@RC1014 - I looked a while back and when I went to look again yesterday I couldn't find the maternity! I think their site may have been glitchy. The only problem with RTR is you don't really know how it's going to fit until you get it and since I have literally no other options of things to wear, it's a bit too risky for me. Last time I rented from there the dress just didn't look great on me but I had a back up dress I could wear. I'm definitely going to look again though and just see!
Anyone getting too much clothing already? I dont mean for it to sound like a complaint, Im not complaining but geeze I have too much clothing for this baby from 3 months to a year! Family bought a TON of clothing and then husbands' brother sent 3 bags full of clothing from his daughter and coworkers wife sent me another 3 bags of clothing from her daughter. Im kind of sad because now I feel like I shouldnt buy any clothing for baby Again, not complaining, I feel blessed
@livingoffpbjs That's great that so many people have already given you stuff! You can still buy clothing for baby - keep in mind you can donate anything you don't use, or pass it on when you're done. I ended up getting boxes of used clothes when I was pregnant with DD, and I only used about 1/2 of them. I was also gifted a number of different outfits that I never used. I think in the 1st few months, DD only wore onesies anyway (which you will need a million of - poopsplosions are no joke).
@livingoffpbjs we got 3 big bags full of clothes for DD and I really didn't end up needing to buy her much at all. I was a little bummed because I wanted to pick out clothes, but the sizes only went up to 6 months so I was able to get things for her when she was a little older, which was just as fun! I did buy smaller things if I saw a really good deal though. You can't really have too many clothes in my opinion-there were days we'd go through 3 or 4 outfits because of poop/spit up!
@livingoffpbjs DH's friends are all going to give this girl clothes. I'm quite picky and particular about clothes for DS, so I really don't want them to because I'll feel so bad when they don't wear them. We'll see if they follow through and actually giving us clothes. If they do, then I plan to take what I don't like and donate them. Right now I'm stocking up on this seasons clearance, so size 6m. DS always ran a size up each season, so I figure 6 months clothes here can be worn with a sweater or leggings/tights if she is smaller.
@missblaze@schaze ooohhhhhh grosssss pooplosions! Need to order masks off amazon hahahaha
@supercoolstephy what got me is there was a whole bag of 6 month old winter clothing...... uhmmmmm my baby is not coming out the size of a 6 month old and she better be bigger than 6 months come next winter haha. Luckily my Ant has a friend that will has a little girl that will be about 6 months this winter. Because damn it that clothing is adorable!!
I went to visit my best friend in the hospital last night (she just had her first baby on Monday!), and i totally forgot how little and precious newborns were!! as if i weren't already so excited for this little one, i went home and showed a picture to DS and he said "is that our baby? where is he..." it was adorable.
During my Dr.'s appointment yesterday, I found out that I now weigh more than my husband, for the first time in our marriage. Awesome. I've said it on here many times that my DH has been on a "clean eating" kick for the last several months. I've been giving him a hard time about it, but was mostly kidding. After yesterday's appointment, my complaints are no longer jokes. Perfect timing, jerk. Why do you choose NOW to lose a ton of weight and get all fit? He wasn't even overweight to begin with. I liked him just the way he was. Any other time I would be so encouraging...but I just don't have it in me during this phase of my life. Stop. Losing. Weight!
@cyanope - I feel you! My husband just starting trying to eat better and started working out again to lose weight and when I asked him his goal weight I almost cried because it's below what I'll most likely end up weighing by the end of this thing and I was already at my heaviest weight ever pre-pregnancy. I don't want to discourage him and I'm happy he's doing well with it (not that he was overweight either) but mentally it's really hard for me to not compare our weights.
DH just informed me he bought a scale as our current one is broken, because he really wants to drop some weight. Great, DH, please go on a diet and lose a bunch of weight while I just slowly increase to the size of a cow.
Omg what is going on with the husbands. Mine just got a Fitbit and started this Mediterranean diet and is convinced to drop 30 lbs by Christmas. Meanwhile I'm eating 2 lunches per day and rapidly expanding.... at least he is motivating me to walk!
Anyone else get the face herp? I stopped taking lysine supplements when I find out I was pregnant, and forgot to ask my midwife if they might be okay to take because I haven't had a cold sore since before the pregnancy.
Anyway, I have one popping now and I'm having zero luck finding out if any of the lip balms I have are okay, etc. Sounds like Abreva is okay? I've got ice on it at the moment.
Also this is very inconvenient to my sex plans for the night. Harrumph.
@scatteringashes I got a prescription for acyclovir last week when I got one (on my birthday, of course). It's one of the few drugs (that I use) that is approved for use during pregnancy. I think Valtrex is also approved. Sorry, not sure about abreva but the prescriptions stop mine dead in their tracks. I only had to take one pill to stop the progress, too.
