TMI but my winning today is my newfound regularity! Yesterday by the time I got back from my AS I desperately had to go, then last night in Target I had to sprint to the bathroom (twice in one day!). Annnd again today. Sorry if I grossed anyone out, but pregnant lady win!
TBD on whether this will stick around or if it's a fluke/diet-related (maybe it's because I've started drinking a small cup of coffee a day...).
I don't get what's so fucking hard about reading the guidelines, introducing yourself before posting and participating in the weekly threads? Why are there so many "wahhh I feel like I can't post here because I can't start my own thread dedicated to me without getting flamed" posts lately? You want support? Great! Give it out and we'll support you right back. Don't just expect us to be sitting here twiddling our thumbs anxiously awaiting some rando to show up so we can blow smoke up your ass.
Sorry not sorry. I do enough giving to people who give nothing back at my job to do it here too.
WTF - My supervisor...I just can't. I am so fucking over the ups and downs of "I want to be your friend! No wait, now I am an asshole boss!" I am literally having to rage-write replies, delete them to get my frustration out and then write things in a more upbeat, positive way while still being a tad passive aggressive so he knows I am not happy. I'm trying to be on my best behavior because I am going to be requesting to work 100% remotely in the not too distant future when we move next spring/summer (I may not love it or make a ton of money, but it is a cush, easy gig) and while it won't be his decision, his opinion will matter. He isn't making it easy.
WTF - in addition to my swelling and quest to become the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, DH and I toured our #1 choice of daycares today. First, I burst into tears just looking at the littles in their classroom. I'm not sure why, but that was my reaction. Second, they still said we need to get on a waitlist. Um, I'm 22 weeks pregnant, how many in-utero babies you got waiting to join the ranks in March of 2018? I know daycares can be notorious for getting in, but my city isn't like NYC/D.C. with their ridiculous waitlists, or so I thought. Looks like we'll put multiple applications in at places to ease my type A stressed out mind.
@brittyclem ugh sorry they told you that. The daycare we are going with told me that it's basically BS when a daycare tells you there is a waitlist. She was like, it's just not possible with all the transition going on. Made me like them even more. Keep looking around too in the meantime, even if your heart is set on this one place. You never know if you'll find an even better place around the corner. Good luck!! Nailing a place down feels really good and will be a huge weight off your shoulders.

Thought of a WTF. WTF to telling people the sex and having them be like, "You know that's not always 100% accurate, right?" A coworker did this to me today, and DH said some coworkers said it to him yesterday. Yeah, no sh*t. But I bet if you knew we found out the sex and we were like, "Oh we're not telling because it's not 100% accurate" you'd be annoyed.
WTF - My MIL who told me last night that she doesn't think my diagnosis of complete posterior placenta previa "is a real thing". I had called her up to try and make a loose plan of what would happen should DH be at work on a night where I start to bleed and have to go to the hospital. Because my in laws live much closer than DH's work or my parents (they live about 15 min away) I need them to come and get DD so I don't have to keep her at the hospital with me until DH can get there. She kept saying to me "when I was pregnant, no one had that and there were no issues. I don't think its even a real thing"
Winning -- my poster is up and I'll be done presenting in 2hours, hallelujah. My dress slacks still juuuuuuuust fit (thank you, fatter past self) so I don't have to do this in my mommy yoga pants. My old colleagues (previous employer) are at conference and we had a nice old home week / reunion-y moment. And they reminded me that if (in the very real likelihood) my current company goes under at the end of the year, I'll always have a home there or they'll help place me with a local customer. My favorite old-coworkers couple is expecting their second in October (they live in Switzerland so I only get to see them if I run into them at a huge meeting like this).
WTF -- humidity? What is this ridiculousness? I live in So Cal for a reason. I'm effing melting and I swear the convention center is miiiiles from end to end and stretches every time I have to walk its length. Having this nuclear furnace of a baby on board is not helping. Also why are posters in the effing atrium? In the middle of the day? I'm so overheated, and round, that I look like a tomato in dress causal. Awesomely professional. Good times.
@SoxGirl982 Oh hell to the no, MIL. Also, a lot has changed since our parents/ILs were pregnant. Maybe she didn't hear about that so much because they didn't detect it as often because *technology and advancement.* Also to say that there were never ever complications in pregnancies of previous generations is so absurd!
@SoxGirl982 - OMG, that is super obnoxious. I'm sorry you had to deal with that. There are lots of things that they didn't know about pregnancy way back when. That doesn't mean they aren't real.

