  • Welcome @josie12367, @bjkay22 and @jaymayhatton from a fellow newbie!

    @jaymayhatton what's you're favorite recent Pinterest project? My DH reluctantly plays along with my crazy Pinterest ideas that "can't be too difficult..." We currently have a "concrete countertop" curing in the backyard - results TBD.
  • @atb9515 I somehow convinced DH that we needed to update our upstairs bathroom. Nothing big just a quick two week project to add wainscoting, paint and new fixtures. That was in June and we still don't have all the wainscoting done  :D this was the first time we tried anything as far as the house goes though. It's been fun but it's taken a lot longer than I thought it would. I normally stick to the arts and crafts kind of stuff and baking/slow cooker recipes. I'm also working on a "My Little Pony" themed party for DD's 4th bday. Decor, games, snacks etc.

    You'll have to let me know how the concrete countertop project goes! I love the look of them!

  • @duckingfabulous Enormous hugs to you for what you've been through! I can't even imagine. I'm so happy that you're here. Welcome to the board! I'm a newbie with this group of ladies, but a veteran bumpie. I hope you find it as supportive as I always have!

    @jaymayhatton Welcome from another newb! My DD's fifth was a My Little Pony Party. We had so much fun! I loved planning it because you can do all kinds of colors, and rainbow everything. I definitely let my girly side run wild (I'm a tomboy myself, and my DD is ultra girly girl). What kinds of games are you doing? We had a bobbing for apples station for Apple Jack, a potato sack race for pinkie pie, and a pinata of rainbow dash because she "flys"...lol. The adults got to participate, and I think we had just as much, if not more, fun than the kids!

    @bjkay22 I'm a fellow reader as well! Though for the past few months I've read nothing but textbooks...ugh. What are you reading right now? I NEED a good book to dive into. It's my "get away" time, and the textbooks are just not cutting it!

    @atb9515 I think men secretly like crafting...especially if it involves "manly" stuff. I recently took interest in painting furniture and my husband totally tried to take over. I was like, "Nah man! You wanted nothing to do with this till you saw me bring out a sander!"

  • @josie12367 the best book I've read in the past year is "The Memory Box" it is a pager turner in a similar to vein with Gone Girl, buy it and read now. I might just re read it...
  • @jaymayhatton haha that sounds very familiar, we went to home depot once to buy a new lightbulb and ended up buying tile and ripping out the bathroom that afternoon, and it was left unfinished for the better part of a year. We dont go to home depot together anymore. The bday party sounds pretty cool!!

    @josie12367 you are absolutely right! My husband usually starts to hover as soon as I start something that he wanted nothing to do with during planning. What all are you refinishing? Sounds awesome!

    @duckingfabulous Welcome! I'm so sorry for all you've been through in the past few years

    @hello_hoppy welcome!

  • @duckingfabulous I'm sorry for what you have gone through! (Hugs) I'm glad you're here!

    @atb9515 lmao Home Depot is trouble!!!!! I get way too many ideas while walking around there!

    @canucklehead123 north-central Montana! How bout you?

    @josie12367 We'll be indoors with a couple jump houses so we will not have a bunch of space but so far I have planned a cutie mark station where they can pick their own cutie mark with temporary tattoos. My DD has been really into having her picture taken lately so I thought it would be fun to have "Rarity's Carousel Boutique" dress up and photo booth. I'll make a few tutus with cutie marks made from felt and glue them on then also have headbands with the horse ears and some with unicorn horns. I am also more of a tomboy than girlie girl and DD leans more to the girlie girl side. She loves dress up and wearing bows in her hair! I was also planning on a piñata! I might copy you on the bobbing for apples! That would be fun!!! Thanks for the idea!

    @hello_hoppy welcome!!

    Hello everyone, I'm glad there are a number of helpful threads which are good for the newbies to make a start. However, I want to know what should one do if infertility has become one's luck? :/ My younger sister is struck by the same curse as I'am ( No children). :( She was 4 months PG when a miscarriage occurred last year. This shook the roots of family to the core. This was not the worst that could happen. This year her uterus became cancerous  and had to be removed ASAP.  She had undergone Hysterectomy early this year, AFAIK, It was Jan,20th. That day, she didn't only lose her uterus but also lost all her hopes. She got struck with depression, obesity, sleepless nights,migraines and what not? When can be done for her? I think both of us (me and my sister) are cursed. :( Why do both of us have to suffer from this? Why we can never enjoy our baby's presence? Medical Science has advanced so much then why don't we get to any solution? Will our lives be filled with grief, hurt, loneliness and hopelessness forever? Has there been anyone this much ill fated? I feel lost, scattered for both of us. No miracle seems coming. :(

  • @aimeeeeenw. Welcome :)  It sounds like you are doing much needed self-care such as yearly trips and speaking with your doctor about depression.  Continue to be kind to yourself. <3. Many of us here are on medication, many for depression/anxiety.  What kind of dog is Roxy?
