We decided to go with a safari theme for a girl. It started out as just giraffe things like we planned but we've accumulated zebra and elephant things too that are just too cute!
Helllllp! Rainbow-ish theme nursery here is what we are hoping for. Light walls, white furniture, tan carpet. What would you do for bedding? I can’t find anything I love, but I’m also not a great decorator.. pops of color, random rainbows, whatever. Ideas?! We need to get this nursery going.
our nursery reno is completely on hold. my dad tore a ligament in his knee and is unable to help DH install the floors. My husband is many things - but handy is not one of them. Hopefully everything will be back underway in a few weeks...
I just searched Rainbow crib bedding and picked some of the ones that appealed to me. I am only doing a quilt and a blanket for this baby as far as bedding goes because I use the quilt for monthly pictures and the blanket goes everywhere usually. Ha.
@mdfarmchick Great minds! I saw the first link you posted and loved that one so I have that saved. I’m thinking of just doing a quilt/blanket, sheet, and then skirt and calling it good. Seems like everything else that usually comes in a set is never used. I spent so much on DS and DD’s bedding sets it was a little ridiculous.
I posted before asking about paint color and I kind of wanted to do a grey tinted white, but now I’m not convinced with the tan carpet. Am I thinking too much into it?
I think it would be great. My favorite grey is passive grey ((at Lowe’s)); and the grey-white that I love is called nebulous white. Those two colors go well together and I think either would be fine with tan carpet. Half of my house is passive grey and the tile is shades of tan.
nursery painting and sub floors are finished. started putting up the accent wall paper today and will finish tomorrow. Sat/Sun floors go in. Once that's all done I cab build my furniture - which i picked up today. its starting to come together.
One thing that I think is never nice in a nursery is a big hole in the 175 year old ceiling, that caved in shortly after finding out you are pregnant. So glad that is no longer part of our look!
Okay ladies - I am super proud of myself! I completed the 360 degree Harry Potter wall mural in the nursery! I can take smaller pictures if anyone wants, but there are lots of elements in there (ron, harry, hermoine, hagrid's house, hypogriff, womping willow with car, the train, flying carriage, hogsmeade, shrieking shack etc.
I used a projector and stenciled some of it on to the wall, free handed some of the drawing, then painted everything. I am going with white furniture with pops of pink for our little girl and am so excited!
(I am going to sand and paint that red bookcase white and hubby is going to remove the top most shelf so that you can see hogsmeade village behind it ha)
@GG620 wow! I’m not even that big of a Harry Potter person but that seriously looks amazing. I can’t believe you did that yourself! You could definitely charge big bucks for that!

@GG620 I love it! my husband and I are both artists and have fantasized about painting babe some kind of mural, but we can't get our act together and commit. Maybe over the summer once he's off from school?
