this, probably should have put it in the randoms thread, sorry!

  • I recently applied for and was accepted as a substitute teacher in my youngests preschool. I'm not telling them yet because I'm not comfortable, since it's still so early.
Since you have to worry about insurance, I would probably tell them.

  • I wouldn’t tell them until you have a job offer.  They can’t not hire you because you’re pregnant but might give them a reason to find another reason to not hire you.  I interviewed last time I was pregnant at 10 weeks and waited until I showed up for my first day of orientation.  Then again I’m paranoid and not 100% sure my lay off at 8 weeks at my previous job wasn’t because I was pregnant.
  • As PP said, I would probably wait until after you are formerly hired.

  • As for insurance can you get on your husbands for those 90 days?  Typically a drop in coverage for whatever reason is a reason to get added outside open enrollment.

Another option, although probably more expensive, is to do COBRA for that time period.