I almost cried, I was so happy. I guess the Pharma companies did research since herpes can be risky for babies during birth!!!
@scatteringashes pre-pregnancy I used Valtrex for the outbreak. I haven't gotten one during this pregnancy and really I haven't gotten many since I getting pregnant with DS. Mine are the kind that last 2-3 weeks and are painful and Valtrex just stops it at the point that it is and doesn't progress and get worse. I feel like my OB said I could have taken it but I can't remember at this point. Man... if I would have known you were going through this I would have asked while I was at my OB today because it's info I'd like to know anyway should an outbreak occur.
Was just looking at the HDBD pics and thinking that I really should be documenting this pregnancy better. I guess for the most part I just don't feel super attractive right now. *shrugs I don't know. I just don't want to regret it later if I don't.
What is good timing for a baby shower? Is 10/21 too early, in your opinions? My due date is 1/7 but I have to fly home for this, so options are limited after Thanksgiving but I don't want to do it so early that people think it's odd!
@libbberty I think if you have to travel timing doesn't matter too much. I'm going to a shower this weekend for someone who is only 26 weeks, but she's moving and we all wanted to do something for her before she left even if it's small. We've done it for quite a few ladies under 30 weeks as they get ready to move away. Have a shower whenever it's convenient for you and the host!
@libbberty with DS I had my shower in mid October and was due late November. I was in a December bump group and most of them had already had theirs before mine. So I think your date will work well. ALso, you have to think about holidays too. For us we have DS birthday mid November, then thanksgiving, then Christmas, and then January she's here.
With DD, I went in to be induced June 24th around 38 1/2 weeks, my shower was the first weekend of June because of my work schedule. I had to drive 3 hours. I would have preferred it like in May but I worked like every weekend up until then.
@libbberty That sounds about normal to me - around 7 months. I was due in late September and had mine in mid-August. This weekend we are throwing one for my cousin who is due in late October. Especially considering you have to travel I don't think anyone would think it's weird.
Again, sorry I don't post more often, and this is not meant to be a scare tactic or anything, but anyone who gets "the face herp" (love the description lol), PLEASE talk to your midwives or doctors about what to get on to clear them up before the baby is born.
While it is INCREDIBLY rare, babies can catch HSV-1 and it can cause serious side effects and can be potentially deadly because they have no immune system. My DD caught it in the hospital at 1 day old, and thankfully, I didn't let up when people told me the it was normal, so she is perfectly healthy today, however, that isn't always the case.
Again, not trying to scare people, but not very many people know about it. Just don't want anyone to go through that.
In other news, as I attempt to get out of my comfort zone and be more active, if you'd like to read some drama regarding whether you can feel your baby breathe or not, go to May 2018 and read the randoms thread... then go to the poll about how to keep the bump friendly.
Ummmm can I just say that after seeing my AS ultrasound and that this babe looks just like DS in his ultrasounds, so I decided to put my new bows from little poppy co on him. haha. YES... I'm already doing a monthly subscription box for bows for the babe in my belly. haha

I always regretted not getting more pictures of my pregnancy with my son. I honestly feel like a potato with hair half the time, so taking them weekly isn't always in the cards. But I think taking them consistently is valuable.
@CANTW82BMOM I regret not taking maternity photos, but I like the HDBD photos because I have them stored in my albums on my phone and I look back at them and compare weeks now.
@darkrose88 ours is the best. Also I won't b able to handle soooo much drama..... Though I like to watch it if its in the neighbors house I think just reading that post is affecting me... Can't believe I'm actually saying this
@sonalisharma haha I completely agree ours is the best, but I am bias because I know all you ladies and enjoy participating on this board. I'd probably feel the same way even on a board that was more dramatic.
i personally give the May drama a 5 of 10. Just not doing it for me like some of the December or Feb stuff from a month or so ago. if that's all it's going to be, I'll take unicorns and fairy dust any day (unless it steps it up a notch). Great subway reading, though!
So I've been processing my AS since Friday. Had a rough morning yesterday where I couldn't help crying over the girl we're not having and then had a massive freak out that the boy we ARE having might somehow know I'm disappointed before he's even born, cue hysterics. Plus hubby and I had agreed we weren't telling the gender so nobody to really talk to about it. Yuck, bad day.
Today I'm just wallowing in vindication though, they moved my due date back like 10 days at my dating scan, but I'm measuring EXACTLY eight days ahead now, which puts the date of conception on the exact date that I know it happened lol. I like being right. Officially my due date is still 1/22, but my OB will get the results and can use them to determine when we induce. Adjusted due date is 1/14 (one day after my 35th birthday.)
@auntieraindrop with my first I really wanted a boy, got a boy and still had a minor freak out about having a boy. It's hard to wrap your head around no matter what. You'll adjust and be thrilled, but it's nothing to feel bad about at all. And yay for being right!
