Re: Anyone starting September FET?

  • @Hopeful_mom it's always worth a try to see if you can get in sooner? ;) I tested it out twice before for 2 of my 7 IUI and both were negative after 2 days, but who knows. Still so happy for you!!!

  • @Holls214 feeling sick is a great sign! I had very scratchy throat starting a few days past transfer too!

@Hopeful_mom yeah, I was lucky to find my awesome new DH even before my divorce was final. I'm so happy we didn't end up having kids with my ex, in this case infertility actually played a positive fortunate role.

Got my Beta2 - it's 528 - woo-hoo for doubling numbers! I assume the clinic will call me tomorrow to instruct with what's next.
I still don't see any results for estrogen or progesterone. And I'm on 1ml PIO/day, hope it's enough to keep me going!

  • @FuzzyDust Great second beta! I'm hoping an ultrasound is next in line for you!

@Holls214 I think I'm next in line for being a crazy home pregnancy tester. Haha! So I got some cheap Walmart tests because I figured if I use them before the FRER tests and they are negative I can justify them being cheap and it being early. I tested this morning with one of the cheapies and it had a super faint line that showed up after the 3 minute time frame. I'm only on day 4 but it gives me hope that I'm heading in the right direction. I think I'll test tonight with a FRER. I wanted to see if I could get a faint line before I test with my husband knowing because if its negative even this early he will probably stress about it.

  • @HottLemonade2886 yay another crazy tester. I got a faint line on day 4 also. It's day 7 and they are still positive. Darker. I didn't tell my husband about the first test. He really wanted to wait for the beta but he knows me and knows I can't wait haha. Hoping yours keep getting darker. I think tomorrow I might go for a digital one ;). This waiting sucks as we all know, so much waiting in IVF!!!

  • @HottLemonade2886 Holls214 - Woo-Hoo for peeing on the sticks and seeing lines!!!! My DH also told me not to test till beta, and I was using super cheap expired tests starting day 4 :D As soon as I saw a faint line I tried the digital test, since it removes any guess-work :) As soon as I got "Yes +" on the digital, I took a picture and texted it to DH :D

Magallyta, your u/s is today, right? how did it go?

So, I've got a call from the clinic this morning - they are very happy with my Beta2, and apparently the don't do Beta3, but rather go straight into ultrasounds! My u/s is scheduled for next Monday - October 9 - that feels pretty soon!!!! I can't wait!!
I was also given an 'OK' for intercourse and taking a bath
    B) Can't wait to test out the fancy oval tub that came with our new house! I think I can't do anything too hot, but I figured warm and short bath should be totally fine :)

  • Hi Girls.  Can I join the party (albeit a little late)?  I did a 6-day blastocyst FET on 9/29, and am waiting for my Beta on Monday.  I felt some minor, localized cramping in the days following the transfer, and today I woke up with nausea.  I know that all may be the result of the progesterone, but am choosing to believe they are positive signs!  I love seeing the positive results all of you are having.
  • Hi again everyone, I know it's been awhile since I posted, but since I did join (and was praying for a September transfer), I have been following along on all of your journeys.  Congrats to all the BFPs as of late including @Hopeful_mom, @fuzzydust and good luck to @Holls214 and @HottLemonade2886 on your upcoming betas, so exciting that you are both seeing positive HPTs!!

I prepped through the month of September and had my FET transfer of one good graded embryo yesterday!  According to the RE, it went "perfectly" and since I did the ERA and discovered that I needed the 6 full days of PIO vs. 4 days of Crinone, I am really keeping fingers crossed that this is our BFP take-home baby!

After our first negative FET, the hope and sheer excitement diminished a little with each consecutive transfer, I think I was just nervous to be so off guard and disappointed again.  But this time, both DH and I feel so different.  After we left yesterday, he even said to me "Honey, I really think this is it this time, I have a really good feeling about this."  We know it is out of our hands now, but I am trying to stay optimistic and hopeful.  It is so difficult, and initially yesterday I had convinced myself I would not test until beta day, as I wanted to continue in this positive state for the next 10 days.  However, 1 day later and my attitude has completely changed.  The first cycle, I was at least prepared for the negative and while it was really difficult, it was expected and easier to take the news.  And I need to know this cycle, I need to be in control and know the outcome before anyone else.  So we shall see what happens, but I just wanted to post here as you wonderful ladies have been so supportive this cycle and I want you to know that I have been supporting you all throughout the month as well!
  • ALM30324 welcome to the party you still have some ladies in your tww!  sounds like some some promising symptoms!  Is this your first transfer?  best of luck!!!

