Good morning!
This is a weekly check-in for those in their 2nd trimester: weeks 14 through the end of week 27.
Congrats to all the strong ladies who have made it this far! It's such a great feeling and we've all accomplished so much! We are now 1 week closer to the end of this especially long journey we call "infertility."
Please post below a little about yourself, how many beans you have growing inside, if you have found out the sex(es) and what your EDD is. Please also let us know how far you've made it on your journey and when your next appointment is and what for. If I'm missing anyone from this list, or you are new to the 2nd tri, please let me know and I will add you.
Please let us know when you have graduated to 3rd trimester so that I can update our list!

QOTW:
Who are you planning on having as your "birth team?" Partner, parent, doula, friend? All of the above?
Re: 2nd Trimester Check-in: Week of July 31st
I'm 14w4d with boy/girl twins, and my EDD is 1/25/18, and my bump is finally starting to pop! Though, I don't think it's too noticeable to other people...just me and DH...haha. Morning sickness and most food aversions are FINALLY starting to go away, but my body will still not tolerate meat. DH cooked these beautiful steaks last night....and he got to take mine to work for lunch today, boo.
The anatomy scan will be on 8/24, but I will also have an appointment sometime this week (once i call my OB's office to set it up in a few minutes). DH and I spent half the day Saturday at the maternity wing at the hospital due to some sudden bleeding (but no pain or cramps). They did an ultrasound and both babies were active with strong heartbeats, and the on-call OB did a quick exam, and once she determined that all 3 of us were fine she sent us home with orders that i can't really lift/carry anything for a week (even something small-ish like a grocery bag) and to follow up with my OB around mid-week. DH is a bit disconcerted with the whole "sometimes you bleed and we don't know why but you're still fine" thing, so he's being a bit of a mother hen and hovering since we came home saturday night...
For my birth team, as of now, I only plan on having DH in the room for the actual delivery. We haven't thought that much about it yet, but I know I don't want MIL or even my mother in the room when the babies come. I'm thinking that I'll want them to visit beforehand while in labor, but haven't made any final decisions yet!
19 weeks with one pistachio. All is going well. I actually had a lot of energy this weekend and DH and I got a ton done. Other than that this week should be fairly low key. We bought a dresser that will go in the twins room and the twins dresser will go to pistachio. I also think I found a chair on craigs list for the baby room... its exciting to feel like we might make some progress on turning it from a randoms room into the baby room. ( I can feel myself starting to nest)
As for my birth team... it will be DH and probably a doula then our midwife if all goes to plan. I don't really want anyone else there, plus we have to have someone watching the twins and our pets.
@caseyw8784 hooray for the 2nd tri!! I'm sorry about the bleeding. it is scary. I had bleeding with my twins too but at the end of the 1st tri. (tell you DH they are now crazy 2 year olds, so yes sometimes bleeding is just some bleeding) I'm glad you all look good.

Well ladies, as sad as it is to announce I am pumped to head over the next tri!! This week will be my last week checking in as I am 27+4 with one baby girl. Me and baby girl Riley had a big week of milestones last week with passing the glucose test and hosting our baby shower at our house for friends and family. DH and I were trying to wait until our baby shower to start making big purchases and I am glad we did because we got some great stuff and we had a great time! Now it's time to start putting her nursery together!! I will attach a few shots but will try not to bore you with all the pics. We are so glad we hosted though and we got more of our family together than we ever expected.
This week we have our echo on Wednesday and I have officially started appointments every other week. WE have our babymoon in Martha's Vineyard starting next Wed and then hopefully it's smooth sailing through the 3rd tri

@caseyw8784 I'll be lurking on here so keep us posted but my sister had late bleeding and has healthy kids! Never comforting but hoping some rest helps
@wabash15 yay for nursery progress! Feels so good to get stuff done
feeling good here! We're back to square 1 on names (grr to my husband haha) so he agreed to chat this week. nothing else too new.
QOTW just my husband and the nurse/doc. However I had a tough delivery (post partum hemmoraghing) with my daughter and my husband is already terrified of delivery. My doctor and I are making a plan in case it happens again, but I already told my husband I have no issue booting him if he's getting sick from being stressed. It's a really lovely trait of his ha, so he said he'll man up. If not, it'll be me and the nurse
Introducing: Elliott Andrew, Spencer Jacob, and Oliver TBD.
I'm firm in wanting only DH for support during delivery. Im not really a very nice person when I'm uncomfortable so to be perfectly honest I would probably prefer to be alone, but I'm not so terrible that I would even suggest that. Plus, I think it will be good for the boys to have their dad there since I will probably be mostly useless for a while lol. DH is used to my desire for personal space at this point in our relationship haha.
@caseyw8784 welcome to 2nd tri!! Sorry about the bleeding. I had two significant bleeds in my 1st tri and I know how scary it can be. Take it easy and let it heal!
@wabash15 your nursery really sounds like it's coming together!!
@Joslynj11 what a lovely shower for you and Riley! Congrats on moving on to 3rd tri! Such an exciting milestone.
@PolythenePam congrats on moving to the third tri!!
@Joslynj11 your glowing and look beautiful!! hooray for your transition to the 3rd tri and I'm glad your shower went well!

