Anyone have borderline high TSH in first trimester

I did my first FET on July 17. I went in to get my second beta and they routinely do a TSH level. Both my betas were positive but they said my TSH was 2.8 and were going to recheck it in a week when I went in for my first US. Everything looked great at the US but they said my TSH elevated more. She didn't tell me a level. She said it wasn't crazy high. But they started me on 25 mcg of synthroid daily. Anyone else have this issue??

I had the same problem - I went up to an 4.3 when they caught it and put me on the same dose Synthroid. All is fine - they just want to keep the level below 3 (IF docs - they like around 2 better) to keep the placenta healthy during the first trimester. My levels have stayed below 2.5 the rest of the way, actually lowering through the pregnancy - last test was 1.25

@JWatt5 oh thank you! That makes me feel so much better! I was so shocked when they told me I was PG and then I could've almost cried when they brought up TSH and miscarriage

@slmurphy12 - yah it's scary, cause it is serious but it's also very manageable. My OB did a good job of explaining it - also saying mine wasn't out of control, we just have a lot on the line just putting so much time in to getting pregnant they/we don't want anything messing with it. I lost it when I forgot it once - you'll be ok if you do once, just get back on track. It's most important in the first trimester/until your LO's got his or her own functioning thyroid. I've been monitored every 6 weeks with blood work - come to think of it I actually need to go Monday haha.

Yes -- adding my voice to the chorus here. It happens and they are being cautious. Please make sure you continue to get your TSH tested every 6 weeks at least through the end of the second tri. Your thyroid levels can fluctuate crazily during pregnancy but if you're checking regularly, you can keep it under control by adjusting your dose of levothyroxine. 

My endocrinologist likes to see TSH under 2.5 and T4 in normal range.

@JWatt5 oh god I can only imagine the drama if I forgot it haha right now I set my alarm 30 minutes before I wake up. Take my pill. And then go back to sleep so it has time to digest hahah I'm like a psycho person right now

@slmurphy12 Yes, every six weeks is the standard of care. If you are taking your medication properly, your hormones won't go from normal range to a dangerous level very quickly. It's more about dosage than anything else. At my second check, my TSH was increasing (from 1.1 to 2.6) so I had to take 9 pills per week instead of 7 (double pills two days per week) and my TSH went right back down to normal.
