Where are your babies napping? I just tried for an hour and a half to get mine to sleep in her crib....no luck. I tried holding her for various amounts of time but she wakes the second I lay her down because she almost immediately rolls onto her belly and can't seem to sleep that way. I'm holding her again because she got so overtired that she screamed like a banshee while I was rocking her. I am no good at putting babies to sleep.

@march2008 I'm still in survival mode. My baby naps all over the place. At night he is in his crib For a little bit but I can't get him to take good naps in there so I'm not forcing it yet. Naps are hard. Mine also wakes up the second I lay him down..or 5 minutes later when I start doing something.
In the crib for the most part. It's taken me till my second child and second niece/nephew to be able to put a baby down for a nap, the trick is to move from cradling them, to having your hand under their head while still rocking them to sleep. DS wakes when I move him but I keep him close to my chest till he dozes back off then slowly move him away, put him down slowly and slowly move my hand from under his head. I also put white noise on while I rock him.
this obviously won't work for all LO's but some it may help. Also try putting a fluffy blanket in the crib so the change in temp doesn't wake them, or rock with a blanket around them, right up under their head too so there is no temp change when you put them down.

@PartiallyDomesticated, I can't reach down into the crib with my whole body. It's too tall for me to continue cradling her while I lay her in there unfortunately! I do similar to that with the rock n play and that works to set her down but for some reason she'll only sleep for like 20-30 minutes in there.

@march2008 I slide my arm out while rocking, so I'm holding him with my palm under his head and my other hand under about his knees or thighs, then keep rocking him like that for a couple mins before moving him away from my body slowly, then down