Just some back discomfort today. I think that sitting too much right now is causing the back pain/pelvic pain. I find reclining/standing more comfortable right now. Any others ladies feeling the same?
No appointments this week, next one is August 8th with the OB. Then MFM on the 24th. Basically an appointment every two weeks.
With twins I'm trying to keep the birth plan as open as possible while still knowing my personal preferences. Getting my brain into one locked in plan with so much unknown seems to encourage disappointment in how the babies' births will go. Hmm that doesn't sound quite right, do you guys get what I'm talking about though? I know that I just want DH in the room with me. I'm hoping that they are big and healthy enough for dad to do skin-to-skin with them as soon as possible.
Of course she still looks a little blobby, but her cheeks are filling out! This was at the MFM place and we got a good in-depth scan of her heart- which looks great!
As for my birth team, it'll be DH, my Mom, and our doula. : )

I know that I want DH in the room during delivery, and a doula (have not found one yet, but I have some recommendations and I am going to get on that in the next week or two). I never considered having other family members in the room, but I don't think I want to. I will invite them to come visit right after he is born though.
17 weeks over here! EDD is still January 8th so no change there. DH and I decided to go ahead and switch over to a midwife instead of staying with my OB. I am really excited to be switching because I love the midwives model of care and working with them had been a dream for the last 6 years of TTC! My first appointment with them is Thursday. Still planning on a hospital birth, but attended by my midwife unless there is an emergency and her overseeing OB is needed.
I'm feeling good overall. Food aversions aren't so bad and my energy level seems to be picking up. Some mornings are great, others are horrible with no rhyme or reason. Lol. I have a tolerance level of zero right now though and DH thinks it's funny unless its directed at him. All in all, not bad.
Birth plan....right now DH and my midwife and her assistant are the only people I'm planning on. I'm not sure what kind of level of involvement the midwives have during labor yet but I get the impression they are less removed than doctors typically are. DH didn't love the idea of a doula even though I assured him that by that time she wouldn't still be a stranger. Lol. So we'll see.
@caseyw8784 - welcome & congrats!
@srh18 - beautiful names! congrats on getting this far! I remember when you first announced your pg on the 1st tri board!
@stella_700 - im the opposite - lol. I need to sit down so my back doesn't hurt ..
@LeFemmeViolette - beautiful picture of your baby girl!
AFM, it's my last week as well - turned 27 weeks yesterday. @LeFemmeViolette
I had a doctor's appointment on Monday and took the gd test - still waiting for results. These boys tho, keep me up at night sometimes with all their kicking!
QOTW: i want my mom and maybe dh in the room. But i think my mom wants to skip this one - i dont blame her. As for dh, he'll probably be there but last time, he nearly fainted. The nurses got him a chair. I think this will all depend on whether or not I need to have c section tho. So we will see.

This week I'm feeling so many kicks! We have even seen/felt them on the outside, which is way earlier than I expected (we are only 21+6 today).
I scheduled the glucose test for the end of this month and they talked to me about weekly monitoring (visits twice a week!) starting at 32 weeks due to AMA. They said it's optional, but I need to decide soon so they can schedule all the visits now. Anyone else doing this?
QOTW: we plan to have my mom and two friends (both are L&D nurses who are going to take turns and act as doulas/advisors for me), but I'm pretty open to whoever at this point. I think I will like the distraction of company during the process.

@hopeby2015 fx your GD screen comes back all clear!!!
AFM, officially hospitalized until I either deliver or hit 28 weeks. I'm 25 weeks tomorrow, so these boys have held on for 4 weeks since my first preterm labor scare! (I cannot believe I've been on bedrest for 4 weeks! How did the time go by so quickly?!?!) Let's hope they have at least three more weeks in them!!! I would appreciate any and all prayers/positive vibes.

I also think you ladies would appreciate this more than anyone else I could tell. I was started on progesterone suppostorities around 21 weeks due to cervical shortening (hello prometrium, old friend). Well in the hospital, or at least this hospital, they don't have prometrium. They have inch-and-a-half long, very hard, conical suppositories that they want me to insert 2 of with lube each night. I tried and it hurt so I am now using my prometrium from home on the DL (no worries-dosing is the same and everything).
