Crying going to bed, Crying waking up

I don't know what's going on with my daughter. For the last few days she screams for about 20 minutes at bedtime and cries when she wakes up in the morning. This doesn't apply to her naps. Nothing has changed as far as her routine. Could it be she just doesn't want to go to sleep?

Re: Crying going to bed, Crying waking up

  • Is she maybe, sick, or coming down with something?  Or maybe even teething?  I've noticed DD will do something similar if she's not feeling good.
  • @kfrob possibly teething. It's odd because she's fine all day then when it's time for bed a screaming episode begins. I actually gave her Motrin the other night and it didn't make any difference.

  • Freya has recently started to try "tricking" me into delaying bedtime (one more book, more time brushing teeth, etc) so maybe it could be that she just doesn't want to go to bed? Or I've also heard kids this age start to get fears, like scared of the dark... So maybe try a nightlight? My LO went through this recently, but it was for both night and naps... And then suddenly stopped. So it could just be a phase (18 month sleep regression?)

Claire is the same! "One mo" book. Milk. Water. Doll doll. She has become a huge procrastinator!

Gina does that also, its funny how they're so young but yet so smart lol she has a nightlight, I got her one a few months ago.  I pushed her bedtime to be a little later than usual and so far (knock wood) no tears at bedtime.
  • The crying is happening here all of a sudden too. Nothing has changed but the last two day's he's cried at nap and bedtime. I will try Tylenol at bedtime tonight in case it's his teeth (he is chewing on one finger a lot) but I don't really think that's it.