  • @ALM30324 Welcome! We transferred the same day and have the same beta. I'm with you on some nausea. I've noticed I get hungry every 1.5 hours and if I ignore it I start feeling nauseous. I did a FRER test tonight and super faint but definitely a positive. I'm officially obsessed about testing and will again tomorrow morning. Haha!

@bethann1022 Welcome back! Good thing you did the ERA. Sounds like you have a great shot since you changed to PIO shots.

  • Holls214, @Hopeful_mom - that's exactly why I was a little excited to switch from suppositories to PIO -> no yucky things in my vagina :D As much as I hate needles, PIO is actually working ok for me.

@Hopeful_mom, when I got my u/s scheduled, I thought about you right away, since I remembered yours being ways out. Looking at everyone's dates on spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16MNiSKauiHAajh7jqNSOc8_SquJtiBCP6vf09T2aQ9g/edit#gid=0), looks like it's quite common to have u/s ~10 days post first Beta. Not sure why yours is so far away, maybe they want to get to the heartbeat right away? I was told that they'll be just looking for the sack, and the heartbeat won't be there to detect till about week 6.

  • Is it bad that I got a 7 day beta done? I had them still on order through my general  clinic from when I was doing my IUI's... I'm literally crazy I think. I wasn't this bad with testing or anything after my 7 IUI's.
Results were 60, so when I do my actual 10 day beta at the RE hopefully the numbers will keep rising. :)

  • Thanks for the welcome @Hopeful, @Holls & @Hott.  Congrats to everyone who’s already received BFP’s!  This has clearly been a successful group so I’m hoping your good luck rubs off on me.

Hi @bethann1022.  Wishing you the best after your transfer!  Sit back and take it easy!  I completely understand where you’re coming from on the testing issue.  I, too, feel like I will take the news better – whatever that news may be – if I’m not completely surprised come Beta day.  If my HPT’s are negative and I’m pleasantly surprised on Beta day, great.  If not, I’m worried I might be at work when they call and I will fall apart from the anxiety of it all.  Fingers crossed we all get good news before then!

Exciting that we are on the same schedule @Hott!  It will be nice going through this with you (I hope)!

AFM - This is actually my third time doing IVF.  I had a successful fresh transfer that resulted in my now four-year-old son, then did another fresh round two years later.  After the second fresh cycle we did a FET after PGS which resulted in my almost two-year-old daughter.  We had always hoped for three children, and I happened to have one male embryo remaining from that second cycle.  Unfortunately, the PGS results on him were inconclusive.  (I’m over 40 so there are concerns regarding the quality of my eggs, and this is why we’ve done PGS).  It has been very frustrating because my doctors really couldn’t give me odds on whether or not (or to what extent there may be) problems with the remaining boy.  The initial test raised concerns that he may have a microdeletion on his Y chromosome.  After much research and countless conversations with doctors, geneticists and embryologists, I can sum it up best by saying there are some men walking around today with microdeletions and they have no idea that they have them.  In fact, we did some testing on my husband after this initial result and determined he does not have such a condition, which is usually genetic (nor does my son).  A microdeletion like this could result in decreased fertility for males in adulthood, but not necessarily.  Then again, a severe microdeletion could bring serious complications for the baby, including a lack of, or confusion of sex organs, etc., or might not even end up in a viable pregnancy or would be a pregnancy that would not make it to term.  In other words, it could be something we’d never know about if we hadn’t tested, or it could be quite serious.  The doctors recommended we not use this embryo and simply do another fresh cycle.  I agreed to do the fresh cycle again, but was having a very, very hard time with the thought of letting this little guy go when we weren’t sure what issues he might or might not have.