WTF - Why did I throw up this morning and have felt awful all day. Can the nausea and vomiting please go away?
@SoxGirl982 OMG, that would piss me off! I have someone close to me who acts like if it didn't happen to her while she was pregnant, it's not a pregnancy thing. It's so annoying.
@SoxGirl982 I'd be irritated too. Thank goodness medical technology has advanced since your MIL's time but wtf to her for not recognizing your reasonable request for help.
@peachy13 Yeah, I feel like they are saying that to sound more "exclusive" or to try to get me to go for full time enrollment over the 3 days/week I want. We will see what happens but I am very much looking forward to having all this nailed down. Thanks for your suggestions!
why is it so hard for some people to feel empathy for those that don't know all the rules and who are not bmb community savvy. You get flamed and brow-beaten for saying & posting the wrong things and generally the attitude that 'snark' is just something you gotta deal with. Ok. Sure, it's give and take, a two-way street, and fostering friendships, but it's not always perfect. Leaving room for mistakes is a part of life. Maybe this opinion is a little immature and nice but there's enough people out there shaming and pointing fingers to do it here.
@kyrwyn ugh tell me about it! I'm in SoCal too and the humidity and heat is melting me.
Winning: I have the next two days at work without either boss and am thinking looong lunch breaks
WTF: My good friend and her DH live far away but have been home at her family's beach house for the last two weeks, and are leaving early next week. When she originally let me know that they were coming home she invited DH and I to the beach house for potentially last weekend or this upcoming weekend. The invite was a little murky, it was basically like: FRIEND - "we would love for you to visit the beach when we're home! I'll let you know what weekends work but probably end of July or early Aug" ME - "okay just keep me posted! we'd love to come visit." So I cleared my schedule last weekend and for this upcoming weekend but never got any follow up from her regarding coming to visit. I did send her two texts since she's been home to see if the subject came up again but they were basically like "hey welcome home hope you have a fun time" and the conversation was pretty light from there with zero mention of DH and I being invited down again. I mean obviously it's not happening now, but I can't help but to feel a little slighted.

WTF: Rethinking throwing a fish fry at the end of the month. Last year we did it when we moved in, we invited around 80/90 people, but it rained and was storming pretty bad early in the day, and 50 people showed up. Well last night we sent out the invites for this year, and its more like 90/100 people invites. I'm really hoping only 50ish people show up again. I love throwing parties, but I'm always wishing no one comes, lol I'm the worst.
It's not like every time someone posts a one-off we go all 'hey you're an idiot stop being so stupid'. We redirect, provide links and rationale, perhaps with some attitude. This board is already a little on the tame/boring side compared to others, I think we are WAY nicer than some other places on the interwebs. If you're only interested in hearing what you want to hear with zero push back, go to yahoo answers or google it. Or one of the hundreds of other maternity apps/websites that have zero expectations of rules or guidelines.
We've had some users join in within the last week or two, and were completely accepted with open arms and ZERO flaming, and were given support for some pretty serious issues they're having. We are not heartless bitches, we just like structure and organization.
WIN - picking up a double stroller for $125 that retails for $350 thanks to fb market! I already shared this on another thread, but I'm excited so be ready to hear about it again on yet another thread. Sorry bout it.
@clovelyone That was me 2 weeks ago. Random barfing in the fast-food drive thru out of the blue at 18 weeks! I was so bummed.
@MJDsquared Many congrats on the poo. I have been very fortunate to still be going every 2 days or so but today I had the miraculous luxury of having the whole employee bathroom all to myself when the feeling struck! WINNING for sure.
@Kirss Apparently today my WTF is your giant fish fry, because I don't even think I know 90-100 people, hahaha
My WTF is a girl I havent spoken to in 100 years asking me on fb if I'd considered drinking an herbal tea instead of having a progesterone shot administered once a week. FYI- she's a nurse! Um... I believe in medical interventions and if my dr says I recommend the injection, im going to take the injection. THEN, she sent me a bunch of links about how circumcision was traumatic for baby boys. Whhhhyyyyy is it anyone's business if our children have intact wieners or not? And whhhhyyyy is someone telling me to take an herbal supplement instead of listening to my dr when they don't know my medical history? I feel like that's really irresponsible of her to do.
@lestex Ohhhhhhh I HATE that. Interestingly enough some of our nurse friends are the worst of all about essential oils and anti-vax propaganda etc. and I'm just like ????? y'all should know better!
WTF- I was given a new project at work to do QA for our new global partners. I was told if I do well they will bring me into our internal QA group because they need to backfill a position. I get called into a QA meeting thinking I'm going to get brought into the team..they ask me to talk about my project which was great and then the next 10 mins I have to sit there while the manager scolds the team members for getting caught piddling away time and the kicker..they won't be backfilling that position because they clearly have enough people to do the work already since they don't get to eff around for half the day anymore... awkward. I wanted to raise my hand and ask if I could leave..
@kaylawing If that's the case, my dd1 is totally getting it too...all she eats for lunch is ham, hot dogs or turkey (usually dipped in guacamole). If I can get her to eat anything with protein, I consider it a win.
WTF goes out to heartburn and morning sickness STILL. Totally done with the sucky pregnancy symptoms. What happened to that second trimester glow?
For real though, WTFuuuuuuuck?! I just checked the mail and received an envelope stuffed with "stay intact," "breast is best," and "sleep training is evil," flyers!!! When this girl posted on my fb about keeping my kids "intact" she posted some kind of link on my wall and somehow they got my home address and sent me this envelope. It's from dr.momma/saving our sons? Is this a coincidence that she posted this to my wall and now I'm getting stuff from this organization? They knew I was expecting a boy and sent me this. Im kind of freaked out.
@lestex Wwwtttttttffffffff?! That's super creepy and so intrusive. I came across an intactivist and her groupies on Facebook once and they were totally nuts. They reminded me of PETA, if they really believe in the power of their message, all they would have to do is state facts and people would listen. All this soldier-like and extreme behavior is super creepy.
@kaylawing It seems like we both have MIL's who need to learn to keep their opinions to themselves...solidarity
@kvacmak I am one of those new users who has quickly found support within the group for an issue that I am having. I can only hope that I can give back the support that I have already seen from the wonderful ladies within this group!
@lestex Who sends that stuff?! Or collects it to send out....
@elcd458 Most of it is family (DH has a huge family, I have my parents, and sister) The other people I don't know are people he fishes with. Last year it was a lot of fun, but last year I wasn't pregnant and could stay up past 8.
