AMA monitoring in the third trimester?

my OB said I need to decide if I want extra, AMA monitoring once I hit 30-32 weeks now so they can schedule the appointments. He said its two visits per week, one for a NST and one for BPP. He mentioned that research hasn't shown a decrease in infant mortality, but that there was an increase in interventions.

Anyone on this board do this monitoring or decide not to? I feel like it's a lot of visits....but the increase in interventions makes me think they find reasons to intervene??

My OB started weekly NSTs at 36w but not BPP- we actually never did those. I liked the NSTs and the reassurance they gave, I'm not sure if the BPP on top of that would be overkill?

With my last pregnancy (AMA at the time) it was twins so I was seeing an MFM and once we hit 32 weeks we were seen every 2 weeks with full ultrasounds at each appointment. (But I think that had more to do with seeing an MFM and being twins) This time I am going the midwife route and there has been no mention of increased monitoring over the usual for non AMA patients.

I had NST every other day from 36weeks.
But this was due to the fact I didn't feel movement. I never felt kicks, but felt movement, they just stopped.
Nothing was wrong, but I had an anterior placenta and she had placed herself ready a few weeks before with back to belly. So kicks were inwards.
Not sure it helped me stressing less... I was fine the day I didn't had a test, as I would 'forget' she didn't move. But the night before the test would freak me out.
    What if something was wrong?

I think you know yourself best. Will those test ease your mind or only make you worry more??

I am all for it. I'm AMA w/ blood pressure issues. If I hadn't been going to the MFM 1x week they would not have caught my dangerously low fluid levels last week (@ 34+1). I don't even want to think what could have happened. But I'm fine, baby is fine And I'm home on modified activities.  From here on out I'm going to the MFM 2x week for BPPs and NSTs. I'll also be seeing my OB 1x week. Better safe then sorry!

Thanks for the feedback ladies, I think I will do it. Sadly, I've had friends with late pregnancy issues (including loss in the third trimester) and the more I think about it, the more I know I will blame myself if I opt out and something goes wrong.