After much debate and second guessing myself, I recently did another fresh cycle which resulted in three perfect looking 5-day blastocysts that we had biopsied.  I also had them thaw and re-biopsy our little frozen embryo (again) since the testing they use now is more advance than what was used two years ago.  I figured we had nothing to lose, thought it would give me closure on the issue, and expected at least one of the fresh embryos would be usable.  The funny thing is that none of my new embryos were normal chromosomally, but the frozen one came back with a perfectly clean bill of health.  There wasn’t any microdeletion detected at all – much less a serious one.  The doctors believe there was an error with the first sample at initial testing (it really is amazing that they can biopsy something so small).  My doctors then recommended we use him and had no reservations recommended that to us.

So last week we finally transferred our little fighter.  Poor little guy has been thawed, biopsied and refrozen multiple times.  Doctors told me there is no risk of birth defects simply from multiple thaws and freezes, but it may decrease our chances that he will turn into a pregnancy at all.  Then again, the embryologist told me repeatedly on transfer day that he was “acting like a fresh embryo” and was “far more vibrant than any of them expected.”  So I’m trying to be hopeful.  We have no more embryos, nor are we doing any other fresh rounds.  I’m simply too old.  This is our last shot.  And although we have other children, I do still very much want one more.  I hope that doesn’t make me sound ungrateful for the ones we already have.  I’m also still very nervous about his health considering the prior inconclusive test results.  I understand in theory how the test could have been wrong, but that also makes me doubt the more recent biopsy results.  The doctors seem confident in the current results and I’ve chosen to have faith about it.  I guess either way, we’ve decided we don’t want to go through life wondering “what if.”

I’ve been very hopeful after having side-effects already.  I remember feeling the same mild cramping in the days after my second transfer, and I’ve had terrible morning sickness with all of my prior pregnancies, so feeling those things now is both scary and wonderful.

Anyway, that’s my story.  I POAS this morning and I think I got a squinter.  Not sure if it’s just wishful thinking on my part or not.  I was out of HPTs at that point, so I used an ovulation prediction strip I still had, and there were definitely two lines on it, although the second wasn’t as dark as the first line yet.  I’m hoping that’s a good sign too.  I didn’t do a trigger injection since this was a FET cycle, so hopefully that’s not what it picked up.  I plan to buy some more pregnancy tests this afternoon and try, try again tomorrow!

    Good luck to everyone!

  • ALM30324 I have to say that its exciting to know that this process can work for you!!  I've been old since I started this process so thats been part of my issue.  I did a fresh cycle got my first BFP (TW and then I mc my twins at 10wks...I feel like i"m still healing from that)  So we decided because of my age 40 at the time we needed to start banking embryos and then did PGS so I can't hopefully have 2 kids...didn't realize a cycle would actually give all abnormals so that was quite crushing.  There is a thread on PGS testing so I wouldn't toss those abnormals just in case!!  I wish I would've heard your story months ago.  One cycle I had 3 frosties to test 2 were abnormal and the other inconclusive and I had to know if it was a chance or not and dethaw and retested like you.  To my delight and surprise it came back normal!!  Originally they had no dna from it at all...which obviously I found so hard to believe.  I was thrilled it survived the dethaw and the testing.  Then I was stressed it had to survive the thawing process AGAIN!!  So its an added stresser for sure.  This is my first FET and this is the embryo we transferred and today I am pregnant.  Granted I was having tummy aches and dont know what it means.  Its hard to explain it just hurts.  Its no cramping THANK G-D it just bothering me....but i'm trying to stay hopeful!!!
I think its super promising you are already getting a squinter, did you test again? Hoping the line starts to get darker and this will help complete your family!!!

I know you mentioned being done with IVF and I get that after doing 8 cycles BUT I will say you still can make a normal embryo even at 40.  One cycle I got nothing and then the next cycle I got 2 back so you really just never know.  Which I might add that I hate!!!  But its true though!!

Waiting for this US is going to be worse then the 2ww!!!!!

  • @FuzzyDust Hi! I've been MIA. My u/s was Monday & everything looks good so far. I go next Tuesday for heartbeat

@Holls214 yay for the digital being positive!!! I am sure you're anxiously waiting for beta

@ALM30324 hi welcome back to the board. Thanks for sharing you beautiful story. Keep us posted & sending you positive vibes...

For all 2nd time mommy's, when did you start showing a bump? I heard with the 2nd you notice much quicker.

