Fertility Journey ((newbee))

:#  I started this IVF journey 3/2017 and it has been pretty bumpy yet exciting. Gods will we will do our FET this Wednesday. I retrieved 58 eggs yup 58, 44 matured and 28 frozen!  ((Whew)) my ovaries were so swollen after it set us back a month until they went down. That trigger shot sure found its target! The PIO have been so so, the first day my legs ached all day.  The injection itself that bad but the after affect is.

Did id anyone do their transfer yet and if so what should I expect after, like when I get home??????

IVF newbie as well and haven't even started stimming yet so I can't offer advice hun.

I wanted to know which meds you took,  if any,  and if PCOS is your diagnosis,  if you don't mind me asking.  Your number of frozen is the most I have seen since joining the bump.

I'm surprised to hear that you didn't develop OHSS.

Those really are great numbers.  Will you do PGS testing on them?

  • Yes I do have PCOS. And I was on metformin for a while before any of the injectables. I did the gonal pen only then went right to the trigger shot
  • @mssheenie_2 I have PCOS as well but I only took metformin with clomid back when we were trying and had one tube left.

So your protocol ONLY consisted of gonal pen and then the trigger? Correct me if I'm wrong and please forgive me for asking so many questions. :D Also, how old are you if you don't mind me asking?

  • I'm 32 and I did the Gina pen and menopur(sorry I thought I typed that) and I did the trigger the night before my retrieval. I still have vials of meds that I was suppose to take but couldn't because my ovaries were swollen and painful and I had to be retrieved. I was suppose to take the novarel sub injections but never got to.

As for clomid I have a 4 year old daughter and got pregnant with clomid the 2 cycle. We tried 4 months with clomid until my OB referred us to the infertility clinic!
  • @mssheenie_2 Shortest protocol I've seen anyone been on and got so many eggs and a lot of embryos to froze. I hope to be so lucky.

Clomid works so well for some and then not so good for others.  But I know that every body is different and every situation.

I wish you much success with your FET in the future and a healthy bundle of joy after.

  • Hi, msheenie
For sure it is a bit difficult to survive at this stage. Of course, if IVF is successful. You have to grapple with pregnancy symptoms. After the 8th day, you may start feeling implantation symptoms including nausea, breast tenderness, food aversions and rise in the body temperature. Of course, you do not expect to see your periods. In your case, you have stated that your legs ached. Well, people are different so other than experiencing the normal symptoms, you may go through other changes that are not common in most women. Also, some women may feel most of the above-mentioned signs while others will have just a few of them. It is important that you take a supplement of progesterone to help sustain your endometrial lining. Also, you need to note that women may experience abnormal vaginal discharge, which may take place the first day after embryo transfer because of the elevated hormonal level. The discharge may be laced with dark brown blood. Some women will feel fatigue due to increased level of progesterone in the body. The hormone increases because it has to sustain uterine lining to help in embryo implantation.
  • @tobs2017 thanks for the info. I am still taking estace and progesterone oil injections and I will get my pregnancy test done this Friday for confirmation. As far as system I am a bit fatigue and some pelvic pressure
  • Welcome and baby dust to you!!!! What a journey so far! I am excited to hear your results! @mssheenie_2
