Pregnant after IF

Success with delayed FET??? please share!!

Hello my mothers to be!!!

Trying hard to get back to the other side of IF.  TW** After MC twins at 10wks from a fresh transfer **TW OVER  I've been banking embryos and I'm finally ready for my FET.  This is the first time I've gone in for monitoring where my lining is great at an 8 but my E2 was a 172, went back in a day later and it dropped to a 147.  They are changing my protocol to 3mg in the am and in the pm 2mg orally and 1mg vaginally.   They are hoping by Wednesday it will go up and i'll be ready to start the progesterone.  I'm curious to hear if anyone has had similar stories and have had success with being delayed.  I"m just nervous as I don't have embryos to spare and wondering if I should cancel or keep moving forward.

All thoughts and insight are welcomed.

thanks!!

  • @Hopeful_mom I'm really excited that you're ready to try an FET. I've been thinking about you and praying that you'll have success soon. I had my egg retrieval in Nov of last year, took the month of December off primarily because the lab and RE were closed around Christmas, and then had my FET in January and had success! Based on what I've read and the RE's advice, the FET gives your body a chance to normalize much more after all the stress of the stims and retrieval. It feels like you're barely on any medication at all after being on so much for the retrieval cycle! Best wishes to you, and FX that your estrogen kicks into gear.
  • EmilyE13 thanks so much!  Its hard to believe that we had our ER at the same time and you're almost ready to deliver!  Hope you're feeling great and everything goes smooth for you!!

I think my freak out is more if I'm was missing My "receptive time"  The fact that its medicated helps getting the ideal time which is the point.  We have in our heads that our body just has the one moment it can become pregnant so its hard to forget that aspect. You get this calendar and look at it by law and if you deviate from it you then halt and get nervous.  Its not like the calendar has extra boxes saying you can go 5 days later and that its ok too....I think thats why i'm so concerned over it.  Everyone gets a date and pretty much stick to it...its the ladies that got a date and then it was delayed did they still have success.  Its a tricky thing and knowing you have this one chance you don't want anything to jeopardize it.  It does seem like its from the time when the progesterone starts that its go time...but of course with the upcoming holiday I really need go time to be now!  And they are probably have me coming in wed and not tuesday so it lands on mon and not sun.  is my educated guess! ;)

I'm also upset that i'm pretty sure my RE's LAST DAY if her baby doesn't come early would be friday which then means someone else will have to do my transfer.  When you've been through so much its very hard to have someone that really doesn't know your struggle do a transfer.  I feel like they wont be as invested and i'll be a nervous wreck!

@Hopeful_mom - I developed OHSS after my retrieval and ended up going the FET route. My husband and I wanted to transfer 2 embryos but Dr. would't do it b/c it would only make my OHSS worse. Dr. would only do one so we agreed to wait. I was crushing given the entire process. (3 failed IUIs including one delayed due to ovarian cyst and 2 separate surgeries only months apart to remove fibroids which delayed things even further once we started  IVF). Anyways, we did the FET, transferred two and I am now the mom to twins boys that are almost 5 months old.  Best wishes to you. Positive thoughts which I know is so freaking hard. FX for you.
  • @Hopeful_mom Ah, so you mean delaying within the cycle. I'd just try to avoid stressing about it if possible because due to the medications they aren't "real" cycles. On my FET cycle we did delay initially because I didn't really get a period once they took me off the birth control. It ended up working out, though. To the extent you can, just try to focus on the fact that after this long and hard road, you're almost ready to transfer those embabies!
  • We did a fresh transfer but I just wanted to say they fully control your cycle, ask questions if you doubt the timing but their explanation alone may make you feel better. My cycle is usually shorter so I swear my period was fighting to come, I actually wrote off pregnancy since our transfer was closer to when I normally start spotting.

I more wanted to chime in that my RE didn't do my transfer either, but EVERY person at my clinic was rooting for us. The RE who ended up doing my transfer, I ended up liking more and if we have more kids I may request her! It's such a mind game, I wish you all the luck in the world ❤️
  • Polythene Pam  I'm laughing at your post as on my 3rd ivf cycle I did a fresh transfer with a different RE and he was really great (TW I MC twins at 10wks) and he was so great.  My RE is very smart but has no bed side manner and oddly enough shes female.  My OH does not like my RE and wanted me to change to the DR that did my fresh transfer...so I totally hear you.  I stuck with my RE and she did 4 ER out of the 6 I had and was he one to get my normies so I guess I'm glad I stuck with her BUT she will not be doing my transfer after all as her water broke today and shes having a baby...ironic?  Hopefully shes just foreshadowing my future :)

EmilyE13   I like hearing delay and success in the same sentence :)  I'm trying not to stress but after 7 IUIs and 8 cycles of IVF its tough not to.  Thanks so much!!  It's the unknown of it all and not wanting to jeopardize anything.

janejane-2  awww so loved hearing your story...in the spoiler box is my history...i was (TW After a fresh transfer I was pregnant with twins and MC at 10 wks...unexplained TW over) More then anything I wanted to transfer 2 but my RE and OH are against it.  I was first beating the odds with my pregnancy, 40 and pregnant with twins...then I became a statistic.  Anyway I thought with all my cycles of IVF I would have so many normies to transfer but since that isn't the case we are only going to transfer one and pray it sticks and I can support it my lil pnut all the way through.  I keep hoping that these extra few days won't matter and its just the progesterone days that count.

    AFM:

***TW**** My RE is in labor go figure, we knew it was bound to happen so regardless of my delays she wouldn't have been able to do my transfer on friday anyway booooooo!  Her water broke this morning and I'm laughing that I get a call at 8am from the nurses to let me know HAAAAAAA!!!  AND this one nurse has no TACT at all.  She basically says the DR forwarded the email I sent to her and am i now cancelling my FET.  um why?? Because I said I don't want a new DR doing my transfer?  Not sure why she doesn't realize I've been with this clinic so long I have had the other 2 REs at this point...they have brought on a new dr that I just dont want.  Does that sounds horrible sure, she could be the best, I just don't feel like dealing with it.  Is that the right decision who knows.
Back to the clinic I go tomorrow...