  • @Magallyta - woo-hoo for good-looking ultrasound! I assume there is one bean in there, cooking in the right location :)

I understand about being MIA. All I do now is trying to find other distractions, so that I don't obsess and worry. There nothing I can do right now, but wait and see what the next step shows.

  • Thanks @Hopeful.  So sorry to hear that you lost your twins, and at 10 weeks that must have been even more devastating.  I'm almost 42 now (didn't start having kids until my late 30's), and I feel like we've pushed the envelope as far as we are willing to at this point.  My most recent fresh cycle in August resulted in several "perfect" looking embryos (per the embryologist) but they all tested out abnormally.  Very crushing, indeed.  And the feeling is only amplified for me when I also think of the amount of money we've spent.  (We're all in that boat though, right?)  I think I'm also physically and emotionally spent from all of this.  I realized the other day that for the past 7-8 years, I've either been trying to get pregnant, pregnant, or recovering from birth that entire time.  I'm finally ready for this phase of my life to be over.  And I could definitely tell a difference in my body's ability to handle all of the meds this time around.  It was never pleasant before, but it was harder for my body to take this time.  For that reason I'm also worried about how I'll handle another pregnancy, assuming this works.  Anyway, whatever happens I've decided it's time to just enjoy the life I have now, whether that's with two or three (I hope!) kids.  Sounds like you've had a similar journey with PGS, so thanks for sharing that.  As if IVF isn't stressful enough, all of the additional tests/information can be both a blessing and a curse.  I love hearing that you've had success, especially with multiple freezes/thaws.  It's very encouraging to me!  And hopefully the tummy aches you're having are a good sign.  I've always had localized, minor cramping/aches with my pregnancies.  I think it's the uterus starting to stretch or change shape in some fashion to prepare for the baby, and it happens earlier for some women than others.  In fact, I've heard some women don't feel this at all, but I've felt it very strongly with each pregnancy, and from a very early stage.  I POAS again this morning and I still see a very faint line.  I took digital too, though, and it said "not pregnant."  Wish I hadn't now because I had more hope that my little squinter wasn't just wishful thinking before I did that.  I really hope I'm not just imagining things.  The fact that I'm NOT nauseous today doesn't help my anxiety.  I had terrible, debilitating nausea with my prior pregnancies through about 20 weeks each time, so I expect this one will be no different.

Congrats on the good U/S @Mag!  I didn't show with my first until almost 20 weeks, but was showing with my second by 16 weeks or so.  (Granted, my husband and I could see my bump before then, but I'm referring to the time when other people who I hadn't told would be able to tell).  Then again, I was partially showing earlier the second time just because I already had maternity clothes in my closet to wear and they were so much more comfortable that I just started wearing them earlier.  I may hop straight into them after my Beta this time if it's worked!  Ha!

@Fuzzy - I swear I've had no trouble with the waiting until just this week.  Now I'm a wreck.  I'm definitely having trouble concentrating and find myself obsessing.

Good to everyone else.  Love seeing the updates.
  • What do you think, girls?  You see a faint line?  Or am I seeing something that isn't there...
  • @ALM30324 Definitely a faint line. Did you see it within the timeframe (~3 minutes) or is it an evap? So exciting!
  • ALM30324 - I see a line!

  • Thanks @sarcastic & @Fuzzy for the encouragement on my faint line.  It did show up within 3 minutes and i didn't see any evap line before I took the test (you know sometimes you can actually see that spot before you even pee on it - wasn't the case with this one).  Anyway, I guess I'll just keep trying the next few days until it's clear one way or the other.  If my calculations are correct, and if this were a "normal" cycle, I would be getting my period on Saturday.  Since that's only 2 days from now I'm getting worried.  As I recall, I had clear positives on digital tests with my prior pregnancies by this time.  Beta is not until Monday but I hope I know before then.  The obsession is real....
  • @ALM30324 If you're on hormone support right now you likely won't get your period no matter what. I think you're 100% BFP but I understand your hesitation. At this point be cautiously optimistic :)

  • @Holls214 You are funny. Does your clinic know about the other betas you did? Haha! My acupuncturist was fighting with me last night saying there is no way I got a positive test yet and none of his other patients have ever got one before beta. I told him a lot of women do but he didn't really believe me. I'm glad last night was my last appointment because I don't need that negativity. Haha!
